in 2017 it's Sarah×10 but it sucks to see not a single new and strong sparrer for about 2 years

Hard to be real competitive in just regular spar. I don't do gst since I simply never have time for it. If I could get more out of spar other than a little trophy furniture I would be sparring more often.
Then there are the ones from other nations/countries. Not keen on just going up against delayers and laggers all the time, having to adapt to that ruins the experience, I shouldn't have to. As for #1 sparrers, I don't count Sarah as one of them for a reason I shouldn't have to explain. Anyone who could beat Sarah legit is very good in my books. Patience, timing, consistency, mind games, etc. |

sparring always gone through phases where certain devices or pings are dominant and that shapes everyone's stats
rough example of how I'd say things went in terms of ping http://puu.sh/xgdvn/8fc54f91ba.png was almost no relevant delayers except maybe Ryo when I first started sparring in 2011 and the delay was manageable, that's when all the PCs came and were just freestomping iDevices with less experience - some iDevices did well but overall I don't think there was any reason a PC player should have been losing more than 30% to iDevices that kept up for nearly 2 years, around the time that Mother won a few Mixed GSTs is when it slowly started to balance out and more higher-ping sparrers started winning a lot 2013 into 2014 is when people like Yui, Mood, Sarah, etc. were sparring quite a bit more - after that time is when I think sparring became more favorable for higher-ping players just due to the terrible server conditions because it creates an environment that they're used to sparring in then 2016 was a lot of Sarah, Alexx, etc. - the low-ping sparrers that did spar did it because they were newer to the server and had some gas left in the tank (Brett, Brandon, etc.) now it's just kind of whatever and even field for everyone because no one good even spars just my opinion though, in terms of devices PCs have always had the upper hand (especially during US GST era) but most hardcore delayers are mobile players TL;DR: ****ty server conditions and an influx of PCs in 2011 are mostly what have determined sparring stats over the years (obviously alongside natural factors like skill, etc.) |

funny how there's only one serious list on here and it's complete trash
i have less than 1,000 spars of experience in 2017 but from all my spars in that time span i can confidently say that mikva, kicko, and shiden are in the top 10 somewhere. can't think of anyone else who i haven't gone at least 2-1 against. |
spar is dead n if u dont think so then explain why kaios is #1 this season lol

If you're talking about activity, then might as well copy paste the current seasonal leaderboards... |
Quote:
we're talking about good players who spars at least 30 times every week. |
Quote:
In the end everyone's list will be biased (including my own), some people have an easier time against someone than others and vice versa, since location is also a factor |

"The way the spar community works is that if you're positive, you get to talk. While if you are negative, no matter how far it is from positive, you don't get to defend yourself."
I didn't steal this I just forgot the name of the sparrer who said it in their status |
I'm not 2:1 but I can kick some serious arse when I'm actually in the mood to spar. Can't beat the nasty foreign WiFi, though, I mean sure I could but you know how it is.
Has spar become more about who has the highest wins or ratio with all of ye? I don't know about anyone else but I'm still learning how to kick more and more arse, even though I'm passed 7k wins. I don't think there is a way to formally measure sparring skills right now, because there just aren't any formal 1v1 tournaments, only GST. If there were tournaments we'd get a much more accurate skill cap between players, because activity and seasonal wins can come from beating anyone, be that a newer sparrer, intermediate sparrer or advanced sparrer. Unless ye all want to put together a nice, formal tourney somewhere perhaps we could distinguish the necessary bragging rights to those whom are well-deserving. I believe something like this has been organised this previous year, but I bet there weren't nearly as many players as some of the lists in this thread, upon rankings depicted from those whom believe they qualify for, to have been together to participate in the same tourny, which results in a fairly small niche of 'good' sparrers. "I got 1st in 205's tourny!" Well, from the lists shown in this thread, how many participated? Inconclusive or very limited results as far as I could see from something like that, as well as the current spar system. |

Dante's was open to every single active, strong sparrer: http://challonge.com/graalclassicst Sarah's was exclusive to past and present Alumni members: http://challonge.com/alumni2016 The finals were literally the exact same - same sparrers, same match score, by the same number of hearts Not jerking myself off over here, just putting it out there I also don't think tournaments prove anything because the nature of a tournament is to take a small sample size and make a determination based off that There are times when Paddie will beat me in 2 out of 3 spars and then she'll lose the next 20 is what I'm saying |
Quote:
So it would look something like this: 3-2 Thallen for round one. 3-1 Thallen for round two. 3-0 Thallen for round three. And that's that, ye beat her and ye move on. I think that can be very accurate to determine a clear winner in a system like that. Also, how can ye lose to Paddie? Jokes, inconsistency is a b****. |
