How do you sleep?
I've been having hard time sleeping. -.-
|
Sleep is for the weak.

Usually around 4-6 hours. I like being awake, sleep is just to recharge the batteries.

Honestly good sleep is earned, it is not just received.
Eating healthy (aka big breakfast with fruit, protein, fiber, and carbs. medium lunch- fruit and protein. small dinner- mostly protein. with snacks in between these periods will keep your energy levels optimal). With good energy levels, you need to burn a significant amount of calories. When calories are burned at a good healthy athletic rate, your body will go from high intensity energy output to conservative mode. I recommend AT LEAST an hour and thirty minutes of exercise a day. When you exercise, always try to keep advancing in strength. Don't be someone who gets stuck at a plateau and cannot break it. In conservative mode, your body will be much more relaxed and be in a very likely good and social mood. An hour from this should result in some fatigue as long as you don't consume large amounts of sugar. This means no fruit either! Save that for BEFORE you burn energy not when you want to sleep. Also consume no stimulants, caffeine, or other energy inducing consumables. If you have pushed yourself and your body has used a lot of energy it will naturally (by instinct and recovery) NEED rest. You won't HAVE to sleep, you will WANT to sleep. It might even happen earlier than planned. If you aren't feeling tired you might not be exerting yourself as much. Essentially, being healthy in what you eat and how you exercise will contribute to great sleep as well as being unhealthy will contribute to insomnia. If you come back saying exercising didn't work- poke yourself where you have been exercising. Is it sore? Other strategies could include dissociative properties. Many people who have medical conditions (or some who use illegally) like to relax and fall asleep on prescription drugs like Xanax. If I did not have a very athletic day (rare) I like to smoke heavy indica strain marijuana. I like it when its purple, that will put you to sleep fast as hell if you let it. I have never used this method specifically for the reason of insomnia, but 1 beer always tends to make me sleepy. Should be able to avoid using any substances as long as you exercise right and eat right. now heres a fun fact: The healthy amount of sleep every night for teens is 8.5 - 10 hrs. One study has showed that only 15% of teens achieve this during the school year. Be good to yourself |

I don't think I'd ever sleep if I didn't enjoy dreaming.

Nice thread title.
If household remedies don't work call a doctor. |

-Put a lot of thought into your meals and a lot of effort into exercising to get sleep. OR -Do nothing and sleep. Hmm.... I wonder which one I would rather choose. |
im disappointed, I was expecting at least one "with my eyes closed" response

Two kinds of people:
"Sleep is for the weak." "Sleep for a week." |

Love you sister. |
I have paranoia during night time which means I can never fall asleep instead I have to stay up until I pass out, usually meaning one or two hours of sleep per school day, still manage to get good grades though which is good I guess.

Go ahead be lazy, you won't get laid and you will die early. |
Jerking off seems to help a lot of people fall asleep.

-Don't drink/eat anything with caffeine shortly before you intend to sleep(soda, coffee, chocolate, etc)
-Exposure to the light used in displays actually tricks your body into thinking its day. Try other activities that don't use a screen before you go to sleep. -Try to empty your mind |
oh, i interpreted the title as "what are your sleeping preferences" not literally "how" lol. But in that case: i always start lying down on my left side; when that side gets tired, i turn over to my right side to fall asleep; if i wake up in the middle of the night, i turn back to my left side (mainly to look at clock).
When sleeping on my left side: bottom (left) hand goes between my mid-thighs; top (right) hand goes around my Sqüsh beanie pillow When sleeping on my right side: bottom (right) hand reaches under the pillow searchin for dat cool spot; top (left) hand goes around beanie pillow Even further off topic: last year i had an insomniac roommate who slept more than i did... He has beyond severe DSPD (a type of melatonin deficiency) and didnt have medicine for it... His average bedtime was 5am (2am on a good night, 6:30am on the worst night), and woke up anywhere between 2-7pm... and on weekends he could sleep 16-20 hours/day. So the light in our room was only on a few hours a day for our rare intersecting awake hours. |
Wow, right after I answer this thread, I end up having trouble sleeping due to mild nausea. This has been happening to me for like 2-3 months -_-
|
I turn from side to side for about 2 hours until I fall asleep

I like to sleep with my teddy bears because my teddy bears will protect me from the bad guys!
The bad guys are: Mama June Fresh prince Bill nye Yellow bird from Sesame Street Those hating ppl who make multiple pk guilds because the guild they were in didn't give them a hat or they didn't get accepted to alumni. Barney Courage the cowardly dogs enemies. Every episode in the show goosebumps Spoderman Betmun Captain crunch Princess becca and ash ketchup That dog from the commercial cookie crisp And finally jennamarbles |
I cuddle with the blanket, put some type of cushion between the legs for comfort. I also sleep with a box fan because I find the noise and slight breeze coming at me super comforting and frees my mind of the eerie silent "eeeeee" sound you hear when there's no sound going on.

Somewhat on topic, but I just read that if you sleep or nap with someone in a close proximity or in each others arms it releases trust chemicals in your brain and when you wake up it's like you've known the person for years. Scientific sleepovers man.

Melatonin tho, knocks you out pretty quick. |
You can always chloroform yourself.
Just remember to have somebody take the cloth off your face. |
Just think of slender man
|
Another suggestion, get your mother/father to knock your lights out.

I love it. |
I've got no problems sleeping when i take my Melatonine pills. The reason i use them is because my ADHD prevents me from getting tired/falling asleep.
|
I usually pop caffeine pills around 1 PM which keep me up all night, maybe until morning if I abuse tea and coffee, as well.
Melatonin works really well if you take it regularly every night, around the time you want to go to sleep, it gets your Circadian rhythm changed up after a week or so. |
Hehe you know what would be a better thread title for this, "What do you dream about when you sleep"? Just curious, i have had some weird dreams where I would just see some old hag rocking back and forth on a rocking chair sowing a sweater lmao.
