Plain and simple. How much of an influence do you think your username has on how popular you become in the Graal community?

Idk if NA. is a cool nick name, but it doesn't make me popular

I think the only thing it has an impact on is first impressions.

If it's unique and memorable, then its special.

If its some overused rapper name or something than whatever.

The reason I'm asking is because I distinctly remember in 2010 I was walking around in Onnet town, and directly to the right of the statue there was some random girl who said, "pm me if you want to be popular!" So I messaged, "how?" And she said, "first you need to have a cool nickname, it needs to be short and it needs to sound cool." I tapped on my character, and I stared at my name "TWIZ" for about 2-3 minutes, just thinking about it. I'm pretty sure my profile had a black background, and I remember just saying my name out loud. I then thought, wow, I love my name for the simple fact that it was derived from my friends, my first graal friends. Their names were Sic and ShadowAssassin, and I chose Twizzler-1 as mine when I made my account. They called me Twizzler for a while, but soon just started calling me Twiz, so I changed it to TWIZ, because I thought all caps looked cool (maybe like a month after downloading Classic). Anyway, I was finished staring at my name, and didn't respond to her message. I was done, and I didn't change it because I liked it the way it was. Now I wonder had I changed it to something short and sweet, if I would have became "popular." I consider that my "Graal Destiny," as it was her who gave me the option to either choose the blue pill or the red pill. I chose the blue pill, and to this day I don't know who my morpheus is. Hell, it could be one of you guys.

I know twiz is short, but it's not really what that girl was talking about, as she also gave me a couple examples including admins.

That's a nice story. Only thing I remember about making my name Wolfie is I was banned, and tried to evade the ban via UDID Faker and went by the name Wolfie on that account. I was, for some reason, in a hurry to choose a name and Wolfie, for some reason came to mind lol. From that day, my friends started calling me Wolfie. This was back in early 2012 I believe

My first graal name was Dino..then my real name, then Mangsi.
I got the name Mangsi from Google Translate, I seached random words in random languages and came up with Mangsi, which means Ink in Javanese.
Most people call me Mang or Mango though.

Well if your name is skittles galaxy -single like a pringle ready to mingle-
U will most obviously not be popular.

Cool names can sometimes make you popular, they have to be short , be possible to pronounce and be easy to remember.
For example Sardon (6 letters)
people who have trouble remembering my name could associate it with the tower or the word Sardonic
make sure you don't have any symbols in your name

I definitely think that "Antago" helped my success. Some of the more memorable players aren't remembered & didn't go far because their names were unmarketable.

My name is a jumbled mess of numbers and letters, but at least I'm the only person who uses it.

I don't think it's because of the names. It's the personal connections you make with people that makes you remember their names. I'm not going to remember people I never had any form of connection with.

New players aren't going to know about old players because they have nice names. The only reason people would recognize you now is because of your house. It was unconventional, kind of ugly, and unique. It had shoes all over the place and a crane on the roof. There's also the Antagonists and the gravity tower.

Com013 is a perfect example for developers. His name is not very memorable, but I've seen "Scripted by Com013 (LAT)" so many goddamned times that I'll never forget his name.

My name is just a relation to something personal from real life, and I dont get many PMs asking why it is Wellington, however I do get the "ARE YOU AN ADMIN?" PM a lot, after saying no with sadness they say it's because my IG character looks like an admin?

I used to get the "u adiam?" on era, since I was like one of three people with a custom head/body. I still get it sometimes with my chimp head. Most people remember me as the ape guy rather than Twiz. I guess popularity can be associated with looks, as well.

People always ask me how I came up with my name.

I was looking for a very short gamertag, and ended up creating a completely random name. I liked it, and stuck with it for every character/account I make.

First. make a name you like and stick with it. Don't go changing it every 2 weeks so that nobody that you've talked to can remember you. Also having a signature look that people will help people remember you. get or make something unique, not just some popular customs that everybody is using. that way if they don't remember your name they may remember you by your look. this also helps with people who play with nicknames turned off. Lastly and probably most important is reputation and activity in the community. you can't become popular without putting yourself out there and engaging in the community you want to be known in. and there you have it folks! People have said my name is different and unique so I guess it's easier for people to remember. Before Xenthic, my name was my real name Ben, but my Dutch friend Kees in Ximtra suggested a name of Xenthic and I happened to like it and ever since I've kept it. Always wondered the correct pronounciation apparently it's pronounced as Zenthic because usually words with the letter X are pronounced with a Z but I've always preferred pronouncing it as X-en-thic.

I mean if Rufus can became popular with that name...............

I've always said it zenthic but it's your name so I'm pretty sure you can decide the pronunciation. X-en-thic it is!

If your name was SuperTwinkPoopLover, people would be disgusted by you. If your name was Gumballs or Cupcake, people would think of you as bubbly and cute. If your name was Jeffrey Dahmer—people would be terrified of you. If your name is Ferret12411—it is not only difficult to remember, but also disrespectful because it is difficult to type and no good game designer will incorporate Ferret12411 into their game.

Origin of my name ; Was eating chickenpotpie when I first started graal.

I've had the same name since I first started playing Graal. I named myself after my dog but sometimes changed it up...Like after I was "Coco" for a little while I changed it to "Coco ~ 2 + 2 = fish!!" or something like that. Had that name for a while until "Coco88" which was a "family name" that I had for years. I eventually grew out of that since practically everyone that was a part of the 88 family was inactive and just went back to "Coco". Short and simple.

I think your name can draw attention to someone, but I don't think it can make you popular.

As long as you like your own name, that's all that really matters.

I used Wickodd first, which my friend came up with for me before I played Graal. After I got my first head upload I went with a new name for a new look, Anakin. People still called me Wickodd though, and I love that name anyways, so I just added it after Anakin. Then one day I was thinking of the Maphasy in the names of Maphasy members, and I thought of Son Goku, so I added SoN to the beginning of my name. Pretty long name, guess that girl wouldn't consider it cool lol.

I think the name Rufus just, sort of... hits that flow of language spot on, to where it creates a satisfactory image in your mind, a spectacle of visual imagery that forces you to not only remember it vividly, but also relate. Same thing with Coco, and many others, including Furryamigo, and Shmegg, too. I think a person's name, if picked blindly, meaning he picked it based on what he likes (which could be subconscious), is a reflection of himself. Oh, and Higbey. Can't forget about that wonder of a guy.

In other words, a name, if picked blindly, SHOULD be a reflection of you. It shouldn't be created for others, but rather for you. Now, if people can relate to that name, that's when they remember it, and you become popular. I think someone mentioned earlier that a name is essentially an essay hook for a person, at least, in video games. So if they can relate to the first thing they see on you, then you will be remembered. I don't know, it's just a theory.

I believe its your look that makes you "popular" may sound like a **** but think about it.
