First Reactions

With the new batch of anime coming out, I would like to see your guy's initial reactions to the first one to three episodes of different series to get your guy's opinions on them. You can talk about what you enjoy so far and what are you looking forward to in the upcoming episodes. Normally this would be for ongoing series, but you can also talk about completed series you started.

With the new series, the first one I started is Selector Infected WIXOSS. It's an anime about are card game that grants you wishes if you win multiple games. Now this sounds childish at first, kinda like Yugioh, but a leading genre is psychological. The series is rated R- for it being violent. The first episode is not that bad, it introduces the whole card games and our main characters. I'm ready for more darkness and grimness from the upcoming episodes.

Can't wait to watch the two new animes tomorrow.

Mejico Josh 04-04-2014 03:51 PM

Going to be watching some in bulk with a friend over the weekend

GlazeyB 04-04-2014 04:18 PM

Waiting for more of my bulk to be released and where.

So far, Crunchyroll only picked up two of the series I wanted to watch.

Mushishi got a new episode.

Thought it was alright.

One Week Friends

I'm worried about the budget they were given. There's almost no backgrounds (just a big white blur). I feel like the story isn't going to be that great either, character designs seem to be lacking as well.

But as far as first impressions go, it has potential. Hopefully after a few episodes, it'll get rolling.

Brynhildr In The Darkness

If this doesn't turn into Harem In The Darkness, I feel like it has the possibility of being one of the stand out animes of this season. Character designs are good. Story is interesting.

Captain Earth
The **** is going on. If someone starts throwing galaxies, I'm done. I liked it though, but I'm not going to expect much from this series. Kid can poop out rainbows if he wants though.

Blade and Soul
It was okay, the start was a little slow and combat was short. Like Captain Earth, not expecting much. Characters seem bland.

Irregular At Magic High School

This one wasn't on my lists, but I'm glad I added it. The fights scenes are really well done and the use of magic is different from the usual term magic. Characters seem interesting, love the bro-con little sister.

There's still more coming out next week that I wanna watch, Black Bullet being the one I'm most interested in. (That small part of Yandere in Ayase is what makes me like her, she would of been my pick if Kirino wasn't infinity times better.)

Now your avatar shows my favorite characters evil side, your very cruel to me.

Anime I saw from Friday through Sunday:

Akuma no Riddle (Riddle Story of Devil)
12 fully trained girls targeting one girl? Let's see how this will work out.
Wait is this girl gaining affection for the target? Guess she will be the body guard protecting her.

Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou (The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior)
This series is okay for the first episode. Guy moves to new building and has a weirdo roommate, but the girl he admires also lives in the building. Seems like it'll follow a cliche romantic comedy route, but I'll keep an eye on this to see if it makes a bigger impression later on

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (The Irregular at Magic High School)
I like how this series is going out for the first episode, shows some good fight scenes, gets a good focus on the two main characters, that bro-con. I can see why this was voted most anticipated series for this spring.

Seikoku no Dragonar (Dragon Academy)
This series gives a lot of Dragon Crisis feel to it. How the main character hatches a dragon human type thing. The problem with Dragon crisis is that it felt quite rushed, so I hope it won't be the same for this series.

Gokukoku no Brynhildr (Brynhildr in the Darkness)
This series really caught my attention, probably my favorite first episode out of the series I've seen so far. Right away grabs you with a tragic back story that grips your attention and really keeps a hold of your attention right up to the end, making it so you HAVE to watch the next episode.

Love Live! School Idol Project 2nd Season
First Episode wasn't attention grabbing, just explaining a new Love Live contest is starting. I will be watching that as my replacement Idols anime after Wake Up, Girls! ended.

Isshuukan Friends. (One Week Friends)
I really like these types of anime. Memory loss is something that really grabs my attention (Which is why I love series like Golden Time and Ef- Tales of Memories). I feel as though having a loss in memory brings despair to many people, and seeing them trying to cope with trying to get the memories back is intriguing.

That is what will happen, due to their incredible popularity, but you never know, the director has NEVER done a two season anime.

If this were the case, the ending to it would of been extremely different. He's planning on making this his first series to do a S(X) or he might even be attached. Not to mention the extreme popularity of the series, it would be extremely stupid not to.

Blah64 04-08-2014 02:33 AM

Dragonar Academy - Seems like a reverse role 'Familiar of Zero' to me. The main character is just waaaay too nice.

Kamigami no Asobi - Reverse Harem! I actually might watch this for a bit... I hope the different culture gods fight eachother.

The World is Still Beautiful - I was surprised how much I actually enjoyed this first episode. Dunno what I liked about it, it was just an enjoyable watch.

