Steam Summer Sale 2017

This a thread to discuss the summer sale, and point out any sales that may have been missed.

What have you bought so far? What do u think of the sale?

Also does anyone else think the sales arent as good as recent sales?

Fulgore 06-23-2017 07:44 AM

portal and portal 2 so far, gonna get transistor tomorrow

sales r nice so far

Crono 06-23-2017 11:18 AM

transistor for <3 euros is a steal, its a good game and has an amazing ost

imSupah 06-23-2017 02:25 PM

I'll recommend some of my favorite games on Steam that are on sale:

- DOOM
One of my favorite shooters released for 2016. DOOM is just fun and engaging. It's an ode to classic FPS's as well as the classic DOOM series itself. Theirs no health regeneration, no reloading guns, no sprint, etc..Just you, your guns, and an ****load of guns to tear demons up. The story is okay but it's just there. The real fun is the relentless killing of demons while metal music is blasting in the background. Definitely get at it's price point.
Store Page

- The Witcher 3
One of, if not the best, RPG I ever played. Everything about Witcher 3 is just amazing. The characters and story is well written, plenty of content that can take hours and hours to go through, engaging combat system (with Signs and oils, potions, and bombs playing a part), and Geralt. No seriously, Geralt's character is what makes me come back to playing this game since he's just so damn awesome. Oh and Gwent. Can't forget Gwent. The GOTY edition is on sale and it offers the base game + the 2 DLC expansions which adds a lot more to the game (new stories, quests, etc). Note: You don't necessary have to buy 1 and 2 to enjoy 3. It can offer some backstory on how Geralt knows some of the characters in 3, but 1 and 2 are completely optional.

-Bastion
I see everyone here is recommending Transistor, but I feel Bastion is just as fun. Bastion is made by the same devs as Transistor and offers a great narrative on it's own. If theirs one thing I love about Bastion besides the narrator, is the art style. It's just looks good while playing and also never fails to impress. If anything, get both Bastion and Transistor as they are 2 great games and are really cheap.
Store Page

Personally, I still don't know what I want from the Sale. I'm sort of picky for my games and the only thing I bought was Transistor. NieR looks interesting but I hear the PC port has issues. I just don't know.

5hift 06-23-2017 03:32 PM

Probably will grab Shadow of Mordor GoTY Edition for 4 bucks.

Ryan 06-23-2017 03:35 PM

btw to the people who own it, is Stardew Valley worth it?

If you like Harvest Moon then you'll love Stardew Valley.

Its pretty fun but after you "beat" the game it gets boring.

I'm still on year 2 and logged about 60 hours into the game so far and I really like it.

It's a great game. Would definitely recommend it.

Currentley bought the Portal bundle, Nidhogg, a map expansion for Euro truck sim 2 and FTL. Got another £10 to spend.

MisterFace 06-23-2017 06:18 PM

Can confirm, Bastion is a great game.

I'll probably pick up Subnautica and Stardew Valley since they're both on sale. A friend of mine also bought me LISA so I'm excited to try that.

5hift 06-25-2017 02:18 AM

Borderlands 2 GoTY Edition is about 9 dollars and includes all DLC.

Lol to think 4 years ago I got the standalone version for 20 bucks for the PS3 and thought that was a good deal.

Phantos 06-27-2017 05:12 PM

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines was only 10 bux

Vicipower 06-27-2017 06:46 PM

abzu, firewatch, some other games ive totally forgotten the name of
atm i just want to waste more money on games from my wishlist ((and god Im going to..))

imSupah 06-27-2017 07:05 PM

Wolfenstein: TOB and The New Order are both really excellent FPS games that are $10 each. Highly recommend picking up The New Order if you're into FPS with a sick story and fun gameplay. If you like TNO, pick up the Old Blood as it's a prequel.

Still trying to buy 2 more games but I don't know which (limiting myself to 6 games for this sale).

John 06-27-2017 08:58 PM

Bought Rust, Morrowind, Banished, and Left 4 Dead 2.

Loving this so far.

Debating on buying American Truck Simulator lol

Haven't got ATS, but I have ETS2, and it is amazing. Assuming it is basically the same as ETS2, I would say go for it.

Oooo bro I might get ETS2 instead the truck designs look more unique then the U.S one, and its cheaper :)

Ethacon 06-28-2017 10:22 PM

Fable anniversary is much cheaper than it is normally just saying.

