What are you studying or plan to?

Whatever level of education you're in, I'd like some incite on what you're majoring in or what do you plan on studying. I'm currently majoring in Computer Information Systems and interested in Accounting, Business Administration, Criminal Justice and Psychology. As you can see, I have a variety of fields I'm interested in and when I transfer to a 4-year I will choose of them to double major in. I will eventually try to get a Masters in CIS and a Bachelors in the other field of my choosing. With that said, I'd like to know what's yours. Thank you if you contribute.

Note: Please provide a brief summary of your major and why you chose it.

Majoring in kicking ass in Pokemon, 1v1 me I dare you

Wolfie 01-31-2016 10:50 PM

Only thing I'm interested in is computer engineering. It's fun, and everything about computers are interesting. This year, I'm going to try to get some money, and build my first gaming PC to get some experience and for the fun

Vicipower 01-31-2016 11:01 PM

I mainly just wanna study art and live with Close with my best friend layal.
not so Brief summary of it sry bryan:
Art because I love expressing myself trough art, because I dont see any limitations on how much you can improve and because it's a lot of fun for me of course. Currently I'm in one of the top Art & Music Schools in my City so I gotta try my hardest to stay in there.

(I have English, German and italian classes and it's so hard to study for everything, including Music and math)

After I graduate I need to study abroad because the Country (Austria) apperently pays the costs so I'm probably going for a School in England.

Computer programming.

(Insert my childhood story with my computer)

Admiral 02-01-2016 12:04 AM

Currently studying Industrial Design for my degree, basically product design except theres no workshop involved - its all done on the computer rather than actually making something in the workshop. As much as I love making stuff and being in a workshop environment, I felt I could really broaden out with the course im on and find an area of design I can thrive in!

I love all forms of design, mainly because its subjective, helpful, a problem solver. Two people can look at the same thing and have a complete different opinion on it, which I love. The course im on teaches me basic principles and foundations which I can take into other areas (UI/UX/Game/Architectural) and go from there.

imSupah 02-01-2016 12:05 AM

Web Design and Development.

Just always loved messing with HTML and CSS and wanted to further specialize in it along with more codes. I also want to teach myself programming languages like C++, C#, Java and Python.

Currently very indecisive. Medicine and law are the two prospects that have been in my head but there are serious drawbacks to both.

It depends what you want to do in medicine. If you mean medical research it's a pretty steady gig from what I know. If you mean surgeon, totally know what you mean, they get worked.

Law jobs in the U.S are very iffy because more and more law schools are opening up and there are too many people with degrees looking in that field already.

Medicine requires even more schooling than law does, and I'm just not sure if I want to be in school until I'm 29.

I still have time to think about things because the college I'm had has general requirements that I have to take anyway, so I'm getting those done until I make a decision.

Marine Biology.

Been really into ecology or really any sort of biology.

Foxmon 02-01-2016 01:19 AM

I'm currently in grad school studying/taking a master in music education. I started working as a piano teacher at the age of 15 and grew up in the same building as a music school, so I've been surrounded with music my whole life. I wish to become a music teacher when I get older, but I also take classes in composition, so that I can also compose and make music on my spare time, or do it as a part-time job.

Me too, I am deciding between botany and physics and hoping to major in both eventually.

Might pick botany because you get to travel a lot for field work.

Self-teaching programming. Decided to start simple and learn Python so I can work on scratch stuff rather than hacking other projects.

Going to get a pharmacology degree because I hear that pays pretty well (I want to study Software dev or something of the sort but LOL tech sector is dead in my country)

I used to be interested in being a biologist, needless to say I've always been interested anyway, especially herpetology in particular. I would also especially love to be an archeologist, just because I would love to both travel and discover.

Currently in the last year of college(12th grade in American system i think).I'll either go for MBBS/BDS(Medicine) or 3yrs of LLB(Lawyer) and straight after that;BPTC(Barristery).I think i will probably go for BPTC since my grandfather and uncles are top notch lawyers of the country while my father is a Judge. So i think i inherited the interest for Law.

But,Bio interests me the same as Law.98% of my cousins and other siblings are doctors or becoming one. So,yea i might go for medicine just in case i really feel like it.I'll probably decide this in the next 3 months or so as the University classes will start around June-July.

Doing either will make me about 1M$ poor but it's better being poor than being illiterate.

Doubling in Accounting and Finance. I find the finance really interesting, but would rather get a job in accounting. I really dont want to have to take the CPA exam, but anymore, you have to be certified for job security.

Maybe a doctor since all of my cousins and brother are in the medical field already as well as my mother and they keep nagging me. I'm not really interested in anything though, and I don't really mind being in school for a long time so I guess it won't be too bad.

Back up plan might be in business or music. I play piano, and I've completed advanced rudiments, intermediate harmony, and the practical exam for level 10 last year, just need two more courses for music history. I might take ARCT (the professional level) but I don't really want to practice 4 hours a day minimum ahahah.

Sir 02-02-2016 01:22 AM

Then focus on Engineering/Naval Architect field.

I'd love to be a bioengineer, either genetics or neurological based. Biology is incredibly interesting. I want to help people but I'd hate to be a doctor, it's not worth the time, money, and effort in my opinion.

Wait, a human resource manager! I love organising things logically. I don't know how to describe how satisfying it is. Or a secretary? I believe they do that too.

Otherwise, I'd be happy to earn money on the side as a writer, composer, or fashion designer, which are currently hobbies :)

I didn't want to practice crazy amount of hours each day either when I started studying music. However, if you do choose to study music education or musicology there will be less practical exams and therefore lower demands on the amount of time you have to sit alone in a practice room. There are also a lot of other musical studies that have less focus on practice, and more on for example music history or composition.

Remember, this is your choice. Your mom can't choose for you, nor live your life and there is nothing wrong with trying out different things to see if they suit your interests. Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice! I don't know, I get really inspired when I listen to people play the piano but I'm honestly not that good. I'm bad at composition, since there are way too many rules that I always manage to break (I barely passed intermediate harmony). I just enjoy playing the piano when it sounds good and I get that satisfaction...might I also add that I have only played classical music up to this point, pop music rhythms confuse the heck out of me. Also my harmony teacher specifically told me not to go into music since there's barely a career path for it. I'm really confused on what I want to do honestly I don't even know what I want at this point.

I'm currently in 3rd year (last here) majoring chemistry.

I've always been into science, I found the other classes to be boring. Biology is mostly about knowing everything by heart and pure mathematics is deadly. So I decided to take a double major in physics/chemistry. Physics has too much abstract mathematics and it was 36 credits so I dropped physics and switched to a major/minor in chemistry. Regardless of how I ended up with chemistry, I find every single branch that I had so far to be extremely interesting. And next year I will start my Master degree in chemistry specialized in either chemical engineering or molecular chemistry.

I'm curious to know if anyone on graal is majoring in physics tho!

Not singling you or anyone out I just wanna use this as a general example

I think one of the few things I envy about America is in education/when you're young, everyone is so optimistic, youre told you can be president/doctor/lawyer and you keep these things in mind

Here in the UK, its quite the opposite imo. We're very pessimistic about things like that, you won't find a Brit making a decision between doctor and lawyer, they may have passion for one or the other, but it will never be 'Gee I wonder what I should go for, medicine or law?'
