Reason for Hideout Reward Removal?
 

I just received a server message stating that the squad hideout reward is no longer available, I wanted to know the reason for this as we in Accuracy have been basing non-stop for this reward and had everything planned out, we are just coming up to 4k and would get to 5k in a couple of weeks.

How tf is this an improvement, or a priority in any way? So whats next then, cuz accuracy and cbra and triction were done or almost done with it, you cant just take that away from them.

Obsidian is the only squad that actually has a hideout at the moment, and I am guessing they will keep it like they kept the 5k bot (to my knowledge)

They're too lazy to make levels and such. Sad.

Don't agree with it, yet the Obsidian hideout/place is like waste of lots of hours it's literally just few rooms spammed with NPC's(Some having like 2/3of same person) Should have made alot better.

There hasn't been any given indication on what will be replacing it, if anything at all.

Obsidain's hideout was most likely rushed due to them wanting it asap and to be the first, if triction, CBRA and accuracy had a hideout, i bet all would take time and have different textures etc... such a shame...




The only motivation for 5k was a hideout, hopefully they add something similar or greater of value to motivate others, but i don't agree with obs keeping a bot and hideout when they get another 5k reward for free, total rubbish.
Not hopping on the hate waggon, but will be if nothing is added to replace it that is better than a hideout, because a bot was the most pointless thing ever.

I'm not sure what they could actually give thats better than hideout(some history of their guild and npc on map forever) whats the rewards/times atm can't remember what they get at each milestone?

Personally the hide out was ehh. Nobody goes to obs. Its just there.

a hideout does seem more reasonable for a 10k reward than a gun skin, so maybe they'll switch them around, who knows?

This is true, Chelterrar sent that server message (and I fixed his typo), according to Info Kiosk, 5k reward is a robot, meaning that Obsidian already got his reward.

Let's wait for Chelterrar to reply to this thread.

But they changed the 5k reward to a Hideout but never changed the kiosk info probably because they forgot or were lazy, hence obs has a hideout, but also a robot because admins never took it away.

There will be a new reward coming for 10k, but right now it wouldn't even be smart to get a hideout. Since we are about to get a new tileset and therefore also a new map. Hideouts were abandoned over 2 months ago, but I just got another pm about it. So I reminded people again, since for some reason nobody knew

10k rewards are currently being worked on (idea wise), a hideout will not be possible anymore. I talked to the team about this and we agree. Gun Skin will most likely move down to 5k and 10k will be something new :)

It's just really outdated, Zone scripts are entangled and horribly confusing to update (I don't know how many scripts we had to update for those small maps updates, but they were A LOT)

Does this mean Obs will get their Hideout and Bot removed? since both are no longer a reward.

That is still open for discussion, the reason I decided on removing the hideout option is because if we come up with entire new maps and actual lore and stuff like that, it wont fit in. Also the Hideouts can not be improved or ever changed, so they will be rusty spots in a shiny new armor

Rough estimate on completion?(Last we heard you was getting daily updates of it-so surmise nearly done now)+ rough estimate on map made with it?

Still think 10k deserves a place on map with npc's of players/date achieved etc-Not a hideout though-so people can actually see without hunting down.

Thank God. Firstly, 10k hideout is cool, but requires too much work from staff. Secondly, please change the 5k reward back to the custom pet robot. A gun skin is stupid, and a pet robot is unique to Zone.

I like robot prize aswell although it isn't that encouraging for guilds as they already have pets/they not used that much now-unless it gets an addon of some sort?

The thing is, a gun skin will motivate players to continue their 1ks to 5k hours rather than starting 1k again, again, again and again for hats.
Bots in zone atm are pointless, have like 0 uses apart from bomb sparring, which is full of dust, every now and then players bomb spar.

Well the same can be said for gun skins. But I get what you're saying. When I was trying to get pet robots back as the 5k reward, I suggested letting them be a med or attack bot, but then someone would have to actually balance the med bots, which no one has ever done. I feel like 5k hours of towering is worthy of a bot that doesn't break down. Plus I wanted them to be able to have their own animation, flag, emote, and other simple things like that.

Yeah, but having a med bot that never breaks down seems OP right? even if balanced, med bots will most likely be removed from bases like spring and iricia. Inferring that bots are pointless.

uhhh. 5k is a special melee k. give it auction stats.

Current rewards:

1000 hours - Custom hat
5000 hours - Gun Skin of an always available gun (no holiday/auction or event guns)
10000 hours - Still discussed by the team

Well if the hideout does ever come back as a reward, it does't need to be placed on the gmap. There could be a button on the squad's news page or an extra page for the squad where it allows players to enter the level. Sort of like a house level works. That could clear the problem with it looking different to the tileset used on the gmap. Just a suggestion.

