WHAT IF THE WORLD WAS ROUND?!
 
Don't call me crazy but what if we actuly didn't live on a flat world but It was round O.o!!!!

So 1 thing I hate about the map is the borders there just like era they have trees surrounding the border in a perfect line now that's ugly and boring....
Isnt Ol' West goal to be original and unique well I guarantee you this will bring us over the top :) . I was thinking that the left and right and top and buttom connect... Because if you go far enough south your north etc.

Consider this please!!!

Graal gmaps(which stitch overworld levels together into one giant level) does not support seamless looping. Can possibly make a hackish way around it but the effect would be broken if other players are around(as you approach the edge of the world where it would loop, players would disappear as they cross the actual line, and vice versa).

That's why it wouldn't be worp it would just you can see the other side and just like adding more map but it loops so you could still see players wouldn't be a problem at all I think.

I think he's saying it's not possible with graal(meaning not a scripter problem, but the engine itself) to make it like you're suggesting. He's saying that if they do it like the 100 hr place in classic it might work(i think thats what he meant).

Well, if the graal engine can't acrually make it round, then have the top/bottom/sides warp you to the opposite edge when you reach the 'void'.

I mean that would be pretty simple, but to make tiles actually appear so it doesn't look like there is an end to the map would be hard, probably impossible. Making it just a warp actually looks pretty nice. I tested it out and I like it.

Technically, Graal is 2D, aside from the shading. This may be applied to Kingdoms I think.

Why don't you just add a ring of levels around the OW that look like the opposite side of the map. Then just warp players to the actual opposite side when they step into them. It's kind of a hackjob and there's probably a better way but it would look better than just warping them.

Because players would approach the end of the world and just disappear, which would be disorienting as you'd see the levels but not the players in them; especially with PKing and such. Also keeping mirrors of the levels would be a pain.

Isn't it as disorienting if they are warping them, though?

Either way, it seems like warping players would just be abuse in pking to dodge projectiles.

A player approaching the end of a level and disappearing is a common occurrence. However, if you replace that black wall with another level, it implies there is more there. You'd see the level the player went in to, but you wouldn't see the player as they'd just "vanish." I'd say that's way more disorienting than a player just touching a wall and disappearing.

Dusty knows what he is talking about here. There are some ways you can fake a round world by moving the other players around clientside for each player, but the effect probably still wouldn't be seamless, and you would have to specially code a lot of things like projectiles to work with it as well. It's not worth the huge amount of effort it would take to implement it on a server that already has years of scripting done on it. It might be cool to put on a playerworld that was scripted from the ground up with a round world in mind.
