Can't play Graal at college.

Ok, so I have 2 hour break between classes at the community college. So I figure why not play Graal. However when I tried I couldn't get on the game. It sat at the initial start-up screen and just sat there, like wtf. Is it a security thing or what?

EDIT: Actually come to think of it I can't play any online games. Darn.

XSTARX 08-25-2014 11:12 PM

That's a bummer.
My Graal Era doesn't even load on my MacBook, the other games(Zone, Classic) do though.

Latte 08-25-2014 11:46 PM

Yikes, that blows. On my college campus, all online games seem to work for me. I play Guild Wars 2 on-campus sometimes because there's a 7 hour gap between my classes, and my internet at home sucks.

But yes, on some campuses, they block certain types of websites. My high school before had a similar system for online games and social media sites.

Fogles 08-25-2014 11:58 PM

You should invest into a VPN. I suggest www.proxy.sh

An alternative could be Hotspot Shield.

K12 covers most schools internet.they block blogs, games, forums, and anything not school related.at my school u can do anything appropriate, if u logged in to view a video thats inappropriate, the system will know.

Have you tried just contacting the network administrator?

The Doctor 08-26-2014 01:33 AM

Seeing as the game makes the connection to the game server, with the start screen displaying, it doesn't seem as if the network is blocking the ports. I don't know what the issue could be, however.

A VPN wont fix issues with the community college network not supporting the needed ports. They don't necessarily target block it, they just don't support it.

Luckily my college enables gaming. I got to play LoL with my friend during my break between classes :D

hosler 08-26-2014 02:37 AM

Tunnel your stuff through a socks proxy running on port 80

Same here, even right now I'm at school but Educational Public Wi-Fi doesn't allow online games.

Myst 08-26-2014 01:24 PM

Lol you nerds playing Graal at school what if someone see's you?!
omg i dare not even imagine..

Hey whats that game your playing?
Oh this? its a mmo called Graal
Graal? wtf kind of **** name is that
Idk man i just play it

XSTARX 08-26-2014 04:16 PM

That's what my friends told me when they saw the screen title.
They still call it Grail...

Emera 08-26-2014 04:28 PM

I've told nobody because I literally can't think of a more socially awkward situation than trying to pronounce Graal. I've never said it out loud.

see they purposely block this kind of stuff off, it's not a glitch, it's like asking for shoes at McDonalds.

hosler 08-28-2014 03:51 PM

But McDonalds requires shirt and shoes.

I'm aware, that doesn't mean asking them will get you no where.

everyone I ever tell about graal are like this
"That is so boring. there are no quests and all you do is kill people or fight big groups of people" *turns around to play call of duty TDM*

It depends on a lot of factors... however a lot of ports are closed by default, and there is little reason to open them all up without being prompted.

And the biggest reason is it's by far the simplest and quickest thing to do before resorting to the more extreme methods to bypass it.

hosler 08-28-2014 07:49 PM

Considering this is a college campus, I doubt the administrator will help you out so you can play graal.

He can't seem to play any online games from his original post, which I imagine would be problematic on a college campus. I'm not saying it's a solution, I'm just saying there's no harm in trying.

I see it now..
student:I need help make it so i can play graal on the internet at college while im bored
administrator:what is that?
Student:a game people don't know about.
administrator:i will accept because a lot of jocks keep throwing eggs at my house to play Call of duty.

iHot 08-31-2014 02:04 AM

Graal isn't even worth playing lol. Think of it as a blessing in disguise and play another game.

Spirit19 08-31-2014 02:10 AM

My friend thinks it could be because the wireless acces for guests is to slow to connect to the servers. Idk, I dont guess it matters lol

I do not dare..play graal at a college..
Its too risky for peoples popularity...it'll...it'll..RUIN OUR LIVES...im not risky enough to get made fun of and just saying the word graal in real life is weird enough..

Spirit19 08-31-2014 02:36 AM

You guys :p

I can't use my phones data cuz it doesn't have data. It's more like an iPod at the moment.

Also, Dont mind playing Graal at college. It's a community college and Im transfering after I get my associates so idc what people think lol

lmao, just talk to the IT department. I too am at a community college taking Comp Engineering. So talking to them about computer tech and getting to know them gave me privileges to bypass our wifi restrictions. But I don't really even care since I just use my Sprint data (doesn't slow down).

That would be smart. Since I am taking Computer programming I might be able to get in on that slice of pie.

Not sure if anybody asked this, but does your college network have a firewall/blocking system? My school does so my iPhone's apps are unable to use internet features.

Yup, far worse than your typical high school's "city authorized" blocking system that was purchased on a cheap low budget by some outside source. Cause now it's computer engineering students that are doing the work, lol so they know the tricks everyone uses to get around blocks.

True, but the Indians and Chinese, Japs...etc are getting to the level where programming is going to be taught in highschool. So if you're going into Programming, just know that you're not going to be making over 50k without putting in work.

Already have a couple of ideas for apps that I know could get some big $$$ (hint hint* Clock into your sh*tty job just by walking into the door with your phone). While I rack up $10k for each store

lol I've been writing down my ideas just in case I forget.

Since when was computer engineering only about making cell phone apps? It's more about embedded design.

PS: Ideas aren't worth anything unless you can do something with them. If you can program the embedded system for the clocking, the proximity detection, and an interface for the user, kudos to you.

Spirit19 09-03-2014 06:17 PM

Since I'm not a "go talk to people about it" person, I'll just bring my PS Vita :D

Also I'm planning to develop or program videogames in the future and probably move to Japan for a job since it's booming over there and I'm tired of good ol 'Merica.

I on the other hand want to head over to Jap and make a game for the Oculous OS. I know the Japs want to make what I know you know I know we know that everyone knows we all want ;)
