Halloween 2014
 
Hello everyone,

In previous Halloweens we have done things like trick or treat, witch hunting, etc. This year, and years to come, we want to do something different that could even be done annually (like Christmas presents, Easter egg hunting, etc). What would you like to see for Halloween that would everyone could enjoy? Give us your ideas!

Like following the ghosts that drop the candy except make candy drop from badies and have it spawn randomly throughout the world. And keep the trading candy for hats to the npcs like last halloween.

I think this Halloween, we should still have trick or treating and hunting ghosts for Candy, just like a traditional Graalloween. Instead of a witch flying around, maybe a headless horseman?

Definitely open Club Crypt and definitely open Onnet like previous years, also, maybe put some costumes in Taylor Richards?

With the Headless Horseman idea, I think it is time for a comeback in randomly spawning NPC's. It could possibly give you riddles to solve or even a quiz? The Headless Horseman could just give you a cool hat, morph or mount if you guess all correctly.

Maybe certain baddies could drop pumpkin tokens, so when Club Cyrpt, or any other shop opens, some items could be bought with gralats and some with the tokens? I also hope the Halloween tile set is here this year!

Just blurting out ideas here, sorry if I confused you all.

First off Graaloween isnt Graaloween without Club Crypt.

As for the main event: I absolutely loved trick-or-treating the past two years. However, now that the playercount is almost constantly above 3000, I feel that the system could be a little less competitive (ie private spawns; similar to loot spawns; only you see a particular spawn).

Or is this system being completely done away with? (I hope not :cri). If the system is going to be completely redone:

Then I'd like to see "traditional" trick-or-treating, where you are receiving the candy (whereas in previous years, NPCs were the trickortreaters and you gave them candy; "reverse" trick-or-treat). The candy can be converted into a random prize (hat item gralats etc). You can even get creative to make it a little more difficult than just walking up to NPCs around the map. Such as, the player must dress up an exact way to receive their candy from that NPC (either dress up exactly as the NPC, or have a "model" image appear. free default heads, bodies, and hats can be used).

Or find another twist to put on trick-or-treating. But I honestly dont see much other than trick-or-treating that can be repeated. A miniquest (such as halloween 2011) is out of question, because no one will want to do it 2 years in a row. The witch hunt (2012 i think) was unique, but again, not repeatable.

Oh yeah! just now remembered this one: The Zombie Apocalypse idea that was thrown around the last few years. I still think thats a really good idea. Zombie baddies infesting the entire map; not even Graal City is safe. Prizes rewarded on a basis of how many you kill, or have drops.

Thanks for starting up this thread, Coco! I like the idea of receiving candy from NPC's, as twilit said in his post. Candy obtained from NPC's can be used to face other NPC's scattered across the map in an RPS event for various goodies.

Always loved the zombie idea. Make the prizes similar to the event when baddies droped event coins just before the holiday shop closed.

Don't trash the old content! Even if it isn't as extensive as you might want the final event to be, it's still something players enjoy, and can be done with low effort every year.

Regarding new stuff... Now that player houses can be opened to the public, it would be cool to see an event which would incorporate trick or treating into player houses. For example, a player could buy a furniture item which would have 10 tricks or treats in it. Upon entering a house, each player could take one trick or treat from the bowl. When the open the prize, the player would be rewarded with either the regular candy prize or a trick, which could cause havoc to other players (think the backwards walking trick that was around last halloween). Basically, this would not only promote player interaction, but also entice people to decorate their houses, which are usually left empty because guild houses are larger, in order to show off to trick or treaters. Events should focus on player to player interaction (like christmas), not player to npc interaction (like St. Patty's Day leprechaun hunt).

I would definitely go with the zombie idea. Except what i think is once you kill a baddie zombie they drop some sort of bones & rotten flesh that you can trade or RPS with NPCs with for hats, morphs, or even a special mount

But I have to say the event back in 2012 I believe the big Maze that had items you had to look for to get hte Skeleton Morph should be added again and the mini quest with the hats you guys did as well in 2012. Was fun.

I think I've got it! This year players can submit hats and they will be sold at Onnet,Club Crpyt,and a house in the little mini town. then have the maze
(a new one) in the deadwood Halloween mini town you suggested with houses for trick or treating NPC'S. The candy will spawn randomly in houses, near an NPC, or secret locations. Only obtained by getting riddles from the news or some square button that shows the list of riddles like the GST belt bubble that shows the list of who vs who. And in the riddle it will give hints to places with houses, NPC areas, secret locations. And this maze is invisible to all players so no cheating, or have the ways different for each player.

