~$1000 USD Gaming PC help
In all honesty I didn't want to have to make a thread asking for help, but I don't know what parts I need for my desired rig. It'd me much appreciated for any help I can get.
The games I'd probably be playing most aren't too high demanding. Things like WoW, and ESO. Most demanding would probably be Overwatch, but I'd probably want the possibility of playing games like Dark Souls 3 and The Witcher 3 once I get the rig tbh.. I don't know what I need to run these games on ultra, and I really don't want to buy something too underpowered. Resolution isn't too important but if the rig can handle something better than my old laptop (1366x768) I wouldn't mind. Also I don't think overclocking is something I'd want to do. I'd rather try to keep it below $1000 so as to not have to explain why I dropped 1k on "that damn technology", however if it's needed then I can budget it. No more than 1.5k though. My budget doesn't include accessories. Again I really appreciate any help I can get. |
Made something quickly during class. This includes windows 10 and a monitor. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Astram/saved/BdTgsY

Probably could make do with a 250gb SSD and a 1TB HDD

Graphic cards matter too, right?
I wouldn't say 1000 is enough. It looks like you want a high end gaming pc so I'd say you need around 2000. http://i.imgur.com/d5AXlkV.png http://i.imgur.com/Qen8AT1.png http://i.imgur.com/MUUTPaN.png http://i.imgur.com/2lyapcc.png Total: $1846.5 This is excluding peripherals such as keyboards, mice etc. I'm assuming you already have a monitor? You can tone down a bit on the specs but that is my recommendation. @ryan :vv http://i.imgur.com/3HtOah0.png |
Can someone explain to me what those two builds could run? I don't mind putting money into a computer but I'd like to know where that money is going.

Also I would guess that a good chunk of those 300+ games you don't even play so yeah 1TB HDD and 240 SSD should be sufficient. Quote:
Just build the guy something that'll get him by without too much trouble I don't think he has reached that level yet. |

I've changed my minds about the parts and how I'm going to help you. Like Senor said, it was rather unbalanced So The Witcher 3, on Steam there is a section for recommended specs. Intel CPU Core i7 3770 3.4 GHz 8 gigabytes of RAM Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 770 Overwatch's (Targeting 60fps) : Operating system: Windows Vista/7/ 8/10 64-bit (latest Service Pack) Processor: Intel Core i5 or AMD Phenom II X3, 2.8 GHz Video: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or ATI Radeon HD 7950 Memory: 2 GB VRAM, 6 GB System RAM https://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Spec...EZ?EasyBuilder This looks good for Overwatch - not too sure about The Witcher Though. You can use this website if you want to check out more https://www.ibuypower.com/config/easybuilder |

i3's go with nVidia xx40's and xx50's i5's go with xx60 and xx70 i7's for xx80 and higher. Power supplies are a scam, you don't need much power see: The RAM sweetspot is around 8GB, because of the rising prices and games depending more and more on CPU and GPU's these days. Motherboards are chosen depending on your needs but in most cases an $80 one does anything you need unless you want to go enthusiast. Cases can be very cheap, they're mostly for aesthetics. For coolers go Noctua, Cooler Master or Corsair. EDIT: Ryzen is also an option but RAM is finicky and motherboards seem scarce. As of now. |
Took advice from this thread and some friends https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Yogsulate/saved/dPrQ7P

Ryzen is slaying Intels Kaby Lake atm, and it offers greater potential performance than KL for a lower price. |

Pretty happy with the build now. Only two issues is the case I like is on sale for today only so I'll probably jump on the deal now and buy the parts later. But the second issue is Crono has me second guessing my CPU. Ugh... |

http://www.coolermaster.com/power-supply-calculator/ If you include everything...processor, ram sticks, hard drives, wireless card, mouse, keyboard and if he decides to max out his air flow with 7 complete fans...His Load wattage would be 340 W. |
Quote:
i cant open your build's link. id prob play it safe and get some 550w gold psu. it'll last longer and you dont have to worry as much. Quote:
a bronze 450w psu trying to push "340 W" is basically pushing the thing to work. a platinum 550w would probably still have its fan off because its cruise control ezpz for it to power your system. i would also take those measurements with a grain of salt. |
I removed the build because it ended up being a carbon copy of yours
|
so whats ur final build look like, i want fp4 to fist me it b4 u pull the trigger

Pretty much yours with the R5 1600 instead of the 1600x. |

Also I went for the matte black case I hope that doesn't **** up the build. Sidenote: the Ryzen 5 1600 comes with a cooler so really happy with that choice. |
