Loots! Loots! and more Loots!
Ever wanted a thread where you can just chat about loots?!
well here you go! Here you can talk about your progress looting, favorite loot, how many kinds of loot you have, news about new loot, etc etc! |
I have 3 Strange Bricks. Living the life here.
|
I have one weird brick lol
|
I have sword of famine
|
i love how MrSimons and George the Kitty reacted on Skype when I found the Zorbi Helmet within 40 minutes of beginning to loot-- so much yelling and cursing :D
|
So far my favorite loot item was the ruined scarf because of the text :P!
"You found a ruined scarf!" "... Looks like somebody got tired of waiting." A lot of them are funny :P! |

Yeah I've been laughing a lot at the different descriptions. My favorite was for the boot: "We had a cliche quota to fill"
|
I have 63 different Loots
my favorite is the amulet, Wand Of elements, Shark tooth, And Ship Helm Everybody was asking me If Ship helm was a hat And I said its a wheel |
Or when you loot "rock" and it says: Why did you pick that up?
|
Got an old shoe, I am a god.

Breaking the fourth wall is the best. |
This is the real reason the railroad took so long to complete. They couldn't come up with puns or one liners for loot items.

I got two bricks. No other 'special' or 'rare' stuff, like those named weapons and things (dagger of famine?).
So far, my only wonder is why people all rush out to sell their stuff. Seems like we're just waiting for a crafting or exchange system with all that crap laying around... |
There won't be a crafting system. The goal was just to provide players with a lot of items to find so you wouldn't keep getting the same 10 items over and over. So it was hard to think of a lot of items to put in water that made sense... which is why there are items like that. It's just implying a world from long ago where these items existed but were lost over time in the water and such. This is why many of the descriptions for items that SEEM functional imply that they no longer are for various reasons.
Besides being able to turn some into hats/furniture, there was never any intention for them to become useful. It's all about selling. |
I'm on that water amulet and dagger of famine swag

Was there ever a definitive number given for the amount of loots there actually are? |

I dont mean to be the idiot here, but what is this about loot? I havent played classic in a while, but this sparks my interest. What are they? When were they added? How does one get these? I'm very curious as to what this is.

i really like looting, though they dont sell for much, its still fun :D
my only problem with the loot is for the strange brick, you cant control the layers. |
Also, could someone help me find and go through the quest? I was told it was the mask shop quest, but I didnt find a chest room or mask and flippers anywhere in the quest!

With the goggles, you do need the draisine though. You can find various guides if you look around on these forums as to how to go about obtaining them. |
I don't get it. Players beg, and beg, and beg for substantial content. Then content is provided and suddenly they want to get through it as fast as possible, not figuring it out/enjoying it so they can continue to complain that there's no content.

But I'm talking about the quests, the items... the core content. This is what people keep asking for. "Quests!" I watched when the railroads were released. It didn't take that long for people to piece everything together and figure it out with absolutely no help other than what was in the game and through exploring. The railroads were never meant to be... a huge quest. It was just some additional content meant to make it more interesting. But once you watch players, you'll realize this sort of attitude is very prevalent. A lot of players whined when they didn't get the Zorbi Helmet in the first 15 minutes of diving. They wanted it ASAP... It's not about the actual content, or the enjoyment or playing. They want what's at the end, and they want it as quickly as possible. They don't even try to enjoy the trip. I mean I know that it might not be fun for everyone, but I have a hard time understanding exactly what players want when they say "quests" and "actual content!" If I were to release a dungeon tomorrow, it'd be exactly the same. A lot of people just don't try. And it bugs me that so many people will read a tutorial and then complain when they do everything in a day. |
I really agree with Dusty. I too I'm ashamed for not actually finding things for my own and rushing everything. But I think that people complaining are a good thing. It means that they care about it. I really think you should just let them complain and let them figure out the importance of actually taking their time. I learned mine when this hat restock event went out. I was so excited and wanted to get all the things so I waited for the restock to happen and quickly buy the hat not caring about the look of the hat. And now I know to take my time, since I wasted lots of gralats on things I wont really wear, because when I go to all the resorts there are neater hats being sold and still on stock.
Patience is the key. |

Figuring out the new content with my friends was a blast; you won't here much whining here. Nearly everybody I have spoken to loves the new content; I believe a vocal minority is the one doing all the "whining" |
I had 3 zorbi hats in total before I painfully had to sell them in order to buy gifts :(
|
What if...
What if a new quest dont depends on guides, information or shortcuts and relies more on the player skills? Lets say you introduce a new quest with X reward item at the end, but in order to get the price you have to get trough some rooms. In one of them there's an NPC you have to fight, and you enter that room alone, like the Zorby cave or the house where you trade the matches for the pencil (i think). No help at all. This NPC is very hard, lets say 10.0 instead of 3.0, and he is a decent sparrer. If you die you are instantly teleported to the previous room, and you need to restart the fight. That way it doesn't matter if the information on how to complete the quest goes around in posts and guides, you still need to take your time to complete it, and if you are a lesser fighter this ends up being a very good training. Another room can be a randomized crate-moving puzzle, so regardless if you know what you need to do there will be not any guide to help you. You need to use your brain and patience. Another room could be a bug catching challenge with a timer: catch 10 cockroaches in less than 2 minutes and you can go on, otherwise you have to do it again. I know this can be a lot of work on programing, and IA for a decent fighting character can be a nightmare but you can find alternatives I guess. This will bring new forms of whining: 'It's too hard!', 'It's unfair for weaker players!'. But you just can answer 'hey, its supposed to be hard and especially for weaker players, so you can get your skills sharpened :) ' But anyway, it's just an idea. |
My content tends to provide players with enough information(or relies on information already in the game world) to connect the dots. I don't enjoy cryptic gameplay or trial and error, and if I wouldn't enjoy it I won't develop it.
I watched many people play the content for the Railroads when it was released, and none of them had guides. So at least, that is my goal when approaching new content. |
I never used a guide. I would much rather take my time and explore. I did check for guides afterwords just to make sure I didn't miss anything.
|
Yer, as long as a quest isn't at a point of blindly guessing and the player is given adequate yet however subtle hints, no guides should need be used provided the player's out to have fun.
|
Jeez, this thread is still alive? i suppose i'll say now that i've collected every loot item in the game and i have a grand total of about 12 bricks.
