Hi, this thread is for people discussing there WPM speed. I got 63 wpm on my ipad 2, typing with two thumbs. Take a typing test here:

First test I did went horribly wrong, for some reason half way through it counted all the words I typed as wrong.

It's not the most natural WPM test I've taken. Usually the better ones will have excerpts from books, so typing feels more natural than just typing out random jumbles of words that don't flow or make sense.

I got 45... lol I hate typing.

There is something profound in how random the words are, I find myself tripping over the "what" "where" "wizard" chains where the words are similar and my eyes dance from one to the next.

That anyone can do this on an tablet device is quite impressive, it's definitely not my generation!

^You just put that into your browser console then press any key (spacebar works best) and it automatically inputs the word @Colin lol.

It's a really awkward WPM test though. Think everyone would have done better if it had passages to type with varying lengths of words instead of a random assortment of words.

Did any of you guys take a keyboarding class or something like it, or did you teach yourself over time?

Took mine back in like... 7th grade lmao. But overtime I got quicker at typing.

This is just a normal day's use at a computer. But if you want a challenge, I'll do it again.

Took typing class in grade 9/10 Business but most of my typing is from programming and keyboard memorization.

I use to be able to text people while keeping my phone in my pocket because I can remember where every key is after using a device for a while.

Do it every day and you'll get really fast, I've been typing (sans home-row) for like 20 years now! Typing classes definitely help, especially in the "don't look at your keyboard" area of knowledge which developed my typing by quite a bit. Your fingers develop muscle memory, no matter where you rest them on the keyboard.

I can get more, I'll update I just woke up.

Not a very good words per minute program. It kept glitching up and making me get like 10 words in a row wrong lol. Also the randomness of the words kept confusing me and making me accidentally type similar words that made more sense, like "It would" instead of "It world". This was at least my 10th try, I messed up at the end and stopped typing because I thought it was over but there was still 5 seconds left. I bet if I kept trying I could get over 95, but I'm way too tired of this now :P

His was a joke but 33 isn't so bad! It took me so many years to get good at typing... but we all spend hours every day typing so at least the practice is done!