BEH0LD iTz SAM 06-29-2017 12:54 PM

Shadow of Mordor is so boring, played 2 hours and there is nothing to do. The fact that the game gets even easier as you progress makes feel sorry for anyone who paid full price for this game.
It's $4 at least so I can't feel too ripped off and who knows the DLCs that come with it may be interesting but the base game is lame and half the time you run away from enemies not because it's hard but because it's so simple and easy it actually feels like a waste of time to fight large groups of enemies.

If you haven't played witcher 3 then put that $4 towards it because it's one of the best games you'll ever play. Don't go into it comparing it to skyrim though, skyrims got more character customisation, combat freedom and misc things to complete (the various guilds/ daedra weapons) which Witcher 3 doesn't really have but its story, graphics and sword gameplay is way better.

If you get witcher 3 I would suggest you take your time with it. Don't rush through the story, do as many side quests along the way. The thing about witcher 3 is the side quest quality is the same as the main story so they are worth doing. Best part is once you finish the main game storymode you can play the blood and wine DLC which is arguably more fun and in a better looking world than the base game, just with a shorter storyline

Red 06-30-2017 12:39 AM

Unless you have AMD

I have AMD and they work fine for me. Tweak the settings a bit, disable PowerPlay support with MSI Afterburner and I'm getting 60 FPS with a few drops when action gets too hectic. Trust me I had serious issues when I first started the games but they work wonders now on my R9 380x.

PigParty 06-30-2017 04:54 PM

Subnautica to me seemed like an underwater No Man's Sky. Looked fun for 5 hours and then seems like it would be pointless. If anyone's played it, I'd love to know how you like it.

MisterFace 06-30-2017 06:28 PM

I bought DOOM but i dunno if ill be able to run it, lets hope I can

HamStarr 07-01-2017 02:10 AM

I finally got the Valve Complete Pack and Postal 2. Then I got a key for TF2 and got a neat lookin' hat for Heavy from it. Today's a good day.

whats in the rainy day crate? ive stopped getting on sadly.

imSupah 07-01-2017 10:43 AM

Think that wraps up the sale for me. Bought:
- Tomb Raider
- Rise of the Tomb Raider
- Wolfenstein: The New Order
- Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
- Dead Cells
- Vanquish

I'm in for the long haul.

Señor Albonio 07-01-2017 01:23 PM

Get Rocksmith 2014; it's just $14 now!
It's way better cheaper than any guitar teacher and a lot more fun and rewarding than GH or RB.

I've been playing guitar and bass for years and this is still a very helpful tool and a very fun game.

Also, there's custom songs so you can literally learn to play almost any song your heart desires!

MisterFace 07-02-2017 04:12 AM

I got DOOM to run pretty good, atleast for my PC. At first I had a few problems but I got it to run at about 40fps while out of combat and about 25-30 while in combat.

imSupah 07-02-2017 09:02 AM

One more game I bought and that's Binding of Issac:Rebirth. I heard people talk about this game over and over and had to see what it was about myself. The game is truly random and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it but it's just so addicting. It's a roguelike with over 600 items (with the DLC) and each item is different. It has that feeling of okay one more run because each run is not the same at all. While I'm a bit confused with what each item does, I'm more confused by the game's mechanics and all. Really recommend if you like roguelike games and a game you can replay over and over where two playthroughs don't play out the same. Oh and if you all decide to get, just know this game is weird af lol. Weird but fun.

It reminds me a lot of the old Zelda games, it's really nice.

monstro 07-02-2017 10:14 AM

I do think I'll try to buy the BoI:Afterbirth for the mods, Enter the Gungeon, Flinthook and Hollow Night, after I post this. I would like to get more suggestions for what games I want to try, possibly outside my 2D Pixel game likings. :P

5hift 07-02-2017 03:09 PM

For those of you who like Terraria I would definitely recommend getting Starbound.

This game is really fun and it gets even more entertaining when you have mods for it(which there are a metric **** ton of).

I also feel like building is a LOT more satisfying in this game compared to Terraria. I spent a good 3 hours just decking out my ship.

Right now the game is only 10 bucks which is only 5 less dollars from the original price but hey, this game doesn't go on sale often.

Ryan 07-04-2017 09:29 AM

Bought Stardew Valley last night and stayed up till 3am playing it, theres so much to do and i've only scratched the surface 4 hours in
