Presidential Debates

Who won the 1st debate?

Vendetta 09-27-2016 10:41 PM

Hillary by a long shot. The amount of lies Trump told was just hilarious, how people can even consider voting for him is a mystery to me.

PigParty 09-27-2016 11:06 PM

Anyone who voted Trump is just a Trump supporter. Trump was always defensive, interrupting Hillary Clinton too much, and never attacked her on Benghazi, the emails (didn't go in-depth), or her foundation. I don't think Clinton's win was a very big win. That debate was pretty unsubstantial in my opinion. However, she did clearly win that debate. It's also not helping that Trump is already making excuses instead of pushing that he won the debate.

she lies a lot too, it's just that Trump's are usually about himself and easily catchable, while Clinton's are not.

Hillary is by far a perfect candidate, actually she's pretty damn awful. But in my opinion she is the lesser of two evils.

Trump definitely lies a lot more though, this website is pretty useful:

Pretty sure the debate won't sway many judgments wasn't a huge win if any for Hillary and a lot of people already have formed opinions lol.

Trump was doing well the first 40 minutes of the debate. The moderator was such a pro-Hillary biased puppet (who didn't asked HC about the emails, her support for war, Benghazi, the Clinton Foundation etc). Quite clear that it was a 2:1 and Trump still corrected Holt and held his own.

That "pro-Hillary biased puppet" is a registered Republican.

Does holding his own include just denying anything stupid that he's said in the past when there's clear proof of him saying it? An example being saying he never claimed that climate change was a Chinese hoax yet there's 50+ tweets of him saying it is.

It was clear that it was 2 vs 1 in that debate. Majority of the population and world can see Holt has his head far up Clinton's ass. How the hell as a "unbiased" 'moderator', you ain't mentioned AT ALL about Clinton's skeletons in the closet yet spent majority of the time on Trump's birth conspiracy and tax returns. The first half of the debate was good (the main and important questions were asked). The second half was just straight nonsense on both ends but it's clear Holt was swinging to the left.

Of course he didn't ask about all that stuff, how long do you think he had? Yes Holt asked Trump about his tax returns but he also asked about Hillary's emails to balance it out. He only mentioned the birther movement due to it's links with race which he also asked Hillary about. He then flat out lied about not starting it, when he clearly did.

I'm not arguing what he is or anything like that, but just because he's a registered Republican doesn't mean he's not supporting Hillary Clinton.

CM 09-28-2016 03:14 AM

I don't care if you're a Trump supporter, surely those who voted for him in this poll do not actually believe he won that debate?

Sardon 09-28-2016 03:14 AM

american politics-my favorite reality tv show

Hillary clinton I guess would be a better choice because trump is like the hitler and hillary clinton is like the Steven Harper of the debate
sure Harper was bad and was killing the country but he didn't want to kill an entire race, ethnic group or religion because he needed someone to blame.
Trump is a smart man but letting him be the one to represent the US would be a mistake.

Trump supporters are so jaded to the constant political correctness forced upon them that they'll ignore anything negative Trump does while supporting the delusion that if he can change just one thing for the better, no matter what it is, his presidency will be worth it.

Pokki 09-28-2016 04:36 AM

I only saw the first part of the debate unfortunately, so I'm only saying Trump won solely on what I saw. I felt like his arguments for job growth and the economy were much better than Hillary's arguments. However, I don't like Trump or Hillary. I'm more of a Gary Johnson kind of guy myself.

Seriously? You think giving the rich lots of breaks is going to help the economy? You don't see the connection between Trump being one of those people, and his family, and why he might be pushing for that? The problem is all these tax breaks and such that rich would get doesn't get put back into the businesses. It's just pocketed and the only people who benefit are the ones on top.

Eugeen 09-28-2016 03:48 PM

Am I the only one here who doesn't care about the whole thing at all?

