Windows 10!
So its now available and its also possible to jump the que for the download with a cmd command.
I've heard from my friends its great and only uses 1GB of ram, sadly I won't be able to find out as my pc overheated spontaneously in the middle of the upgrade screen. Any thoughts and opinions on the new OS? :D |
DO NOT GET IT.
You won't be able to play games as hardly any games are compatible with Windows 10 yet. |
I don't play games so it's downloading atm.
|
I've already installed it! Looks great.
|
I'd say wait a little bit to upgrade.
Takes some time for them to get the bugs out. |
Frustrated because GetWindows10 won't run on my laptop for some reason and when I run the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's website it gives me the error "Something happened" as soon as I tell it to upgrade the current PC.
Something indeed has happened. |
Had it for months running the developers preview mode, they are continuing the program so users can still test new features before they are added so quick link in case any of you want to sign up.

I like it. Especially Cortana and the personalized start menu.

For those of you who can't figure out how to upgrade:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10 I like the look of the new start menu but I hate how everything you pin gets added to the "tiles". I had to re-install classicshell (which still works btw). Quote:

The OS feels really fast and smooth to me. Apart from a couple customization bits that I feel will be available in the future, it definitely feels a step ahead of Win7. Over coming months, we will see if it lives up to its predecessor's stability. |
DVR feature looks pretty cool, definitely want to try that out.
EDIT: Alright, just installed it. Not bad, honestly. Everything is crisp and not so many colors to make it feel like a bad LSD trip. Performance-wise, things seem a little slow for me but that may just be a problem on my side. Overall, I think this is good and if you can, upgrade to it. Oh, and my games run just fine. Been playing around with the DVR feature and works really well. |
My sister's Acer laptop got its recent Windows 10 Upgrade. I really love it. I had trouble in some things before, but I feel smoother using the Windows 10 unlike Windows 8.
Plus Microsoft Edge is darn fast. |

Oh crap I shouldn't have upgraded because World of Tanks isn't compatible yet.
Just do what Draenin said, geez. |
Liking it for the most part except for one big annoying bug. Whenever my laptop is in sleep mode for awhile, I'll open it up and it'll have a black screen instead of my lockscreen. Sometimes it's hard to even tell if it's off. I hate force shutting down my computer so I hope I can find out what the source of the issue is.

Apparently, some people with AMD graphics cards have been experiencing the black screen issue. Try updating the driver. If that doesn't work, wait a few more days for AMD to get their stuff together.

Im gonna get gentoo dis is stupid

Worth installing 10 though? Is the whole mobile phone-style interface as intrusive as 8? |

I've gotten stuck installing windows 10 twice, both at 32%. Now I'm downloading windows 10 for the third time now since when I restarted my laptop it didn't save for some reason.
|
Video card vendors are trying to catch up with the Windows 10 release at the moment. That's most likely the reason for funky video output issues people are having.
Probably gonna wait to upgrade until most of the issues get ironed out. I did get to try it out a little bit yesterday, though, and was pretty pleased with it. Rule of thumb for pretty much any OS is to wait until they patch stuff first, and then use it. |
Upgraded and loving it! I love how they brought back the start menu!
|
Question. If I upgrade the OS, will I lose everything on my hardrive?

Dang, I need a clean-up xD

Found this today and couldnt resist.

Agh. My computer still has a black screen when it enters sleep mode. I searched online and several HP users have the same problem, but no solution is present. If this continues with no solution I sadly will have to switch back. I leave my computer in sleep mode a lot so this is a big no no glitch for me.

Seems to have ****ty DPI problems.

Whether they fix my problem or not, I found another reason to switch back:
http://imgur.com/gallery/I8u2G Even if I disable all of these privacy settings, they are apparently reactivated by a Windows Update according to the commenters... I don't think I want that. Edit: Now another poster is saying some of the information is incorrect and a lot of people are overworrying. I don't know. I'll keep it at 8.1 for now. |
upgraded, the taskbar icons are way too small, even with the small icons settings turned off... this is at 1920x1080 too...
|
Lol, I'm still on preview
