Admin events

So, ever since I started playing, I've ALWAYS tried to join events every time one popped up while I was on. There's the "Join Queue" button, and when I press it, absolutely nothing happens! I looked it up, and apparently, you're supposed to be warped somewhere to where the event takes place, but when I press it, nothing happens. And then another message pops saying the event is over and blahblahblah won. I get really angry because I can never join the Queue! What can I do to join?

Aguzo 08-02-2015 09:33 AM

If only staff would have a dedicated Event Team and host multiple events at the same time.

One doing lame chance.
One doing sumo.
Another doing trivia...
I don't even remember what other events there are, cause they rarely ever host anything besides chance these days... >_<

Horse race... if that counts
Bush race, I don't remember if they still do that.
Spider pit.
And some event that has spikes...
that's all I can remember iClassic having

The secret to winning trivia is googling the question.
I have 3 event hats, all from trivia.

isn't it obvious? after the message got to the playerbase and the admin wants to start the event, all the people who tapped the 'join' button will be randomly selected

@Aguzo, the one with spikes is called Dodge.

Events I know:
- Trivia, Chance, Bush Race, Cliff Climber
- Jump & Run, Sumo, Team Fort, Math Race
- Hide & Seek, Treasure Chests, Horse Race

These are the few they normally do, I think there's more but not to my knowledge.

Droid 08-02-2015 12:23 PM

Go to UN if you want decent events, player count never exceeds 40 normally so you always get into one

I'm not a fan of the queue system, I haven't been in an event since it was introduced. I think the warpers were much better because they rewarded players who actually had experience and knowledge about the map, plus, finding the warper was often more fun than the event itself.

Except a couple hundred players in one level trying to get through an event warper would cause major lag, which is the number one thing players complain about on graal. The queue event system eliminates that problem.

The amount of lag that such a situation would produce really isn't a big deal. The crowding of the level would probably only last for a minute or two and if you consider how many players are already clumped together in places such as graal city and the adoption center, it's not going to have a huge impact in the grand scheme of things. I think the benefits of using warpers, some of which I stated earlier, far outweigh the issue of lag in this situation.

Edit: Also, if you consider how infrequent events are, it makes the occasional lag spike even less significant.

Aaron 08-03-2015 02:16 AM

The warpers were better, if you think otherwise, you're wrong.

Y'know, I never had a problem with event warpers and lag before and I used to play events 24/7 with (ET). The thing is, event warpers typically took some time to fill up, so it actually (in most cases if the hint wasn't painfully obvious) wasnt a couple hundred people bombarding a level at once. It was gradually filled up thus meaning the level was never actually laggier than any other level.

I know another point was that "everyone gets to play now," but really, it's a lot more selective than the event warpers ever were. I've never been selected in the que, now i dont honestly care, but I'm just using it as a point. Not only that, but i'm sure the people who actually do get picked for the event have no clue as to what they're doing. Whereas the event warpers kinda held a fine comb through the people who participated, because the ones who put the work into finding the warper obviously really wanted to play.

Also, I always really enjoyed finding the event warpers. Going on a search for event warpers was half the fun of playing in events. It was entertaining to work with your Guild and find the warper together, or having to use your graal knowledge to find the door using their hint (at times there weren't even hints). What im trying to say is, the removal of event warpers kinda dumbed down the whole experience for me. Rather than actually having to do some work (which was fun) to get to the event, you just press the button and cross your fingers that you're picked. It's a lot less interactive and entertaining that way. But that's just me.

Well a lot of the events are more fun imo, and you can repeatedly join them and get 20 different events in an hour but they're ones that can't easily be played with 100 people.

To be honest, the game was twice as fun when events actually involved warpers. The warpers where fun, you got pk's through crowds and you also actually got to participate by your own will and not to mention it showed which tower members were loyal or not which was quite funny. I understand warpers were removed for lag purposes, but isnt there a way to just make an area were you can see only yourself or whatever before actually placing the warper? I think this que crap only made things worst regardless of the lag complaints. The admins dont host crap as much, all you see is chance, trivia, that climbing event, and sumo. Where the hell are the other events? Jump & Run, Hide and seek, Bush race, Horse race (its used but not as much anymore), Spider pit, That fort event. In short ever since the que change happened, events got harder to join even though people say its a chance for everyone to play its mostly the opposite and not only is the events worst but now we have to repeat the same ones? Jesus.

Common Sense 08-03-2015 04:53 AM

The main thing they want to do is give everyone a chance at joining and possibly winning an event. (ET) used to constantly win and find warpers, and soemtimes newer players wouldn't even know where to go.

if they didnt know where to go, what makes you think theyd even have a chance of winning the event (let alone know what they were doing- because if i were new to the game i'd be confused)? i get everyone should be included, but there's situations (such as this one) where playing the game longer and having seniority is a perk/needed (no one was good at sparring when they first start playing the game, it takes time and effort). play longer, learn the game, and then you'd be able to even have a chance at winning anyways.

on a side note, (ET) was only successful because we always worked together. you could say thats "cheap/unfair" but is it really? anyone had the opportunity to do the same as ET, we just happened to become pretty damn good at events. it's just like a guild dominating the GST every season. I'll use Alumni as an example because they've won consecutively, but it's not unfair because they've earned it. same goes with ET as you mentioned it.
(also, there were a lot of occasions that ET didn't win anyway)

Dread 08-03-2015 05:36 AM

lol you have a lower chance to get into the event "chance" than you do to actually win the event if that puts anything to scale here.

I think the queue system is just fine, although I don't think it should be used as frequently as it is. I'd guess that probably 90% of events use the queue system. Would be cooler if it was a 50/50 split between warpers and queues.
