Resident Evil 4. I could not even get that far in the game without a zombie popping up aand freaking the hell out of me.

O.o Resident Evil 4 doesn't really get scary until you get to the underground portion.

I don't really play scary games.
Bioshock kinda creeped me out but also amazed me, happens to be one of my favorite games ever

When I got to the village I was already creeped out lol.

We don't go to Ravenholm. :(

minecraft. i dont care what game you play, nothing puts more fear into you than that half a second when you hear the creeper hiss from behind you.

Actually I agree. Minecraft is pretty damn scary when you're in a dark cave and hear zombies and don't know where they are... then BAM out of the darkness one jumps.

That's actually a real game? I've heard of it but I didn't think that sick disturbing thing existed.

Deadspace 2 IS pretty freaky when you have a turtle beach surround sound headset, and you are playing in your room where the only given light is the TV screen.

I take back what i said. Eternal Darkness in general was the most scariest game i played.. Because as a child, i was entirely freaked out by the sanity effects

Fear, that's a freaky game!

What makes minecraft's magical horror element tick is that -unlike any other horror game- you have real, relocatable progress to loose. Its not a scripted event. Its actual things you collected and started on your will that are in danger of being destroyed. Theres no way to emulate that in a scripted event, and thats why, even though theres no gore or realism, minecraft can succeed an element of horror like no real horror game, or even movie, can imagine.

Also the fact that the sound code sucks and you can hear any zombie within 100 blocks of you as if it's right next to you, even if it's in in a whole different cave system... that probably helps.

But ya, turning the corner in a dark Minecraft cave and having a zombie or even worse, a silent creeper right in your face gets a good scare out of you most of the time.