It should create a random event (like the runescape ones) where occasionally any player is warped away into an isolated level where they have to do some Halloween oriented quest to exit. Sure, they can always say unstuck me and leave, but if they finish the quest they receive some awesome Halloween prize. A prize I have always wanted to see if a morph that turns you very transparent like a ghost.

Private spawns would be awesome I don't see myself willing to be up late at night hunting when there's less players. Also the idea of traditional trick-o-treating as michael explained would be exciting.

Something involving the house where you'd turn in the matches would be pretty cool.
But overall, I would LOVE to see guild bosses implemented. (I had a whole bunch of ideas as to what this might be like on a different thread involving the giant blob). The boss could drop 1-5 peices of candy every time, along with a different prize if you're lucky enough. Or maybe there could be a dungeon involving certain amounts of baddy waves.(Still the whole guild dungeon idea.)

As for private spawning, I would like to see THI happen only if it were to have 2-5 ghosts on map for you at all times. and the price for trick or treating goes down to 1 candy per prize.

Candy quality is something I'd love to see. (Small size, Medium, and King.) The kinds of candy would depend on the quality, quantity, and chance of getting something. This is the scale of how I'd like to see things work:

Small - 25% chance of getting an item. Includes smaller hats (Accesory-type hats, no gifs) and things like Chairs, Rugs, & Gralats.

Medium - 50% chance of getting an item. Includes Medium sized/valued hats. (Hats such as headphones, snap backs, Player made Halloween hats.) and things like Beds, Shelves, more types of furniture, pets, effects (transparent/negative/walk on water/etc.), and more gralats.

King - 75% chance of getting an item. Bigger hats (Helmets, crowns, masks, gif hats, player made hats, etc.) You would be able to find interactive furniture (Like the guillotine), effects, morphs, and Interactive items such as Jump ropes, juggle, pogos, etc.

If you don't receive the gift, then you were tricked and there is a 5-10 minute cool down for turning in candy. There would be a Candy exchange station.

Exchange 5 smalls for a king, 3 smalls for a medium.

Exchange 2 (or 3 medium for a king, 1 medium for 2 smalls.

Exchange 1 king for 4 smalls or 1 king for 2 mediums.

This way players can downgrade (or upgrade) and they'd have to do it wisely because either way they're losing loot chances.

How about something of a scavenger hunt..?
I agree with what santa claus said near the beginning (lag on servers due to player count + ghosts = a lot of crying over lack of candies), and think that something a little less competitive might be good.
Potentially something akin to the 'scarf' quest, where random npcs give you items that are traded to unlock a secret store...?

Something I found to be an issue last year (and may have griped about) was that there was only a short time to cash in your candies. Personally, I had about 1.5 hours of time available to try and cash in as many as I could, and I felt like if I had done a bit more research with the other players I may have gotten some better stuff and/or not been tricked as much... I know that's part of the "Fun" but the cooldown on the tricks were painful because I only had so long to cash in my candies.

Hence, I suggest a common base of prizes, in a store-type location, with a medium-difficult chain of trade quests to unlock different rooms and/or prizes.

OH, and a pumpkin pet. And a use for the pumpkin lantern? If that's too much to ask?

Exchange 1 king for 4 smalls or 1 king for 2 mediums.

This way players can downgrade (or upgrade) and they'd have to do it wisely because either way they're losing loot chances.

i would trade in all my smalls for kings and my mediums for kings.kings.

Candy quality is something I'd love to see. (Small size, Medium, and King.) The kinds of candy would depend on the quality, quantity, and chance of getting something. This is the scale of how I'd like to see things work:

Small - 25% chance of getting an item. Includes smaller hats (Accesory-type hats, no gifs) and things like Chairs, Rugs, & Gralats.

Medium - 50% chance of getting an item. Includes Medium sized/valued hats. (Hats such as headphones, snap backs, Player made Halloween hats.) and things like Beds, Shelves, more types of furniture, pets, effects (transparent/negative/walk on water/etc.), and more gralats.

King - 75% chance of getting an item. Bigger hats (Helmets, crowns, masks, gif hats, player made hats, etc.) You would be able to find interactive furniture (Like the guillotine), effects, morphs, and Interactive items such as Jump ropes, juggle, pogos, etc.

If you don't receive the gift, then you were tricked and there is a 5-10 minute cool down for turning in candy. There would be a Candy exchange station.

Comes with a few problems. Those code shop paths could be re-purposed to force people to farm bushes in order to get snacks. Houses would have to be force kept open as long as the candy bowl is placed to prevent people from just trading candy in private houses. I still think it would be cool though and it would promote people decorating their house if festive furniture is released alongside it.

Entering the haunted house looking for some kid or something that's important to a man. You go in and blah blah blah. I can't come up with the rest, plus, what else is new in classic it's been 3 months since I ever went to Classic.
