Halo 2 - when I was 6 I played the campaign so many times omg

GTA SA - never actually completed this game but all I did was kill people and explored lmao

Sonic Heroes - just a great game but buggy

Kung Fu Chaos - played the crap out of this http://youtu.be/DRNhU6-JHR0

Halo CE - played this like crazy until I found out Halo 2 was already out

A Pokemon game - quite a few games I loved probably emrald or Firered/leafgreen on GBA

Now these are the tricky ones ----V took me some thinking

Halo 3 - because Halo, my child hood

GTA 5 - just fun to mess about with friends

Halo Reach - again because halo

CoD 4 - When the game was actually fresh and new, didn't have these quick scope no scope fags

Me personally I still can't think what my top 10 games are, some games were made great imo because of the people you play with.

MattKan 08-15-2014 11:18 PM

This was a hard list to make
  1. Banjo Kazooie - Best platformer I've ever played. Fantastic graphics, levels, characters, music, sounds, charm, and even the limited story that makes its way into the game.
  2. Civilization IV - Best strategy game I've ever played (perhaps closely falled by Europa Universalis IV). Loved the mods in this as well as the civs and expansions. Lots better than Civ 5 in terms of everything but graphics.
  3. Zelda: LTTP - Best adventure / exploration game I've ever played. Best graphics for any game on the SNES. Lots of stuff to find and pretty good amount of freedom in terms of where to go next. Also a relatively short game, so it's fun to play now and then.
  4. Banjo Tooie - Best sequel I've ever played to a game. Unlike the Zelda, Paper Mario, all other games that don't necessarily flow together, this game flows perfectly with Banjo Kazooie and expands on pretty much every feature from the original game. Arguably the better game, but I listed BK first because of the fact that it started everything and its replay value.
  5. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door - Best story I've ever seen in a game. And the game wasn't that bad to top it off.
  6. Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town - I love Harvest Moon and have played the majority of them. This one was my favorite.
  7. Animal Crossing - Very fun game. Not really sure how to explain it though . . . guess I just liked the customization and collecting that was available. And I thought it was pretty cool that the game changed in "real time".
  8. Super Mario All Stars - Collection of pretty much the best 2D Mario games in existence, including Super Mario World (which would have warranted its own place on this list had it not been included in this game).
  9. Zelda: Wind Waker - Best 3D Zelda I've played (that deserves a reward unto itself, right?).
  10. Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga - Fun RPG styled battle-tactics. I also really liked the different characters and the large amount of exploration in this game.

Honorable Mentions: Harvest Moon 64, The Sims 3, Zelda: Minish Cap, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts JK that was the biggest disappointment of my life

  1. Final Fantasy VII - Plainly the best RPG of all-time when you compare it to the quality of games in the same year that it was released (1997)
  2. River City Ransom - Best beat-'em-up of all-time
  3. Banjo-Kazooie - Best platformer of all-time
  4. Chrono Trigger Second to FF7 in RPGs

  6. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Best Zelda title
  7. Final Fantasy VI - Awesome story, amazing RPG
  8. Bastion - The only single-player PC game that I've played in the last few years that impressed me
  9. Diablo II - Hasn't aged well, but it was so good
  10. Final Fantasy IX - Another great game in the series

limbo a video game for the xbox360, basically its about a kid stuck in a nightmare trying to find his little sister.

Pokemon Stadium old but golden, this is one of the Pokemon games for the N64, played it from when I was 9 years old until now.

Golden Eye Yet another N64 game this one is a first person shooter, your main character is Agent '007' and your main goal is to get through the game.

Minecraft Yes, yes I know, laugh all you want but it's still a great game.

Mario Kart Last N64 game I promise, but anyways... This one is my favorite Mario Kart game, no idea why though.

Graal No idea why this is on the list, this game is the worst game out there jkjk

Legends of Zelda: Majoras Mask Okay I lied, also on the N64, but still a really great game.

Halo 3Yes I know it's halo, but still love it.

Meow Meow Kitty Star Acres F you MrSimons.

Kardashian I ran out of ideas okay xd

Chrono cross a FANTASTIC game. Just look at the reviews it got. It is a great game, it just doesn't pull its weight as a full "sequel". You have to look at it like a completely different story in the same universe. Chrono cross had excellent music, but the combat is pretty unique and fun especially for its time, and the story has many different paths offering great replay-ability and so many things to discover. The only issue I truly agree on with critics is the fact that too many playable characters without any real story exist.

It wasn't quite the "Chrono Trigger" sequel most people expected, but it's a magnificent game by its own right.

Random fights = inferior to an SNES game, I expected more from PSX. The combat was dumbed down from CT (where were all the techs, a staple of CT???), the characters were all shallow and far too many, and the story was uninteresting to me.

