"We have cancelled MegaMan Legends 3 because we don't have enough fans supporting this project."
*The next day, millions of fans stand in front of Capcom headquarters and protest to get Legends 3*

Dusty 09-01-2013 07:45 PM

Legends was the only one I ever played a lot of. I had the old ones on the NES but they were a bit too hard for me to enjoy... I mean I did play them a lot, but it's not the type of game I reminisce about.

MegaMan 64 was a bit sloppy. The original Legends had good GFX, though.

The Battle Network games never appealed to me at all. I remember a friend loved them in school though.

64 and Legends were the same game. It wasn't that it was sloppy(I liked the graphics themselves), but that the n64 and PSX handled some things differently. For example on the N64 textures were rendered with bilinear filtering and AA(which was good for games like Ocarina of Time, with busy textures, but bad for cartoony textures as it blurred them). On the playstation the textures looked crisp and clean(good for the cartoony vibe of MML), and on the N64 a bit blurry. However the PSX didn't handle textures very well which caused some odd "warping" as the textures skewed over the polygons in the quad, visible here:

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-i4TWq1d8YR...0screen005.jpg

Which I don't think the N64 had that issue. I can't remember the term for such a thing, but it's something that you'd see in a lot of oooold 3D games. In fact it may not have been a PSX issue so much as poor engine coding. I just remember games like Metal Gear Solid had the same issue with textures as well and I can't be assed to download MML64 to find out. However I don't remember older PSX games having the same issue(like Ape Escape)... so it may just have been the issues of developers being completely new to 3D development.

NeoZX 09-02-2013 03:18 AM

I know they Are the same game, just pointing it out that the Graphics are slightly better. I was wring to say sloppy, when they're better then most gfx today.

The BN games take a lot of strategy. Personally, I like this. Starforce is much harder though. 3 spaces to move in...block button to worry about...

*PSX is actually a system only released in Japan. It was a PS2, PS1, and a DVR. So...really it's not a PSX game; rather a PS1.*

The original creator of Mega Man kickstarted a new game called Mighty No. 9.
He has the original level designer and soundtrack composer on board as well.
Basically a spiritual successor to Mega Man since Capcom has squashed the franchise.

It's 3/4 of its goal on its first day.

"Great"? This is 20x better looking than any of the mega man games! Though I guess it isn't a fair comparison seeing as how Capcom decided to go retro instead of maintaining the newer graphics seen in mega man 7&8.

I really want to see where this goes. I hope it's gonna be a series!

That's kind of a weird point to make considering it's quite obvious what I meant. Anyways PSX is often used to describe the first generation of Playstations since there was a specific version of the playstation released called the PSOne:

And it wasn't the most durable thing either. Mine gave on me a long time ago... Man I really wish I could play all my awesome PSX games again, but I doubt my favorites are available on PSN. Those WWE/WWF games were probably the best wrestling games in history, and the customization was a little too robust. Not like I have anything to access PSN from anyway, but still, I doubt they have anything like what I had. Ugh, I never managed to get past Astro Man or whatever his name was on Mega Man 8, and he was the last robot master I needed to defeat before moving on to Wily's tower x.x

Excuse my nostalgic ramblings.

Or you know, the PSX like many others refer to it since no one is ever talking about some Japanese-exclusive console. My point? PSX or PS1... call it whichever since they're both applicable.

Yknow, Battle Network had so much potential. It was very suited for competitive play, because it was the definition of an action game. Reflexes and positioning were the key to victory. I was and still am a big MMBN fanatic... If only capcom could see how much potential the series had in it, then it probably would have lived on.

Fun Fact- leftover files in Mega Man Starforce indicate that it originally could have been another BN game, but apparently capcom decided to make an entirely new series.

Oh I know. I saw all of the unused 3D models, and the 7/11 in there! Just proves CapCom is a money hog XD (DLC proves that too). But the fact is, BN was getting old. SF isn't bad, it's harder. Like...really hard. I recommend SF3. I play online a lot.

I changed the image(though people quoting it didn't make things easy). I didn't get a warning when I found the image initially but after I woke up and viewed the image directly Firefox warned me. Chances are the site it was hosted on just got a bad ad or something(in case anyone was worried).

Maikeru 09-06-2013 08:43 PM

Mega Man is kind of like Sonic: They both got a mix of good games and bad ones, they have an obnoxious fanbase that won't stop protesting till they get a true game based on their originals, and they've been pushed back and forth multiple times until they finally reached out to Nintendo.

Only difference is that Mega Man has three cancelled titles (Mega Man Legends 3, Mega Man Universe, Maverick Hunter FPS game) and has started to become a sell-out where his name instantly sells shirts and other unneeded merchandise.

His inclusion in Smash Brothers 4 is like a departure from Capcom because they understand by themselves on how bad they messed up the Blue Bomber. The only Real survivor of the Mega Man family is Keiji's newest creation Mighty No.9 which looks more promising than what we have expected ourselves.

Story was meh... typical Nintendo stuff. However, I liked the alternate ways of unlocking stuff via story mode. It was so much easier to do the story than the old way of unlocking characters in Melee. I mean, I did unlock all the characters in Melee, but I'm getting too old for that ****, lol.

Would be nice but I'm not expecting much of Nintendo as far as online goes. SSBB online was horrible, and their decision to have button lag was horribly stupid. Ya, let's take a fighting game and have it where you punch 2 seconds after you hit the button....