You guys really cant just say something and start a new reward system just like that. Should have told Zone before and gave a specific date for when the rewards were going to be changed.

Or at least change it to custom gun.

Assuming the hideouts can be like the ones on era, accuracy, and i believe triction, were going to use a custom tileset anyway, so it will be unique to their squad using their colours etc... So the change in tileset is irrelevant, unless you are forcing us (if hideout is 5k reward) to use the current tileset like what obs used which looks ugly.

Well if the work involved in making a hideout takes too much time for the levels team and prevents them from working on more important parts of the server, then we could always get ex-staff or players who know how to level. Personally I have been the levels team administrator on two private playerworlds and I'm available most of the time. I'm sure there would be ex-gfx staff or players that would be able to supply graphics.

It was just an observation and suggestion. I just wouldn't want to see hideouts disappear as rewards.

These reasons for removing it arent really that good, nor were they even a necessity as of now, like a lore? Zone never had any need for a lore, even tho it might be nice its nothing the game ever needed, and removing a hideout just to fit some "lore" is dumb because the hideout isn't required to even fit in, its one of the extraneous things made as a reward and for no other reason. None of the rewards are even intended to fit some lore, did that not even get thought through? Hats dont fit the lore or detail of the game (regarding that tileset comment) and neither does a gun skin, robot, melee or anything else that requires the slightest bit of creativity to make due to them maybe wanting a different theme or texture for it. And when yall say "we were discussing it", whos we? The other staff, who most don't even base? This shouldve been discussed with the squads who were already at 5k and almost there. And trying to say yall don't have the time is beyond bs, no ones asking yall to make it asap, levels team aren't always busy and have a lot of downtime, it could've been made with that downtime. These arguements against the hideouts are just poorly thought out ideas

Not really. Minerals are so easily gotten and common. Basers know that. The med bot itself just needs to be balanced.

Sorry, but I agree with the decision, we all know hideout is something that outlives the squad, but then again it is too big of a reward, requires great time and effort to make for a 5k prize.

Perhaps this'll motivate more squad to reach for a higher goal, and gun skin is cool:O

I understand that maybe as a 5k reward would be too low for a hideout, you don't want these to be common otherwise they start filling up the server or lose their worth. It would be more appropriate as a 10k reward as this would be less common, however the players complaining at the moment on the server would be due to being told that they would receive a hideout at 5k hours, which is why they based those hours. Accuracy only started back up less than 2 months ago (this being the time that hideouts were apparently removed), so the lack of knowledge distribution and then a sudden change doesn't help those players.

Like Fr. I get if Sub wants to complain too. These squads got 5k during the time when the prize was still the squad hideout. I think they are somewhat entitled to what they were promised. As long as they make them using their own resources.

I do think that Obs hide out should also be kept, and possibly changed... its ugly.

I do not think that Accuracy is entitled to a reverted change. They do not have 5K. Do you allow somebody who missed a flight the same ticket that the others get? No. They were late. They will get a replacement. Sorry. You are entitled to a 5K prize. Not a hide out.

I've already stated my thought on this, but yall at least need to be fair to the people like accuracy whos almost done, triction and cbra who are done and make it worth their time if this sudden and unnecessary decision still goes thru, make the 5k reward a custom gun and melee skin at the least, thats far more fair than making just some gun skin the reward after all this time spent, you gotta respect your veteran players

I agree with Geno in that those squads based expecting something that they now aren't going to get. It might have been a more effective and backed up the decision if there was a thread stating that the rewards were going to change and that the teams needs some help and ideas.

Regarding the 5k reward Geno suggested, a custom gun and melee skin would be a great replacement in my opinion as well, it supports both types of PvP players and should be rewarded to all 25 members as reaching 5k isn't just a walk in the park, it takes a lot of time, dedication and very coordinated team work to be basing around the clock. It should definitely be rewarded fairly and appropriately.

The gun skin has already been one of the rewards. I'm sorry, well, not really, but "I'm sorry" but they lost something they never had. I don't think they deserve any special prize just because it's no longer a reward for a time they haven't yet achieved. I do agree with the fact, though, that Zone changes so much **** all the time and it's sickening. Seriously, make a ****ing decision and stick with it. I get this is the first squad reward change for Chelt, but it has gone on so much before and I just hope Chelt can pick something and stick with it since no one before him could.
