Colin 08-21-2015 02:44 AM

What's your budget?

Economy is the most important factor here. (things like cost of living and what not)

Also, would be nice to know what sort of job you want or will want in the future, just helps with knowing what your income will be like.

Nanner 08-21-2015 02:54 AM

True with the job thing. You should get 1 steady job and stay somewhere and make good money instead of moving all the time. Idk

Ew no. Just my preference I hate the city. And I would say Colorado. Or a place with awesome nature. Always been my dream to have a house in the middle of a forest in the mountains.

You should go to college

He could do college where he moves given he's already worked and saved up money (but I don't think he has)

That's what I'm doing next year (18 this December)

You should look for cities on your own Sardon, your preference is most likely different than everyone else.

Gomenasai, my name is Ken-Sama.

I’m a 27 year old American Otaku (Anime fan for you gaijins). I draw Anime and Manga on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior Japanese games. (Disgaea, Final Fantasy, Persona series)

I train with my Katana every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is folded over a thousand times, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my sword license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak Japanese fluently, both Kanji and the Osaka dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Japanese history and their bushido code, which I follow 100%

When I get my Japanese visa, I am moving to Tokyo to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become an animator for Studio Ghibli or a game designer!

I own several kimonos, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Japan, so I can fit in easier. I bow to my elders and seniors and speak Japanese as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Wish me luck in Japan!

P.S I am not into all that anime stuff really and media like shows/game isn't what influenced my decision

Just want to travel and it's a nice location in the Eastern Hemisphere which is surrounded by countries I would also like to visit, I also enjoy the fact it's an island.

The icing on the cake is the fact the science program there is very good and it has amazing job opportunities for people who can speak both English and Japanese.

It's not hard to move out young if you plan everything and save up money for a few years, I've got 6 months of paid living which gives me time to make some connections and set up roots.

Anyway this is about Sardon not me, good luck with whatever city you choose!

There's literally no difference between him going to college where he moves or him going to college where he is now.

The only factor is the fact he has to pay to live on his own, which he would probably end up doing regardless of what college he went to.

But he already said he's doing college where he is now anyways

When you are moving across the world to somewhere you have never been there is definitely a difference.

I was more referring to "saving up money", its a little late for a 17 y/o to do that.

Japan has a very rich history and culture, but it gets hit by all kinds of disasters constantly. They are right along the pacific 'ring of fire' and they get a lot of earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, and so on. Not to mention, the heating and air conditioning in most homes is pretty terrible.

Learning the language is also very difficult because after you learn all the basic stuff, it all just becomes learning vocabulary words, which have different symbols as well. Most high school students in Japan know about 10,000 different characters on average.

A lot of people there also dislike foreigners. (Gaijin) And they are really conservative and into rules and manners. It's a beautiful country and all, but it's almost impossible to assimilate with their culture if you're not from there yourself.

All that being said, I would recommend looking at an index of the 'happiest countries on earth' and then check into important factors you'll need to consider, like real estate costs and availability, laws and tax rates, commonly spoken languages, military preparedness, cultural norms, etc.

How much time have you spent in Japan???? I can guarantee that they aren't as bad to foreigners as you claim, clueless as to where you even got that idea from. They are pretty friendly people.

You can go do a quick Google search and read multiple blogs about people who've traveled there and loved it and the people there as well.

The language isn't "very difficult" either, most people just make that assumption because it's their first time seeing a language style like that. It's exactly like learning another language, start from the bottom with the beginner stuff and keep slowly advancing and it's very easy to understand.

People saying it's difficult would most likely struggle with learning other languages as well, some people are just good with this sort of stuff and others aren't.

For every website out there touting how wonderful it is, there are plenty of others who do not agree.

They are hospitable, sure, but they are more subtle about the things that get on their nerves, and their culture reinforces politeness so they don't often get in your face about it or anything. But it's still there, just like it is in any other country.

Quote:

Most high school students in Japan know about 10,000 different characters on average.

(Fun fact: I was wrong about that figure. 2,000 Kanji and 10,000 words is about how much students know by their last year of university studies. However, there is no definitive amount of Kanji out there.)

Believe it or not, in literally any language, a wide range of vocabulary words still takes a long time to learn. You can say stuff like, "Oh, well some people just get it and some don't," but the fact of the matter is that their language also involves a multitude of different symbols tied to words and ideas instead of just a basic alphabet like most other countries use, and that adds complexity to the process of learning. Hiragana and Katakana are easy to learn, but when you get into Kanji, it's a lot of hardcore memorization.

Government is ok

of problems which is why I hate weaboos, they don't know what they are talking about.

Japan has a high suicide rate, you are overworked, you will have no time for any sort of relationships which is why virtual relationships are very popular, it the only thing that can satisfy without taking too much time.

Inferring everyone in Japan is a rich, suicidal weaboo...

Yeah you really wouldn't fit in there.

I guess you can cross America off your list if you think everyone here is a gun-hoarding neonazi.

Stereotypical
If I had that attitude I would tell you that their were ninjas and samurais roaming around and everyone is watching anime 24/7.

Japan is a country that has a couple issues one must take into concideration
I have heard from people who have lived in japan for a long time that their is a high suicide rate
maybe you should look it up before you critisize me for being " stereotypical."

When did I mention that everyone was rich?
I dont think that was in any of my posts

Lmao, you listed weaboos as one of "Japan's problems".

Clearly you yourself don't know what stereotypes are.

You wanna narrow down the list of countries you'd like to move to by the number of "issues" they have?

Stay home kiddo.
