every update = slower?

wtf is wrong with apple? every time i update to a new operation system, it's just getting slower than the previous one and it's very noticeable too.
i have experienced that in ios 6->7 conversion, then 7->9.
now with my mac desktop. mavericks to el captain. this stinks, why isn't there an option to upgrade it to Yosemite instead?

Yog 04-26-2016 02:58 PM

The current OS is built around the latest iPhone. That includes using extra processing power and memory. If you're using an older iPhone it's not going to be optimized for it.

LeNoobicus 04-26-2016 03:00 PM

Oooor, they're just trying to make easier things to manufacture.

Dusty 04-26-2016 04:10 PM

Gotta buy a new one now.

Zetectic 04-26-2016 04:11 PM

wow wtf apple
their marketing is dirty. i want to downgrade.

5hift 04-26-2016 06:03 PM

How old is your computer?

Try cleaning up your computer or even resetting.

I reset my laptop cause my games could hardly run anymore and boom, everything was good.

Yog 04-26-2016 06:44 PM

o its a computer. in that case same thing

my ipod is ipod5. it was the best with ios5 and 6.
my mac is late 2012 model with 8gb of ram, intel i5 with 2.7ghz.

it takes 20 second to open an app, after that it's fine. but on mavericks, it took only 5 second to open an app.
and there's few glitches where my mouth cursor appear really big for 3 second.
another case is i click a reply box and it triggers 'go back' function.

5hift 04-26-2016 08:23 PM

Oof, 2012? Could be time to upgrade.

Or at least try a reset and see how that improves performance.

Don't know why your iPod would be having trouble. Do you close background apps?

i only run 1 or 2 app at most all the time. my ipod just freezes a little or delay response. it's not a big deal. btw my macs also standing pretty strong, i should just build a gaming pc when i move to college.

Switch to the android master race.

PigParty 04-27-2016 12:58 AM

Planned obsolescence. You shouldn't upgrade your software after a certain point in time with your device if you're like me and keep your device for a while instead of getting a new one every 2 years.

Wolfie 04-27-2016 01:53 AM

They make people's devices slower and release new ones so people buy it.

Pr0m4N V.14 04-27-2016 01:57 PM

Sue apple.

Crono 04-27-2016 02:22 PM

this was a pretty big thing, they make it so you have to upgrade.

Thallen 04-27-2016 07:16 PM

Well, in most cases when something is updated it relates to adding additional features or making it more robust. This usually requires more resources. So, as software is updating on whatever device you use, it's demanding more out of your hardware.

Nooooo. It's a conspiracy for planned obsolescence.

it being a conspiracy doesn't make it untrue.

Hugop 05-04-2016 05:41 PM

I bet we need 5GB of RAM in 10years to run an operating system.

Perseus 05-04-2016 07:35 PM

is planned obsolescence really a conspiracy though?

Admiral 05-05-2016 01:50 PM

What do you mean by planned obsolescence? Manufacturers make their products with the intent that they'll break in x amount of years? Or just that software being developed into something bigger and better will lead to your hardware getting worse and worse?

Zetectic 05-05-2016 04:23 PM

android doesn't have friendly easy-use settings and have stupid google apps that u can't even uninstall.

i heard that somewhere. so people have to buy a new one every 2-3year.

It's both really. The first reason you listed is intentional, while the second reason is only potentially intentional. I mean you can find planned obsolescence in many things aside from technology devices. There's some appliances and many other things that are built so poorly now that they will break down sooner than they actually should.

Yes, if it is a "secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful."

If a group (company) plans to "secretly" make their products in a way that they will become obsolete in a certain amount of time, that is harmful to consumers. Therefore, it is indeed a conspiracy.

The nice thing about android, though, is you can always buy more space with SD cards. When you buy an Apple phone, you're stuck with that storage.

They still do it in secret. They don't announce what they do, some people have just figured it out. Still a conspiracy!
