How to add Ram to a Laptop?

I have an Aspire E5 411, But I'm wondering if I could replace the 2gb ram to an 8gb ram.

it has an Intel Celeron N2830 @ 2.16GHz and a 64-bit Operating system, and Obviously 2Gb ram with 1.88Gb usable.

I don't know what type of ram it has, What brand it is but I have another Laptop with ?Gb of Ram which has a Dead OS which I'm planning to use for a while, While I'm saving money for a the 8GB Ram. The other laptop is an Aspire 7540.

That is all you need to know to upgrade the memory. Be sure you buy DDR3L at 1.35V for your upgrade. Do NOT buy 1.5V DDR3 sodimms. They won't work. I used this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231697

Is what I found.

Maybe that's why he's trying to replace it with 8gb?

Download some

All jokes aside, Dusty's first post should help you with your upgrade.
Upgrading RAM for a laptop is slightly harder than upgrading for PC.

2gb ram is hardly anything and yeah, it's a good idea to upgrade it to around 8gb. The only thing is, is that if your laptop only has graphics cards/ssd that aren't all that powerful, it may not not be worth getting new RAM and just buying a whole new laptop instead. what are you planning on using your laptop for?

Crucial does a good job of letting you know what's in your laptop before you crack it open and realize you've bought the wrong hardware. (They only list their own products as expected, so you'll have to browse options elsewhere.)

I see that you have one single memory slot and a maximum of 8GB supported, so you'll want to purchase an 8GB stick to replace the current one. I found a couple nice options here and here. The only difference is in brand. They also satisfy the 1.35V requirement mentioned in Dusty's post.

Be sure to watch a video of someone removing and replacing the modules before doing it yourself for the first time! :)

Just for Photoshop and Video Editing, I'l be getting a gaming computer soon. I just want Gaming to be seperated with Art/Video Editing.

This is for the 511 but from the looks of it, the 411 and 511 are pretty much the same in terms of assembly.

Laptops aren't meant to have their parts interchanged like desktops.

They're like phones now.

You buy a new one every time your old one breaks or gets outdated.

Yep, consumers have proven that both devices are disposable. Would rather buy a whole new device rather than buy a replacement battery or memory.

But yeah, laptops that require the keyboard to be removed are a pain, but not impossible.

Laptops used to be designed to at least swap out the RAM.

Laptops also used to all have USB ports and disc drives but Apple just wants to keep being a ******ed hipster by removing all of those things.
