What subject should I pick?
 

Hello everyone, I came to you guys with few questions. Before I start I want to ask about the difference between business administration and business management? Which one has a better feature?
I finished school last year and got B in both math and English with few Cs and an A* in other subjects. Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to pick nor math or Computer science in college because of my math grade, they asked for an A (second highest grade). Therefore I decided to do a course called BTEC extended diploma in ICT which is equivalent to 3 "A levels" (3 subjects). I can still change from ICT to business administration.
If I do ICT in college, I can do masters+degree in computer science, business management and few other options that I don't know yet. If I do business administration I can do a degree+masters in business administration and few other options that I don't know yet.
My current plan is to continue my ICT two years course then do a degree+masters in computer science. However, I might consider business management, and the other available options that I got no clue on.
Do you guys think i'm on the right path? Or should I change to business administration? Or what other suggestions do you have?

Computer science is a pretty math intensive field as are most science majors so it really depends on how much you're willing to improve on your math.

I ****ing hate math but I still need to learn it for a biology major.

Chose whichever one you're most passionate about. Never just take the easier route.

Also I think business management is more about if you want to start your own business while business administration is about getting the proper leadership skills to direct people in an already established company. So its starting your own business VS becoming a business executive. At least thats what I think it is, just ask your adviser.

Be careful doing a BTEC. Depending on the university you would like to go to, some places don't regard BTECs as high as an A Level, despite being worth the same points on UCAS.

I go to a university where Business Administration and Management are separate degrees yet share a lot of time together. You're better off looking up the syllabus' of each course and deciding which you would prefer.

Fixing English is ur #1 priority

Unfortunately there is no easier route, most of the available paths are as hard.

I believe all universities in the uk accept BTEC, or at least 90% do.

I'm probably going to stick to my current plan because I don't think there Is any better available option.

computer science is a rewarding choice. But business administration will likely be the easier path. But you shouldn't be focused on easiest at all.

I was gathering people's opinions from different sources, your answer wasn't going to make the plan for me but, the overall answers from all the sources I looked into was going to make me consider changing my plan.
I decided to stick to the computer science path because everyone seemed to agree that in most cases it has a better future than business administration.

There's no better future than making your own choices and pursuing what you want, just because one might be better doesn't mean the other option isn't good - business administration can still be an extremely awarding field to pursue with lots of opportunity.

Do you mean adding it to my two years courses in college? To be honest, I'm not really interested in science and the universitues entry requirements don't ask for biology unless if I want to do a degree in something that is science related. However, biology is the type of subjects where you are almost guaranteed a good grade if you study hard in your free time unlike physics and math. So it could be a good addition qualification if it will expand my degree options in universities but, don't they usually ask for physics and/or chemistry too? I don't think I'm allowed to add two subjects plus my ICT course because, the ICT course is quite big and equivalent to 3 A levels (basically 3 subjects).
I never really studied computer science but, I did do a bit of programming etc.. however, I have been studying ICT for 3 years now. I don't hate studying ICT but, the topics I loved in ICT are also found in computer science and the topics I hated in ICT aren't found in computer science. I also done a lot of researchs about the computer science topics and they seemed to be more interesting than ICT which made me want to pick computer science after i'm finished with ICT in college.
There are other options I can do after i'm done with college that I will discover while studying ICT so, computer science is still not the final decision since I have a lot of time to think. I think my teacher mentioned a degree in robots..? Not sure about the names tbh. However, the decision I have to make this week is to choose the subjects I want to do in college. Which it's going to be ICT plus (if I wanted) another subject. I couldn't do math/physics etc.. as I mentioned why in my original post.

Damn lol I was kidding about biology.. just said it cause my program is biotechnology(molecular is my major) & chemical engineering (organic).

You'll get good grades in any subject you study, including maths and physics.

? so if you study for math you're not guaranteed to pass it?

In my opinion math is based on brain skills unlike biology, it's more like how good you are in remembering.

???? Math is about remembering the equations and various laws, math is super easy because it's just memory based and making calculations

Lol you're gonna need good memorization skills and study methods regardless of which subject you learn.

There is a **** load of memorization needed for chemistry and biology.

Pick what you're interested in, not something others suggest.

Honestly, I think you should get a degree in business and learn computer science on the side. Computer science is widely known as a field that people without a degree can get a job in (source: my extensive research as a computer science major in a software engineering internship).

Otherwise you could get a degree in computer science with a minor in business -- that's a good route to take too.

Either way, I'd suggested going for a degree with less years spent in school, like a bachelor's degree first, because you can always* go for a graduate degree after you get your bachelor's anyways.

* = After so many years out of school, you have to retake certain classes.

art majors is where the money at. I hear iClassic pays gfx artists 10k gralats a month.

I came into college wanting to be an engineer, but I have been looking at switching to a multimedia journalism major. Do whatever you're interested in and take classes you've never thought of taking before.

Yeah I agree with what you said about the first part, a lot of school leavers get a job related to computer science. However, IMO their job opportunities will be so low and even if they found a job, they won't get paid as much as you would if you had a degree. I'm not planning to stop after I gain my degree, I will go for masters and i'm even considering going further depending on how much money I gained from part time jobs.
Furthermore, I did some researches about the salary for both computer science related jobs and business administration related jobs. At the start of your job as a business administrator you don't really get paid much however, your salary increases depending on your experience. Also, I seemed to be interested in IT security it's a nixe job where you defend against hackers for the company or the police. The salary is also good for IT security jobs, it starts even then gets high depending on your experience. The salary of a job is an important factor but, there is no point getting into a job that you won't be interested in just because you could get a good salary.
I finished school last year and i'm 16 years old right now. I can do one year in college then do a foundation year in university then starts with my degree years. Or, I can do two years in college then move into university and starts with the degree years straight away. I have few months to make my choice if I wanted to do a foundation year in university.
That's really interesting, my new teacher told me the same. I will discover new classes (related to computer science/ICT) while I'm studying ICT in college. I will stick to doing ICT in college but, I coud do another degree rather than doing computer science in uni.
You missed understood me, I never said you don't need memorization skills at all for maths but you need more brain skills than memorization skills. For example: problem solving, organizing, calculating. Talking about calculating, you don't get a calculator for every math exam. It's usually 2/3 of your math exams with a calculator.

Regardless, there is a lot of math involved for comp sci.

You need to learn that stuff whether you like it or not.

There are services online that can help teach you to be competent (to an extent) with computer science.

Much less of this for business / economics.

You will need a good understanding of math for both of them so get used to that idea.
