GST Losers bracket
Everyone hates when you think you have the winning ace team, and you vs a team you know you can beat and lose off the simplest mistake. Then you have to wait another 3 months for the next GST. I was thinking instead of having to lose and wait another 3 months, add a losers bracket. It not only gives teams another chance, but increases competitiveness. It would let teams discuss what they did wrong, and fix it for their next chance in the losers bracket. This idea would make GST more fun and less disappointing for some teams. Please share your thoughts and ideas about this idea!

isn't the GST for winners? having a loosers bracket would give loosers another chance, which they dont deserve. they lost.

GST is 2 hours long. I would rather have 3rd place match for 3rd hat.

I'd support a winners final/losers final split format if it wouldn't take painfully long, but the reality is that it would

I'd like seeing more planned guild spars between guilds for practice, fun, and maybe even bragging rights. Who says that your guild can't compete with other guilds in between official tournaments? Sometimes, that can be even more fun IMO.

Think this is a cool idea, though likely would never happen cause it would be complicated to pull off and would require more competent hosts.

In order to do more than our current GST format (2x 64 team and 32 team tournaments every 3~ months) we would need to get the tournament nearly completely automated.
One thing that could be interesting is if we added a match for third place (which I just noticed people suggested), as of right now the hat that neither team picks have kind of been going to waste. I'll add it to my list of things to do for the next GST. |

More sparring rewards/contests! It's one of the main activities graal has!
Also Xor once told me the reason that GST was changed to once a 3months was because there arn't enough admins who volunteered to help? |
I think this is a great idea.
In response to Ph8: The GST really needs to be automated. Of course, you still need hosts for the "main" winners bracket matches (to monitor fairness and lag etc), but the losers bracket matches wouldnt require a host (because it is less important) and could be fully automated. A few further ideas: -The losers bracket matches would be viewed in a separate viewing room (since fewer people such as guild members/friends would be interested in seeing loser matches) -Participating in loser matches is optional. -Round 1 losers only GS vs other round 1 losers, and will take place during the main round 2. |

Wasn't there a third place in the GST when it first started that would win a hat?

I think a few improvements for next GST would be:
-Android to join iDevice because there isn't a much difference between iPhone/iPod/iPad users and Android users. -During GST week can we get like a small something next go guild names in spar leader-board that shows what GST they are in e.g. iDevice or Android as this would help to know your competition and work out brackets. -Can the formula for how brackets are worked out to be posted because when I ask people I get lots of different answers. -Also I heard GST used to be once every month since GST is the peak of iClassics playercount wouldn't it be better to move it back to once every month I mean people have personal stuff to do during GSTs e.g. work etc. and becuase they cannot log on they have to wait another 3 months. |

I think GST is fine as it is, it's just that 4 GSTs a year are way too few.

I'm indifferent about more GSTs
On one hand, it makes sparring more active The other hand, more frequent GSTs dilute the quality of the experience I think I'd lean towards supporting it because it'd force other guilds to behave like Alumni, where you maintain the same GST roster each tournament, because one month isn't enough time to allow for most guilds to dissolve and then remake - would be a lot of extra work for guild leaders though, but oh well |
Wasn't the GST changed from every month to every season because of how much work it is for the staff?
