This thread is aimed towards the players who playedservers that used the sword-based spar like I classic does. So who are they? The most badass mother****er to ever spar

Greatest sparred ever?

1998-1999: Clops, Killermech, Entrancer
2000-2008: Brett, Highlander, Thallen, Ares, Halo, Neo, Deophite, Quick Strike
2009-2011: Prado, Zeross, David

No particular order and I know a very limited amount about the 1998-1999 period
There are tons of others worth mentioning but I think this is top tier in terms of tournament wins and overall success in sparring on PC

Kuz 06-17-2015 05:03 PM

Jet was a good sparrer

Thallen 06-17-2015 07:41 PM

Yeah, but he wasn't anywhere close to the people in that list
Lots of players were server-specific sparrers, especially when playerworlds were still popular

For example, Classic: Exodus, Clel, Jet, Rob, a bunch of others
Doomsday: Sliq, InZane
Babylon: David, Stella, Sephiroth
Delteria: Evenglare, Listless
Atlantis: Fuma, XStorm, Destroyer
UN: Neo, Magnus, NoMaD, a bunch of others

People like Ares, Halo, myself, etc. in the list I mentioned kind of hopped from playerworld to playerworld and just won whatever weekly tournament was going on at the time, would just spar everywhere and show up 30 minutes before a tournament and annoy everyone

Anyway, if I had to narrow it down to "best ever" from those time periods, I don't have enough knowledge of 1998-1999 to really say, but I'd say Brett for 2000+ onward just based on sparring style, overall wins, how often he played, etc.
I think the majority would probably say Neo though

Thor and Mighty dominated sparring on Classic during the end of Classic. It always used to be them 2 winning the tourneys.

Gotta agree with most of those. My best of all time is Brett or Ares. Waaay back then I mostly stuck around on the smaller servers (Xone, Enigma, Sanstrata, Babylon etc) and no noteworthy sparrers played those that you haven't mentioned so I got nothing useful to add here.

Believe it or not, c-style was the counter to circle style which I saw a lot in 2001.

Originally DraXi and Killermech were best sparrers and Clops/Highlander were the best godlike Pk'rs.

Entrancer aka Bloodysin was sparring when I was at my best in 99 and I beat him in more tournies than he did me js I have proof thanks to clops and some old screenies from then =p

I was at my prime and confidently said "I was best in late '99 and throughout 2000" always trying to find challenges but left the sparring scene in late 2000 to make Shaded Legend and work for Graal as a brand and didn't return to sparring until 2007.

What? HL and I pk'd? I know at least I didn't. Cyrus (Graal Elite) and I started hosting spar tournaments early. Baddies was a pk guild before spar guild, but I didn't pk much. So random, I've never heard you call me a pker before, must have been the NBK story.

contego 06-19-2015 08:15 PM

I remember you and baddies warring/PKing a lot just south of Zol's and inside Angel Clan. =o HL was an evil evil PK'r though, literally hunted ppl down warping (random warp ring) all over the map for hours.

I once tried to go 1000-10 on another acc. Too hard, plus boring. Was fun when people would call me out though, and chase me in 2014. Quit then came back a year later, I don't like that account. Makes me feel like I wasted time on main, but then I realize that my main gave me all the experience :D

Chibi: 750-50, and his 2nd acc 361-8 (2010-12)
Some girl had a huge ratio, but ended up getting reset.
Praydoh: 12.xx w/l (2011-12?, no clue)
I got 1000-65 (2015), I was planning on getting 2100-99, but was too lazy and bored to continue. When your ratio matters, I would take every spar seriously and not for fun, I hated sparring on that account. I forced myself to get at least 1,000 wins. Would be as defensive as possible, checking opponent's flag before bomb exploded.

Yes, Characters Japan. Chibi still owes a lot of people (that have quit sadly) a 10k mount, including me. He sparred when there was no mixed room, he delayed I think, since he lived in Japan, so that might have helped a lot as well.

There was a point in time where I won so many of the weekly tournaments on that server that they made a 200-hour requirement to enter... I idled to 200 hours, then they told me that only German-speaking players were allowed to participate
