Option to Remove Friends Bar -FB-

Is there not an option for this yet? Been awhile since I played FB Classic, and I still can't believe there's not an option to get rid of that annoying bar at the bottom of the screen.

Any reason this option hasn't been added yet?

Rufus 07-02-2014 02:38 PM

Because it's something that Stefan thinks looks nice.

Why not allow an option then to disable it? Simple as that. The players should choose if they want the 'nice' looking extension or not, considering it blocks a bit of the viewable screen.

The UI of FB Graal is keeping us from migrating, because of how... unsightly it is. I love the concept of a friend bar and one that integrates into FB, as well, but it takes up so much room! I'd love to see it minimize or otherwise be hidden.

Aaron 07-03-2014 02:17 AM

Sorry, but Stefan has bad tastes :/

It's about what Stefan wants, not what the players want.

Too bad the players are so addicted to Graal that they cannot quit, otherwise it would be vice versa :P.

Agreed, if we had some self control...

I've been playing this game since the 90s, please help!! :)

Blueh 07-04-2014 03:22 AM

We need a Graal rehab lol...

On topic: Darn, that's a shame FB users. It's kinda creepy how fast FB users can message you when you log on.

Kendama 07-04-2014 03:27 AM

I actually tried going to Graal Rehab one time. I met up with these two fellows who said they were going to help cure me, I went into their offices at some weird warehouse in the middle of nowhere. I don't really remember what happened after that. It's weird too, because the same exact day my wallet went missing and someone stole my motorcycle :/

I actually had a person message me right away saying "Welcome back" every time I logged on. It got really creepy and annoying.

Phantos 07-07-2014 11:53 PM

Sounds friendly, to me. You should express your discomfort with them, they probably have no idea.

The 90s were OK but I want to see what the future brings! Like removing this bar on FB :)

Wolfie 07-08-2014 08:42 AM

I'm dead.

Thallen 07-09-2014 03:25 AM

yes, it's actually very easy to remove by blocking the Flash object using something like AdBlock or even your HOSTS file, but I'm not going to write a detailed post explaining how to do it because someone in this forum community would read too deeply into my post and somewhere between the lines someone would manage to find something where I claim to be better than someone at this game

GOOD LUCK

Phantos 07-09-2014 03:34 AM

I don't know, Thallen, the chat bar seems to be built into the flash client itself. If it were another bar below the client, I'd understand the possibility of blocking it, but I don't think it is possible for the end user to do this.

Thallen 07-09-2014 03:38 AM

It's a part of qplay.swf and loads within the client, I just said that to hopefully inspire rage within someone

Aaron 07-09-2014 06:34 AM

eh adblock

Or you could just make a slight edit to the CSS to get a nice result like this ;)

Phantos 07-11-2014 03:17 AM

Wow, that's beautiful! I would love it if the web client looked this simple and clean!

The Doctor 07-11-2014 07:59 PM

Okay, since I really really hate the friends bar as much as you guys do, I've made my own website that simply embeds the flash player, but cuts off the friends bar. It also makes the flash player the same size as the window, so that you can have an even better playing experience.

GraalOnline Classic
GraalOnline Era
GraalOnline Zone

There is even a 'Try Full Screen' button for those who want to have a full screen gaming experience. It allows much more content to be displayed :). It does not work on Internet Explorer, sadly.

I've made a thread: http://www.graalians.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25175

Wish granted, the 'disable friendsbar updates' option has been re-purposed.

great work
now just whip together a standalone application that does nothing more than grab your Flash cookie and embed the Flash app in its own dynamically-resizable window outside of the default browser and you've managed to convince 99% of PC players that they're back on PC Graal (pretty sure that relies on IE though, which sucks)
