Level 2 Lantern Buffed?
Since when did the upgraded lantern start doing a full heart of damage? I noticed some guy bking with it mowing down hordes of baddies, tried what he was doing and... yeah... I noticed. 1 full heart of damage. Though it is much slower and harder to hit with than a sword.
|
it's been like that for quite awhile im not sure when but yes it does 1 heart damage vs baddies
|
Since forever. Also, it used to do the same against players.
|
I think it has been this way for a while, I don't think it does 1.0 to players,(Could be wrong haven't been on to check in a while) but if it did it would actually kinda make sense really why it would do more damage. It is a slow, easily dodged and exhausted resource that you can't spam. It would actually give Lanterns an actual use in PK.
|
Folks had complained that it was too strong. Probably the same folks who stand at a distance when the big blob spawns with their bows and run to kill themselves on the fire pots in destiny when they have 0.5 hp.
|
Having it do 1.0 damage to players would actually be pretty bad in towers, so it makes sense if it used to and they nerfed it. It's not hard to hit people with it in tight spaces, especially since the hitbox lingers for longer than most people are used to.

It seems you can detonate bombs with the lantern without any self damage too

Now I'd understand if i was not paying attention or afk like you said, But i mean they're just easily avoidable to anyone paying attention to the guy with a lantern. I also don't see at all how the prolonged hitbox is a problem either, I mean it last for like a second, And more importantly if you're in a fight with them, You shouldn't be running right in front of them in the first place if you're trying to kill them.you're not gonna be going very far anywhere if that's what you're planning on doing. |

Truthfully, I feel the lantern does need something to make it more unique as a weapon. Doesn't have to be a damage upgrade, But something where it is more unique and more desired of a weapon. Since honestly the lantern has more disadvantages than advantage especially in PK. Which is why the only real advantage to lantern is using them to kill yourself with a bomb. The lingering hitbox only last like a second. And considering you already swung the lantern once and most likely would miss if you're counting on the lingering effect to damage them, unless they are blind to walk into it or are extremely inexperienced. It don't really do much.and you'll likely not hit at all |

This is an extreme view, but I actually wish bombs, arrows and lanterns were all disabled in towers. None of them are as good or will ever be as good as the sword, and they're mostly used in toxic ways (eg. suiciding, killing guild members, spamming). They basically just mess with the dynamics of the tower. Everyone accepts that they don't belong in spar, and I think towers should be the same way. Think of mounts too, it used to be normal that they were allowed in towers, but now we see how weird that was. |
Dude. Go try and take a tower by yourself with a lantern and bombs and see how long it holds.

1. Obviously using ONLY a lantern would be a bad strategy, we're talking about using it along with your sword 2. This entire discussion is about a hypothetical situation where lantern would deal 1.0 against players, which I'm saying would be OP |
Lanterns have a slightly larger range than the sword and are good for blocking corridors out of an enemy's sword reach.
That's typically how I use them, not a bad strategy. But, outside of that, I only use my sword, arrows, and bombs. The lantern is simple for hitting enemies out of range, falling back, hitting again, etc. |
Get good
|
STOP arguing about the lantern should deal 1.0 to players please. the fireball can even hit more than 1 person too if you'd see.
|
So does your sword if you're good.
