GST Hats
 

What do you all think about the GST hats? I think they went with a different approach in terms of style. I'm getting a less "warrior-ish" type of feel and more of a "big and fun" style. My favorite is the frog hood and the octopus mask.

The hats:

I like he black helm on the mixed side and the grey red from iOS.

I also love that they're getting away from warrior ish stuff

The cat is mine! I got dibs, and no one is allowed to grab it, even if they got 1st place.

I like the Black mixed one. The Cat one looks decent if it wasn't a gif it just seems it's one of those hats you'd get form a hat shop like Nexus or something. I just dislike the third mixed hat seems oversized and idk what is going on with the goggles.

I like the red iDevice hat and the GST engraving looks neat. The frog one yet again seems oversized like the kitty one but oh well. I like purple in terms of originality but i'd be bias in my opinion because i hate hats/masks that cover the face.

Is it just me, or is this hat off by 1 pixel to the left? Maybe the head is not centered.

I think this is a good step forward from the past for sure. Good job to the staff!

Personally I like either really small hats or really big ones so the giant cat and the other giant one appeal greatly to me.

Personally, I prefer the black helmet only. The Cat is too big for my liking and the goggles one looks, well, not the greatest. I still think iDev has better hats although my favorite of all of them is Black helmet. Next GST admins should make a MASK, HELMET, and a HAT. GST hat for more variety.

Cat helmet is too big! Don't choose that one guys, it's pretty much a store hat, don't choose :D

"Warrior-ish" hats are what the GST is about. It is a sword fight to the death after all!
All hats are a massive improvement, overall, winners of mixed are gonna definitely come away happy with a hat, love the helms :D

I have 22 knight helmets... no default hats included.
2 are from 1k Guilds
2 from events
1 from gst

I think once you have a lot, you don't really want them over nice hats. Maybe if the cat was a little smaller it would be the most wanted one, but I still would want the cat hat.

I agree that it's too big, but it's cute. It's also .gif so that's a plus.

they were supposed to be big, obnoxious, cool hats. that was the criteria instead of battle related hats considering those have been overdone and complained about numerous times.

Well done to all these people. They addressed a lot of the main concerns that have been given in the past, and I for one am happy with the step in this direction. Much more unique stuff this time.

The black hat has a unique pattern and looks really nice :). Only criticism is the sizes for some of the other hats though but it's still an improvement. Black Hat size is perfect :)

If only they made sick hats like that for shops (for cheap) but nooo we get overprice poop hats.

I dont have any problems with the hats individually; they all look nice this time. However, 3 of the 6 have the exact style: the huge frog, the huge cat, and the huge pilot cap/goggles.

Most artists we hire have similar style, but everyone has their own unique different version, some just maybe be closer then others. All of the hats are well made regardless on now similar the style.

Cat hat needs to be checked, the eyes have transparency issues.

To many hats that are similar in size, styles and shading. They should have a variety. The criteria for the hats should be that you submit one cool hat, one tough hat and one cute hat. Copying this christmas hat submission method would provide a greater variety of gst hats.

Who gets to judge what is counted as a cool GST hat?

Took the words right out of my mouth. A cool hat could be anything at all , it depends on what an individual person perceives as cool , may it be from a big fluffy cute panda hat to a big scary flaming dragon.

props to KMS for the cat hat on the mixed side and 4oh4 for the the octopus hat on the idevice side, looks like something that I would have won with US in 2010 or something.

So to join the GFX team you have to have a similar style to the rest of the GFX team?

I agree I dislike the size especially at the back. Especially since 3 of them are the same size it just feels like something I'd see at them hat shops. But the idea was great and the front side looks the best but it feels too big width wise.


Yeah I agree instead of making similar style hats more variety would be great. More gif hats 4 gst I love the cat blink.

the spiked helmet whatever we're calling it would be good if it didn't say "GST" on the back, i hate how people keep writing that on GST hats.

I prefer these much more than the last few batches. More unique. Idk if the rest were kidding but I'm not. I'd wear the giant goggles one 10x as much as the lava helmet one, for example.

I like the engraving but all GST hats should get the options to have GST engraved on them or not.

it's up to the gst staff's approval. winners can ask gfx artists to remove it. even i can do it.

The hats with 'GST' engraved on them have proven to be popular choices in the past (I believe Alumni currently owns all of the hats with GST on them), which is probably why they did it.

I like this idea, the Viking hat for example looks fine with or without the engraving so it would be quite nice to give the winners the option of having it engraved or not. This should only be for a few hats though, as GST on something like the octopus or cat hat might look a bit strange.
