Star Wars 7 (Contains Spoilers)

Anyone here a Star Wars fan? Im going to watch the movie tomorrow, and I cant wait! :D

SomeGuy 12-16-2015 08:06 PM

Disney haven't told us about the fact that the characters will start singing throughout the movie and that the rebels and baddies at the end of the film will be friends and live happily ever after.

Mangsi 12-16-2015 08:10 PM

I love Star Wars but I refuse to watch the new movie. I don't like the fact that Disney owns Star Wars.

You do realize you're making assumptions without actually seeing the product?

Colin 12-16-2015 08:49 PM

Movie was really good, I like the story of Kylo Ren a lot, definitely worth the watch.

Disney makes some actually good films that so I don't exactly see what is so wrong with them making the new Star Wars.

Friends are super hyped to see this but unfortunately I'm too busy to go out with them to see it ;.;

Livid 12-16-2015 10:27 PM

Cant wait to see it.

DJ Meow 12-16-2015 11:02 PM

I might watch with a few friends, but i've never watched Star Wars. So i'm not sure it's a good idea.

metal 12-17-2015 01:23 AM

I was gonna go see it with friends but its god damn sold out everywhere.

Yog 12-17-2015 01:37 AM

Disappointed they chose to not go with George Lucas's plans, but I'll watch it and probably love it regardless.

Spoiler: The person who kills Kylo Ren is Jar Jar Binks with a lightsaber.

I liked the movie, however (don't continue unless you have seen it, 100% spoilers/ kinda a review

Ok so basically it follows the exact same formula as episode 4... The chick ren, rye, red, whatever, she is basically luke with the force power discovery, han solo acts as the father figure (ben kenobi) and makes the ultimate sacrifice trying to save their loved one (kenobi dying for vader, han solo dying for his son), both involve the giant super weapon, (deathstar and planet death star) that initiate the conflict by blowing up a significant planet (alderaan in a new hope, corosaunt/the republic in awakening) and they literally both end the same way, with the same pilot from episode 4 shooting into the weakspot thus blowing up the deathstar or in awakening, the planet).

I also felt like the silver storm trooper (forgot the name) was very, VERY underused, only appears in 2 scenes and you never see her in combat and is basically humiliated.
The comedy was nice but honestly felt kind of unexpected/ out of place for starwars since apart from the han solo humour there really wasn't any to this extent.

As a villian I felt kylo ren to be pretty unintimidating, I mean vader had the suit, the sound, the mystery, kylo ren is just a wanna be sith who threw baby fits (presumably because he has an unfortunate gap in his front teeth) and it felt especially odd when they gave him some of those comedic responses.

The finn character I didn't mind, he was fairly entertaining but i'll admit, I was expecting him to be the one with the force and not the chick since he had the saber in all the trailers.

The saber fight scene was probably one of the best saber scenes in any of the star wars movies.

But yea finally, the only thing I found kinda weird was the ending when the chick found luke, and they had that awkward stare contest whilst she held her saber out to him for about 2mins with them both just staring at each other. Maybe say hi? And there was also very little mourning for han solo.
I'd have thought the ex captain of the rebels, husband of the princess and friend of luke skywalker would get more than just a few dry tears from leia and a chewbuca kill spree, like idk maybe a funeral? Or show luke hearing about it. I mean when they landed after saving the day it seemed like the ren/ryn/rice/red chick was more upset about han dying than anyone else, you could even see chewbucca celebrating in the background with the other rebels whilst leia and rin chick were hugging.

YES I KNOW I'M CRITICAL. I have seen a lot of movies and it's just something I do.

TLDR; the movie was good, worth the hype and watch but it wasn't perfect

TWIZ 12-18-2015 04:27 PM

Honestly when you put it that way I guess it did have some flaws but so did the other Star Wars films prior to that, I was kind of pissed off that they did little mourning for Han Solo since he was apart of The Rebellion ages ago and that whole Luke and Rey scene kinda had me like uh okay at least say something to leave it as a cliff hanger to give us an idea of how the next one is going to start but I mean I still got chills seeing that scene,It did remind me of "A New Hope" it had a lot of similarities but I think J.J. Abrams might surprise us with the next two films, And who knos maybe Finn will be a Jedi also,Atleast I hope so I mean I'd like to see him fight along side with Rey especially since they've made him look that way in the trailers, And the chromed up captain storm trooper was Captain Phasma :)

He brought comedy and a sense of the old films, now thats he has gone, the films will never be the same. :(

Mangsi 12-19-2015 02:36 PM

Okay, the plot was ehh in my opinion. The fight scenes were okay, but...
Spoiler
NO WHY WAS SOLO KILLED DMDKAKANDBXIDKSKSN BADBADBADBAD HE HAD SO MUCH TO LIVE FOR.

The ending was just bleh.
I wouldn't watch it again.

Pimpsy G. 12-20-2015 12:31 AM

Saw it twice. Once with family and once with friends. I really liked it. Yeah the basic plot is mostly A New Hope, but everything else was great. The new characters, the action scenes, the music, its all the best in the entire series for me. And the stuff it sets up for the sequels could be really interesting.

Spoiler
The death star 3.0 was the only part that bothered me when it comes to A New Hope homages, but the new stuff that was happening between Finn, Rey, Han, and Ben was the real focus during that part of the movie so it wasn't so bad.

Berry 12-20-2015 05:07 AM

Spoiler
Ok so does Kylo Ren actually die in the end? Like I know he is still alive when Ren/Ray leaves but does he die with the planet or get picked up? I've read a couple of places saying he doesn't die because of his huge role and such, but I feel like the movie should've at least shown him getting carried off, idk. Great movie none the less :)

Spoiler
No he wouldn't have died. He wasn't wounded too badly considering he's a force user who are traditionally tougher than normal human beings (at least they were, considering that the universe was reset we can only assume it holds true). It's not impossible that Snoke foresaw his fall and ordered troopers to go to him before the explosion and he was in the facility towards the end of the film but who knows really.

Berry 12-20-2015 10:57 PM

I'm also really thrilled with the lightsaber duels as well as the lightsaber sound effects, they seem to have really improved since episode VI or III

Admiral 12-20-2015 11:53 PM

kudos to you guys for putting stuff in spoilers, I avoided this thread until I saw the film (few hours ago) and yeah, I agree with mostly everything everyone has said here

I'm happy w Disney though, they did a good job. Look forward to Ep 8!

no, Snoke orders General Hux to go save him so it is assumed that he lives. would kinda be ridiculous to kill off one of the only dark force users so soon.

This movie was awesome. Honestly, the authenticity of the sets, and the music, and the fight scenes really touched me as a huge Star Wars fan. I felt like the references to the old movies is meant to feel nostalgic, but some references did feel a little over-the-top. Overall, 9.5/10, would totally watch again.
