Moving Out Abroad
Some of you might've experience this. But this is my first time, I wonder if I could get some tips on "How to Blend In" with the people. Not like copy and not be different and unique, How to be Friends with them that kind of thing.
I'm moving to America in 2 - 3 years, And I wanna be ready because We might go there earlier than expected, I wonder what is the down and ups of living in America. (Tennessee) There are alot of americans in this forums, So I wanna ask here. How to get out of bullies ?? Please I don't wanna go home schooled. My Mom said "If you got beaten up in school you will be homeschooled." I don't want that to happpeeennn I want friends. |
If you don't want to be beaten up, either stand up for yourself, or just do the right thing, justice. If someone hits you, bullies, etc, its not tolerated. If its not in your school, the school is a scumbag school.
Make yourself relax and go away with the bullies. Go away like 15ft away from them. |

Just try to make friends, stay out of trouble. If bullies try to approach you don't do dumb stuff i.e. cussing them, making fun out of them, etc. It's nothing like all those TV shows about bullies and so on, 'murican schools are normal ones aswell, so are their pupils. |

Also is it easy to get a job once in college ? |
I don't know how it would work in America but when you move over get to know the community and your neighbours and stuff and in school I'm sure people will help you out since it's your first day.
|
Please don't be dumb and assume that doing some type of drug will help you fit in.

You can always try working at your college though, lots of colleges offer jobs for their own students, try that first, I understand what you meant. |
If you don't wanna be picked on, keep to yourself and at least blend in with the crowd to some degree.
|
Your mom probably doesn't realize your chances with getting in to a decent college with homeschooling is at an all time low.
Probably should just work things out with your school if you get bullied. Tennessee is a pretty nice state for what I've heard, your English is also pretty damn good from what I can see. I'm sure you'll be fine, and you'll like it here. |
He's from Philippines. English is like the 1st language in school, mostly
|
He told us several times that English isn't his best language but how story it seems just fine to me.
|
Wow you're moving to where I live thats nice you'll find the folks here are friendly, but their are certain places you will not want to go notably out south. We're one of the nicest states in america and you will make friends here in no time when school starts again. I have a nephew around your age that plays graal and lives here so you can talk to him as well.
|
If you don't want to be bullied; be the bully.
Always did the trick for me. |

I'm not sure if you are good at making small talk, but if you're not then you should practice is. Making small talk is going to be the key for you to making new friends anywhere and everywhere. Here is a good article: http://www.artofmanliness.com/2012/0...ke-small-talk/ Also, joining big churches, because they have small groups where they pretty much encourage people to interact. If you're not into church then there is a website called meetup.com it sounds like a dating website but its not. Its a site thats basically for people to meet up who show the same interests. You can even start your own group if you are interested in something that is not covered on the site. Then people who are interested in that will make contact with you.. Just a few ideas. PS - Don't listen to the advice of being a bully. That's a horrible idea. Be friendly to everyone even if they are mean to you, eventually you will win them over and have even more friends. |

Well that's a relief.
At least I have a valid reason. I pity those out there who get bullied for absolutely no apparent reason. The world is cruel to us all. |
That's worse, Seņor. Being the bully mostly causes you to be judged and expelled. There's a lot of reasons why there are bullies.
Better be not a bully, its never a reason to be a bully because you don't want to get bullied. |
Wait, how old are you? Do people even bully in highschool?
|
I think so. Its caused by immaturity
|
I think it's safe to say, bullying has darasticaly changed over the years.
Physical bullies aren't around nowadays and its on the Internet where you must watch out. Seņor Albonio has made that clear enough. |
I don't know about the south man, they still have segregated proms in a few places, IKR 2015. Here's the keys to surviving the south:
1. google wrangler jeans 2. cowboy hat 3. cowboy boots 4. plain white t-shirt 5. copenhagen <--only people from the south will know what that means 6. most important, start listening to Toby Keith as far as being bullied |

Don't fight in this thread since I'm asking for tips on what to do when I'm in America. Seņor Albonio your not helping that much, So I prefer you to not respond to any of this conversation and stop the shenanigans thats going to probrably occur in the future. |
If you're flying, you need to get over jet lag, or any causes which disrupts your schedule of sleeping and waking up.

7. Belt buckle. The bigger it is the more respect you will get. 8. Make sure you spit. For southern people its like marking your territory. 9. Common Words used in the south: A. Ya'll - Use when talking to more than one person. Example: "Whach ya'll doin" or "I meet ya'll lata" B. Ma'am - Anytime you are speaking to a woman refer to them as ma'am. C. Eeyun - Basically the word in, but they like to emphasize on this word. Example: "Boi get eeyun here!" D. Finna - Fixing to. Example: I'm finna go to da licca stowe. E. Kinfolk - Family. If someone says "You me in kinfolk" it means they consider you a very good friend. Quote:

I'm not hating on my nationality but, sadly it's the truth. Another reason why we're leaving Philippines. |

Honestly, Tennesee isn't even that "south" compared to some other states *cough* Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. *cough*
In a few places, things get pretty crazy when it comes to things like racism but don't worry yourself too much. This isn't the 1960s, things have changed for the better. |

Not saying the whole south is like that just pointing out some places is still big. |

I really don't wanna live in the south anymore, after reading this, But I think I can survive since My skin is a bit brown. (was white, we went to florida as a vacation. didn't use sunscreen blargh.) SARCASM <3 |
From what I've heard from friends, the lighter your skin is the better off you will be. He said he went there with a black friend, and some restaurants they tried to go to they would ask them to leave because his friend was black. I said no way isn't that illegal, but apparently not in the south. I seen on the news they still segregate school dances. In California this is definitely against the law. So I would recommend not tanning or anything before you go.

Don't do drugs, don't smoke, don't drink until you're the legal age, and don't be pressured into doing anything you're uncomfortable with.
Join a sport! Even if you're unsporty/unfit/whatever other excuse you make, it can be one of the best decisions of your life as they can lead to sport scholarships, friends, and a new passion! High school is all about labels, unfortunately, and they're hard to break, so make sure you introduce yourself to be the best person you can be! |
I know a lot of people from Tennessee and they're all really nice! Hopefully you experience the same :) good luck in America!!

Now I'm afraid of racism in america, since it still exists.
|
Yeah it exists, but you won't find it in every state like back in the 1960s.

I've never met a racist black. I met some people that will say blacks are racist for trying to pull the "race card" which means when the blacks say things like, "I wish I had privileges like a white person." Some would say that's a racist statement, but to me that is not racist. Racist is when you display hate for another race of people, wishing you were equal is not racist. The only racist people you have to worry about is the police race, they are trained to not trust anyone, and you better speak English well when they are commanding you to do something, or you could be killed. I saw in news recently a Mexican man was killed in Texas by a chp officer for not getting on the ground when he was told to do so.. Guess what, the guy didn't speak English so how could he understand. So he was just another unarmed man killed by cops. That's the only people you should worry about, and cops come in all colors. |

But that "Mexican or Race" does not bother me since I will look as rich as I can in america, But not to look like I'm in a mafia or any group of negativity, I will wear a Tuxedo from time to time due to My "Tan" skin color not going back to it's previous "White" which I pretty much regret for not wearing Sun Lotion at Florida while swimming on those pretty beaches which has a lot of pretty ladies. Also once I'm in america I will work-out since I have more freetime since It has been decided that I will be going Homeschooled, So that I will look like any pretty much those Rich Douchebags who goes to the beach and do drugs, and I will wear the Starter Pack of "My Dad is a Lawyer You Can't Arrest Me" Kit. |
