LAT admins!
Well!
Like I said in my first thread I have been starting to do levels, or graphics in Classic style. And I had a epic CTF arena to show you; http://i44.tinypic.com/fkqjc1.png But it wasn't really my "style", so I made a village, or a town; http://i42.tinypic.com/2regsxj.png In my own opinnion I like it how it is. But I'm always up for comments, so comment!! (Sorry for the "noob" NPC running on the Cathedral) :P |
Lol eww they need alot of work but keep trying.
|
Wow.
You're Dev for iEra? Then you can gtfo of this thread, and whole Classic section. Im looking for people that can tell me - what's wrong - and how I can get better Even if I want comments, I don't wanna hear a "eew". |

I would suggest that you get a leveling mentor. I would suggest a dude named Terver, he is pretty good.
|
Rule #1: Symmetry is bad in most cases.
Also, don't use that green weedy grass tile. Try the completely green one. |

I'll add some constructive criticism here.
To be blunt, your levels are very basic and bare, and lack detail. They look like you've made them in under 10 minutes, and they suggest you are pretty unfamiliar with the GraalEditor. I suggest you try to get to grips with the editor before posting more pictures of levels on the forums, and look at other levels already on servers to see how they are constructed and how you could better yours using methods present in other levels. The most noticeable feature your levels are missing is the detailing of the grass tiles. Most levels use a patchwork quilt sort of style to detail their grass, which means they just pile on most, if not all, of the grass tiles that are available to them. Also, your levels lack a constrast in colors. They just look green, brown and red. Try adding, again, a variety of tiles in order to make your level look more appealing. I'll give you an example of a level I made a while ago to give you an idea of how grass should look: |
how do i tkae a aplication

It's not really an "epic" level... It's kinda crappy, and no where near big enough to be used as a CTF level.
|
kind of what kavan said minus the over-detailed grass-on-grass style xelt popularized
|
The grass is the main problem, just change that tile to something appealing, add a bit more detail, and make the CTF level bigger and they'd be ok.
|
They need a lot of work. I would suggest getting rid of the ugly grass and just put the normal green grass and add some detail. I also suggest getting creative with tiles and what not. A path would be nice too! :) keep working on it levels take time and patience.:)

But I just feelin' nooby if I ask someone that :\ Quote:

Maybe you should get SoYang off the roof :3
Also for the dark cave tiles, use the dark tiles above it, not the dark tiles inside the cave (look at picture). http://666kb.com/i/bznfnbmfs0hlduirl.jpg |

the level needs some work it looked to plain, you need to add details to the level not just one simple tile.
|
Too plain and not big enough for a CTF map. Try a 5x5 matrix.
We have a new CTF map, just haven't had time to dedicate a NAT to get it running properly to accept the new map. Keep working though. Practice doesn't make perfect, but it sure makes levels look better :). |
Thinking about getting a gold subscription for PC version, make some levels, and send them in for a review.

You can make levels and put them here for review. A lot of developers are here, iClassic and iEra. iZone, iKingdoms, etc. The best thing to do is practice practice practice and have one of these supported servers pick you up, because you'll be given a gold subscription (instead of wasting money on one). On the contrary to popular belief, buying a server is a terrible idea. I can't tell you the last time I saw a successful emergence of a private hosted server move to a classic hosted server via PC. It's sad to see people drop a lot of money into a server, to just give it to someone else to just "screw around". If you want practice, you can request access to the Testbed server to practice scripting and leveling for FREE. If you decide to attempt the "make my own server" route, plan to put aside at least 2 years in development with a rotating crew - don't expect people to stick around, because they generally won't. I find that most private server staff have, on average, staff access to at least two other private servers where they dedicate time and focus to, lessening the content you get for your money pit in lieu of someone elses' money pit. tl;dr: Don't buy gold subscription specifically so you can 'make levels'. |

Really didn't want to make my own thread, but I made this one a couple months ago and...meh, it's not very good, need some tips.

I've never really liked the tiles other people like. Everyone makes buildings with the red carpet and wooden inside with the green / leaf stuff... Like the nexus and rev..
I feel like the tileset is very limiting, especially when it comes to making palaces or dungeons or ruins... |
The person who made this forum -I believe furry said this a while ago- but i highly recommend getting a LAT mentor and memorizing the tileset great way to start off because there is a plain green tile (don't know if someone said there was)
|
lolz his village level really brought back memories for me xD, its like the level i made 2 years ago (i do gfx and add im rly no good at LAT) but keep trying at it mate!
teehee smiley face |
I wanted to be a LAT but no one responded (yet). Here is my level.

Looked good Seeker!
Well, if someone is interested in being my leveling mentor, please send me a PM. |
I can help out. The only thing that's really hard is cliffs, everything else OS a piece of cake!

Just as Seeker said cliffs is the hard stuff (and I really don't find the cliffs they use in the iClassic server on the Graal Editor). I have also got alot of critic that I can't do grass. So that is something I gotta work on. If you would liked to teach me I can say that; I don't own a server, and ain't hired at anyone. |
The reason is because iClassic uses a different tileset. I'll make a short little guide on how to make levels soon :D

I hope you get better.

An observer. We aren't allowed to voice opinions now?
|
when you post stuff up you have to be able to take criticism whether its negative or positive...dont be so hostile towards others.
|
Wellll.. Thats how everyone started right? if he likes levels, he will get far. I see that you like to make levels, and no one will get in your way. keep making levels, and you will once be a good lat :)!.
|
When I first started my favorite thing to make was huge sky scrapers with the default house image.
|
Just keep practicing. If You are having troubles with cliffs there are a few good tutorials on the Graal forums.

Doesn't my first post says I want critic? Only because you read the latest post I did; when I'm asking someone who he is, it doesn't mean I'm angry at him. So next time, don't misunderstand people  *cough* Quote:

*cough* It's ok I have a cold too. *cough*

Isn't it Pimpsy on Facebook that always do these "cough"s? Well, I don't remember who :S
