No Man's Sky
So this game comes out this week, an indie space exploration game thats getting the AAA game treatment and marketing. I'm gonna wait till the Hype dies down (theres a lot) before buying in case, but it still looks like its gonna be a pretty cool game
|
looks ugly now
|
Overhyped. Looks like a game you will get bored of after an hour of flying around and looking at plant life. Cannot even explore with others.
|
game crashed when I tried to use the hyperdrive for the first time
|
It seems incredibly boring and ugly to me
|
totally wanted to get it but then I realized animal crossing is better.
|
Yeah I'm not gonna lie, this game is a LOT more shallow than it seems.
|
they did not market this game properly at all. it's overhyped for what it actually delivers on.
|
played it all day yesterday and got bored pretty quickly, it's insanely casual
|

I actually love the game and I'm playing it right now. I agree it was over hyped, but it wasn't meant for everyone. If you're a nerd like me who loves Star Trek and just space in general this game will never be boring. If you were expecting a 8/10 or 9/10 game filled with so much entertainment then you thought wrong. This game is for people who enjoy relaxing while traversing the universe looking for new interesting things to do. Their is so much lore in this game and it just looks beautiful in general. Not to mention the game was made by a very small team which is really impressive. Other games with larger teams wouldn't get as much attention as this did and to me the developers truly delivered their promise on an amazing game for casual gamers.

Pulse drive is amazing.
|
the pc version unlocks today at 1:00 pm est, despite them being shady about finding your friends, saying it was nearly impossible i ordered the game on steam, it still looks awesome.
Spoiler

waiting to see people play the superior (PC) version
|
People need to realize there is no multiplayer, only the ability to see other players, and everyone loses their mind after two players aren't able to see each other on launch day, and apparently more players on day 1 than expected. It will be fixed, its an indie game, not a ubisoft title

Kind of funny with the claims of running into another player were so small because the world was so huge, and it happened on launch day. Doesn't really seem to back up all the other claims very well... do we have another Peter Molyneux? |

There's also a whole issue going on with the European limited edition box, originally it was printed with stickers for an age rating of 12 and to include multiplayer, but another set of stickers was replaced overtop of it with an age rating of 7 and no multiplayer (peeling it off will reveal the other stickers) |

Yeah but to be fair he literally says non-stop that meeting other players would rarely happen and that this game is more single player than anything and if you're looking for multiplayer then it's not the game for you
The game was just released, could easily be server issues or disabled for a while, but the surroundings to both streamers were actually different and different events were occurring for each of them, so they weren't entirely 100% in the same environment I would say it's too early to tell, but the problem is that he's already said multiplayer has a next to none chance and people just overhyped it Also the interviews being used against him are 2 years old |
In the long run. The game just came out. It will be awhile till it is prefect.
Personally I am going to wait till the price goes down. I only view it as a single player game. Like skyrim. I don't plan on playing it for weeks and weeks. So buying it at full price to me is a waste. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
That was not what I think they were hoping for on launch day for PC
|
I've watched quite a few streams just out of curiousity. I guess it focuses on survival and exploration and has pretty much no story. It seems like most creatures you find on the planets are peaceful and won't attack you, which seems weird. It seems like a lot of grind without much challenge. It's definitely cool looking. I also heard that there's hardly any fighting on land and most of it is in ships, which would suck since they have all those guns and improvements for them. To me it looks like a huge grind game, and the reward is the GFX and cool planets and creatures you find. It's fun to watch, but I wouldn't want to play it. I don't think it's worth $60. I think it should be $30-$40 since most of it looks like a bunch of filler just so they can say the universe is practically infinite, even though that doesn't improve your gameplay. I actually think it hurts it because it could have been a lot cooler if it was a real multiplayer game where people could see your discoveries and you could adventure together.

O boy do i regret this purchase.... Oh well can't get a steam refund now I might as well go for 100% achievements

You have to love it for it is and what it can improve on because it's only going to get better from here. Kinda reminds me when Minecraft was released on consoles. I agree it does deserve a 7/10 though. |

Going back to the Sean Murray interview with Stephen Colbert:
Sean literally lies to Stephen when he says there would be multiplayer interactions. You know you ****ed up when you lie to Stephen Colbert's face in front a million+ people watching the interview. |
I actually really like the game. I enjoy being a lone space explorer, it doesn't really bother me that there is no multiplayer. It'd be cool if it got added, but it's not what I was looking for when I got it. I tried for the most part to stay off the hype train and not follow what Sean Murray said too closely. I do think it has bugs and that some things could be fixed/patched, but overall I think it's enjoyable.
That being said, I also really like this short video: |
Games like this make me wonder why the **** do they put things in a game and then take them out later, while knowing that it will affect the game so negatively is stupid af

So apparently you can get a steam refund if you have played more than 2 hours. You may need to send a support request after the refund request gets automatically declined:

I'll just go kill myself now. |
I heard Sean Murray was kind of hinting that he wants it to come to xbox too... Not sure why he would, since everyone knows it's not what it was branded as.