Techs? Chrono cross had an insane amount of techs.... All characters had 3 unique techs, not the mention the dozens of element techs you could assign them after finding or purchasing them. There were also dual techs and I believe there was 2 triple techs.

There was an abundance of equipment and weapons you could assign, to the point where you simply could not grab it all on your first play-through.

Not all of the characters were shallow. MOST of the characters were not very developed and inserted just to add on to side quests, customizability, and the "gotta catch em all" attitude for hardcore gamers.

Glenn, Serge, Kid, Lynx, Harle, Karsh, Radius, and a few other characters actually had amazing backstories and they unfolded during the course of the story- (if you kept them in your party, you would actually initiate many hidden conversations and mini-battles that otherwise you would had just skipped).

Spoiler
The story was a wild ride, and while chrono trigger beats it by a little bit, chrono cross shows a new angle of the time compromise situation. But instead of time traveling, it is dual universes. Many of the parts of the story tie into Chrono triggers story. Example? Chronopolis was the futuristic time city that was shot back way back in time into an area where time doesn't exist. Chrono and the others of his team reside as ghosts here- stuck in the giant hole in the universes timescale.

Same goes with the ending, where you must save Schala (or destroy her) from lavos which was reborn due to a slight malfunction of Chrono Triggers original mission.

Such a complicated story but such a beautiful output. The art and music was superb and the crazy story made it really feel like an intense adventure the entire time. It really engulfed me and my sister to where it felt like a really serious story and it could evoke actual emotions in us still to this day due to immense nostalgia.

And what do you mean about "random fights" the fights in Chrono Cross were almost entirely optional, besides boss fights.

Manxjojo 08-25-2014 12:05 AM

ah yeah because I put : before the name. Supposed to be Doom and Dishonored.

Weren't fights random, like in FF where you walk around and randomly face off against an enemy after taking a few steps? Can't remember, deleted CC after a couple of hours.

After a few hours? The game takes off really slowly, there is nothing really to love about the first few hours, it has a slow start.

And no, the normal enemies walk around on screen, so an experienced player can move around them and avoid them with ease. Some of them will give chase or will be blocking a path though- so there is that.

I loved Cross and I loved Trigger. If you quit after only a couple of hours, I highly recommend you try again. It is a great game and the hidden ties and sidestories you can find that tie up lose ends with Chrono Trigger are very sentimental. There is an orphanage scene that deals with lucca and it is just the saddest thing in the world

PlutonianLigon 08-25-2014 10:01 AM

Personally I don't really have a top ten. Instead I'll just list a game or series for 10 individual genres that I enjoyed more than most others that I can remember.

Beat 'em up - Super Battletoads (Arcade)

Fighting - Killer Instinct (SNES/Arcade/GB/Xbone) Note: Included with Killer Instinct 2013 Ultra Edition on Xbone.

Platformer - Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64)

ARPG - System Shock series (DOS/PC/OSX/Linux)

First-person shooter - Doom II (DOS & many others)

Graphic adventure - Grim Fandango (PC)

Turn-based Strategy - Civilization II (Mac/PS1/PC)

Racing - F-Zero X (N64)

Shoot 'em up - Contra III: The Alien Wars (SNES/GBC/GBA)

City-building - Simcity 3000 (Mac/iOS/PC/Linix/Mobile)

I was thinking about including honorable mentions but the list I had in mind felt a bit expansive for a forum post so I decided against it.

It makes complete sense that it is in the same universe, it just comes gradually.

Instead of hopping around time, you are in one similar place in time, hopping between a real dimension in where serge died 10 years ago and one in which nothing at all has happened. It causes major rifts and you manage to recruit people from both dimensions, it is really cool how it plays out and how different things play out just because in one dimension the protagonist is believed to be dead.

It isn't supposed to play just like chrono trigger, in gameplay or story, but it does envelope itself in the same overall universe quite well. Damn I love both of these games so much.

I'm glad you said you'll give it a chance :D the pacing really gets awesome once your party starts going after lynx.

Space Invaders - My high score is 998,000 on an arcade machine on the 3 hour fairy in Nova Scotia, it pained me and a lot of other passengers that I was 2,000 short of a million.

Loz:LTTP - Pretty self explanatory to a lot of people in this community.

Graal - Ever since 2011 this has been a nice pass of time.

Wow/Runescape - Both fall under the same categories (MMORPGs) really no lifed both a lot.

Final Fantasy Series- Love them all equally.

Donkey Kong - My favorite game to play when I am looking for a challenge.

Pac-Man - One of the best arcade games of all time and it's fun trying to set a high score.