Daimidaler: Prince vs Penguin Empire
- The name is fun, but the concept is just over used and boring to me. However, I did like the baddies' 'reverse tails'.

Majin Bone- Saw it on Crunchyroll and had nothing else to do, so I watched it... Huge waste of my time... Bored outta my mind.

The Kawai Complex - Seems like a pretty generic Rom Com. I might watch it eventually when I have finished other, already established Rom Coms.

The Irregular at Magic High School- This one has me all giddy, as a big fan of the light novels. Unfortunately, I'm way too giddy to actually watch it. Once I actually watch it, then I can no longer be excited about looking forward to it.

Livid 04-08-2014 04:34 AM

Man none of those I've even tried to watch, I have an anime to watch with 3 seasons x_x

Blah64 04-09-2014 04:28 AM

Brynhildr in the Darkness - First Episode really caught my interest. The opening sequence with the dead/living girls hints at some strange happenings in the future. I am curious as to what all is goin' on. I agree with GlazeyB that things looks promising for this show, but turning into a (silly) Harem would be unfortunate (Wikipedia says the series is a harem, which is fine with me as long as it keeps the serious tone)

Furthermore, Crunchyroll's translators: 'That angle is amazeballs'.
Heh, nice.

Dragon Ball Z Kai (2014) - Was very nostalgic, not much difference just going to expect they will add more episodes from the mange into the series.

Kai follows the manga more closely. Cuts out the filler from the original run too.

No Game No Life Episode 1 - Amazing first episode, I love where this anime is headed toward. Although I wish it was a single main character we have two siblings, not really a sign I want to see as they are together. The main protaginist seemed a bi evil toward the end, but that's the type of characters I love ex. Code Geass Anyway I love the ED song and animation provided. Lots of jiggle effects lol. Love the art and plot so far.

Blah64 04-09-2014 09:11 PM

No Game No Life - It reminded me quite a bit of 'Problem Children Are Coming From Another World Aren't They?'. I didn't really like the character introductions to 'prove' that they are 'overpowered' at games, but fortunately, characters only have to be introduced once. After that, I'm really liking it. Thought it was kinda funny how the world has robbers, but even they have to play a game to 'rob' you.

GlazeyB 04-10-2014 10:48 PM

So I found out why I loved the brocon for Irregular at Magic School.

Ayase's VA from Oreimo does her. <3

Livid 04-11-2014 11:16 PM

I've just waited instead of watched the anime's coming out, Ive been thinking to unsubscribe this thread because I kinda think it ruins the feeling of the anime if you dont watch it yourself so... CYA

Jojo's Bizarre adventures-Stardust Crusaders- Awesome show, candiate so far for anime of the year

Is The Order a Rabbit
KAWAII KAWAII KAWAII

Nanana's Buried Treasure

I have a feeling a couple of good twists are going to come from this story, really enjoyed the first episode.

Mekakucity Actors

Interesting art style, fresh. Story was a little vague about the the main plot point in the first episode, little random at times.

No Game, No Life

Definitely one of the series I'm expecting to be better than average, good first episode. Established the characters and their ability.

Hitsugi no Chaika
This show is going to get way more gorey if they did that to a unicorn. Looks like a decent action anime.

Black Bullet

This one is my most anticipated show of the season. I see only good things.

Blah64 04-22-2014 03:47 AM

Mekaku City Actors felt very similar to the monogotari series, except less pausing, and things make sense in English. I like the stylistic approach.

I looked up info on the show after watching. Apparently it is made by the same people, which would explain the similar feeling. Found out that it is also the anime adaptation of the 'Kagerou Daze' franchise, which is hugely popular in Japan. I've wanted to read the light novels, but they ain't in English, (only listened to/read subtitles for a few of the songs) so I'm definitely gonna be watchin' this, even though the show feels completely different than the songs they are based off of.

Keeluah 04-22-2014 05:10 AM

Ping Pong The Animation
This series has been my joke for before the release of this season. The art is just really bad, but the story on the other hand is quite decent and I enjoy it. It's kinda like Aku no Hana (Flower of Evil) where the story is good, but the art is just bad in so many levels.

Mangaka to Assistant-san
The level iof Ecchi is high in this series, but it's gave me a lot to laugh. The main character is voiced by the same guy who did Kirito, so it's kinda weird seeing a totally opposite character with the same voice.

Kanojo ga Flag
Being a fan of the manga I enjoyed this so far, though it felt a bit faster paced compared to how I read it. If you have seen the 15-so minute preview they released in March, you'd probably be watching this after seeing the cliffhanger they left in the preview.

Aku no Hana's art was based off live action footage.

Which means she (he?) on the right was a real person:
