Hello everyone! I was on era today and um well I went into Astros for the first time in ages and I saw some disturbing things. First I saw people pretending to smoke and others were begging for the code like it was cool. Then when I told them that smoking wasn't cool at all and how it negatively effects people they decided to try to fight me. They literally call themselves going off and the nerve for them to call me a "kid" when they are probably much younger than me honestly pissed me off, that is not the point though. I think we should have a campaign to teach these impressionable young children that it is not good to smoke or bully. I know era can't change the world but we can change the young minds who play our game. I feel like if we had events and items dedicated to not smoking and non-violence we might be able to save a few lives from the pressure of "looking cool." I'm a Senior SWAT (students working against tobacco) member at my school (or I was... today was the last day for seniors) I am very serious, so don't shoot me down tell me what you think we can do. Every little thing can change the world.

I don't mean to shoot you down or anything but if you ask me this won't have a very large effect.

At first I kinda thought you sounded pretty ridiculous but now I understand you mean well and here's my opinion.

Really, you shouldn't even bother, half the people who play iEra are foolish and immature and probably haven't been educated enough to understand substance abuse and stuff.

Others pretend to do this just for pure attention.

If you see something that offends you then just report the person.

Otherwise, just disregard them altogether.

Just know that there are many rude players out there and an MMORPG probably isn't the best place for them to learn some manners.

People in a game can be jerks and all but that doesn't stop the game from running.
It's a shield code, others are deem like to use it as their own choice. Nobody can neglect at them since it's their own risk. If others who has seen this 'effect whatsoever' then their bound to get a bad life. Why would you smoke? Why would you party all night long with beer? My life stinks, what about yours? All the questions passing through, imbeciles.

I know what you mean. But this is Era. If these "kids" parents let them play Era, seeing them doing "pixel-drugs", then so be it. Plus, "looking cool" is part of Era's theme, so they would curse you out, saying bad words, and as you stated, begging for a cigarette code just for people to believe that they're "cool" on an online game.

You cant stop this, this is like fighting a war on immigrants. Do all you want to prevent it, but people will do whatever it takes to get in, we learned this after the US banned immigration from certain places that people were heavily immgrating from. But in my opinion: I really don't think that kids are going to become addicted to stoges because of iEra. They aren't going to go and be like "Wow, a game has this so it must be cool, right?!" I mean, yeah, stoges do come off as being the "cool" thing. However, just because their pixelated character is doing it, i doubt they'll do it.

For starters, it's actually kind of hard to get your hands on cigs. You have to know someone who is 19 to buy them for you. And I doubt that a 19 year old is going to buy a 10 year old cigs, but that's just me. Plus, the first cig that someone has often turns them off from it. It did for me. I became really sick and light headed, a "smoker's high" you can say.

People are more likely to start smoking because they see their friends doing it than they are in a game. If a bunch of your friends are doing it, then you might fall into it. Peer pressure in a way. At least that's how I got started in doing things like this: my friends. Not from graal. If anything, we should be protecting kids from smoking in real life than in a game.

All in all: I really really doubt era is going to influence smoking.

Anti-drug, yeah sure. Although things like this are definitely NOT Graal related so it's possible that Stefan wouldn't approve of it. Anti-bullying on the other hand? If it's electronic and not in person, then just block the damn person and you've solved your problem. Physical bullying on the otherhand is something that's actually a cause for concern.

People PK a lot in game, but I doubt the number of serial killers on the globe will rise from it.

You obviously mean well, but you can't tell others what to do on this game, you're much better off ignoring them. If anything, you'd rather they smoke in game then real life. :p

This is true but maybe not for everyone. We have to take all variables into consideration... there are some people who are more easily influenced than others. What you said here can be applied to movies too. In the 50s almost all movies had people smoking in them. The result was a nation wide mindset that smoking was cool, safe, and normal. iEra has players younger than 8 years old and since the staff are so worried about them picking up 'bad words' from other players (swear filter), it doesnt really make sense to promote drugs and viollence at the same time. Also the difficulty of getting a smoke, whether its tobacco or weed, depends on where you live and who you live with/hang around. For me I can easily get a hold of any drug because I live in Los Angeles and I know who and where to go to.

No but if youre an 8 year old kid and you spend a 1/4 of your time playing graal, its possible that you will get the idea that smoking isnt bad.

Aside from the lag caused by the large amount of players onscreen, this is why I avoid astros as much as possible.

Im pretty sure most people using the shield are just trying to look the part in the game since that's era's theme.

How cyber bullying was done in my days in Era- noobs taking pic of profiles and then editing and post on their gang logo.