Coco 09-28-2016 03:49 PM

I like how Trump kept changing the subject and taking forever to answer questions vaguely, if not answering them at all. What a trooper.

Areo 09-28-2016 05:59 PM

I felt that was trump lost his cool Hilliary was able to take over the debate. Trump spent too much time interrupting her and Holt. Hilliary appeared more ready for the debate than he was, often bringing up statistics to back herself up where as trump would just resort to "you're wrong".

However, I do feel the moderation wasn't great. I feel like Trump's issues were a lot more attacked by Lester than hilliarys were. All in all Hillary won the debate, had better zingers, and didn't let trump have much momentum. She did a great job making him play defensive, and she really was able to have control of the debate. Whether Lester helped with that is up to the individual thinking about it

Coco 09-28-2016 06:15 PM

I don't think Lester was on anyone's side.. I'm sure if Hillary kept interrupting Trump, had a lot more issues to discuss other than the emails, went off topic when asked specific questions and denied things that she said regardless of overwhelming proof that she said it...Lester would have done the same to her as he did with Trump.

Not that I think Hillary is perfect...they're both pretty crap, but to say Lester was being bias and obviously on Hillary's side is dumb imo. He may or may not be for Hillary, but I think he was acting appropriately telling Trump to stop interrupting Hillary during her 2 minutes she had to answer questions and repeatedly asking him the same question because he wasn't actually answering it the first few times he asked.

I wasn't even interested in watching the debate, but I got sucked into it because of what a train wreck it was.

"People around the world follow our presidential campaigns so closely to get hints about what we'll do. Can they rely on us? Are we going to lead the world with strength and in accordance with our values?"

The whole bar starting laughing when Hillary said this. She couldn't have been more wrong ; we are following the campaign for a good laugh. You've put forward two of the most hated candidates ever presented and settled with it. There are no winners out of this debate but one loser: America.

twilit 09-28-2016 09:49 PM

Its kinda funny just how differently they handle attacks.
Hillary is the child who pretends shes sorry to save her image and tries to call it a "mistake."
Trump is the child who thinks he never did anything wrong to begin with and can only defend himself with "youre wrong" "thats not true."

Sadly, I think there are a fair few on these forums that like Trump. Though I'm not really fan of either of them, I think I'd rather go Hillary than go suicide. Don't understand what people see in Trump lol.

John 09-29-2016 12:27 PM

I'll just be happy when Hillary wins this election so these republicans can crawl back into their little holes.

SomeGuy 09-29-2016 03:23 PM

People may as well not vote, because both candidates will **** America.

MikvaGraal 09-29-2016 04:01 PM

1v2 debate moderator was clearly biased towards Hillary, only asking her 2 questions compared to Donald Trump 18.hmm no questions about foreign donations from middle eastern countries? Benghazi?Clinton foundation?Email scandals?Racist remarks towards black people?AND MUCH MORE Whilst asking trump questions about insults towards rosey O'donald is this forreal?

Were you even watching the debate? Hillary was clearly asked more than 2 questions, one of those was about the emails...

But yes there's a lot they didn't ask Hillary, there's also a lot they didn't ask Trump. The debate was focused more on policy, how long do you think they had?

Look, even though I really don't like either of these people I've gotta say Trump really botched this debate with his asinine interruptions and borderline childish dialogue.

I had to stop halfway though, see a doctor, and check if my brain was developing tumors.

I give Hillary props for debating like a normal adult and not ****ing neanderthal.

That said, **** both of you. How did it come down to this?

I wonder who will win in the end.

On one side you have experience, but untrustworthiness.
On the other you have no experience, and on many accounts has been hateful.

Feels like there will be problems either way.

TWIZ 10-01-2016 05:59 AM

I feel like the whole Hillary thing is like "I'm sorry" and America is like "ok Hillary but as long as you don't do it again" and then Hillary turns around, turns into a Hillary version of Gollum and whispers,

"...my swing states..."
