u have to wait until fp4 restarts the server in 2017

I dont think the lamp actually makes any light effect, and the torch often doesn't work for me either

The stone lamp sold in desitiny and the fire pit sold by the natives are the only two furniture items that actually work as lights (that i know of/currently for sale)

Coco 01-06-2016 09:44 PM

Why did I think this thread was going to be about a real lamp irl

Aguzo 01-06-2016 09:54 PM

Graalbusters here, since everyone loves syense

The light orb has a certain property constructed by the scientists of graal, which enable it to absorb all of the light from the area. Fireflies are the exception, since their organs are what makes them glow, whilst the light orb can only absorb light created from gralat energy, which is what powers your lamp post. (Which is why we don't need outlets or any wires to power your graal tv with 3+ channels).

That's correct, graal's soil receives energy from all the gralats in the ground, that they are what gives power to gralatical components.

Hence, why doomsday theorists, also known as (Insert spar guild name here), have been warning us about how taking gralats from the ground will destroy graal, and when we have no power the land will die. Of course, this is all speculation, since it can't actually be proven.

There's no such function hehe.

try layer 3.

As I said layer 3 only makes the lamp well visible itself (just like those head mannequins you can see in the pic). No light effect tho.

Lamps and torches now have proper light effects. If you have any suggestions for other furniture that should have light effects you can post them here.

Skull candle at flea market is the only one i can think of
And the 'Asca lamp' at delta island garden shop

Although, the explosion effect of the firework furniture/item and the lantern item seem to go behind the dark layer applied in houses, whereas it'd look better/make more sense to be in front

Being able to make lamps brighter/dimmer or change the lights colour would be a cool feature as well

Thank you Dusty!

In terms of other items that should light up in the dark; Along with what's already been mentioned, the candles from club crypt (both the crypt candles and the regular candles) and the "Light Show" furniture item (obtained from Christmas gifts). I'm working on a dance club of sorts, and I have to put the light show item on layer 3 in order for it to light up properly in the dark. Oh, also the "dance tiles" from club crypt (which I can't put on layer 3 since I need players to be able to walk on top of them).

If you can add that effect to these furniture items, I'd very much appreciate it.

Regular candle, Crypt Candle, Skull Candle, Birthday Candle, Asca Lamp, Samurai Lamp, and Light Show have all been updated. It may seem like some of them don't have a light effect(such as the regular candle) but it's simply because they give off an orange hue light instead of bright yellow.

Dance floors do not give off any light.

Can you add in the option to turn it off? My house is getting laggy with all my pumpkins on and candles

Ya I'll try to do that tomorrow.

If you got nothing to do,
Well i got a couple of tricks for u

JUST PUT THE LIGHT ORB UNDER THE SO CALLED LAMP

4-Lom 01-11-2016 03:37 PM

Lanterns could get the same light effect? That would be cool. Not to be a squeaky wheel or anything...

I would appreciate this as well. I love the glow effects, but there are some of my furniture items I don't want to glow (for example, the skull candles I place underneath certain furniture to add dialogue in a specific spot. I often use the skull candles for this because of their small size and cheap price).

What would be ideal is an "enable glow effect" checkbox added to all furniture that has this effect (it would be defaulted to being on). If that's not doable, perhaps you could adapt the "this furniture should be on" checkbox function (that's already integrated into the jack-o-lanterns and crypt candles) to the rest of the furniture that gives off light?

I believe he's talking about adding the glow effect to the lantern item. It currently doesn't work that way, and it would be nice to actually be able to use the lantern to give off light in darker areas. And it would still be client-side so players couldn't combine their light and make "suns". Or, perhaps the lanterns could function the way they used to (and give off the glow effect) but only in houses/guild houses?

Dusty 01-14-2016 07:03 PM

There is one furniture that already has an on/off option(candle). I'll probably implement that feature into the other furniture but it'll take time. It also disables options like push/pulling and message on touch.

As for the lantern sure. It already has a light it's just somewhat dim.

Dusty 01-29-2016 07:37 PM

I have added toggle options to all the furniture posted in this thread.

Just noticed this when I logged on today. Thank you so much Dusty. I couldn't be happier with these changes.

I do have one minor request though. Is it at all possible to keep the "message on touch" function on the furniture items that now have the "enable lighting" checkbox? I ask because I would often use candles as a way of adding dialogue to certain spots in my house, either under larger furniture or under furniture that doesn't have the "message on touch" option (given their small size, they were one of my go-to items for this purpose. Especially the skull candles, given their affordability).

I have a feeling this can't be easily done, and if that's the case, don't worry about it. Just asking. :)
