So there is a lot of it, we know.

How to resolve it? Harsher punishments! It is now a high priority offense, meaning one warning and you're jailed.

Any suggestions on how we can put a stop to it, let us know.

I personally believe racism to be one of the most serious offences, after all children play this game. I think it should be zero tolerance. But that's just me...

Well you could update the swear filter in a sense. I've mentioned before that it blocks the word "minigame" due to 3-4 consecutive letters within the word, but it should be detecting words that stand on their own, unless special capitalization is detected (if I were to, say, capitalize those 3-4 letter within the word). It should also count certain numbers as letters (ex. 1 as an I, 5 as an S, 4 as an A, etc.) and understand more words (the certain 5 letter word that people were calling the bat in Jeni's Secret). Those are all my ideas for now.

The jail time should start at a low amount (4hrs?), but increase if the player continues to offend (doubling each time?). We want this to come to an end so harsh(er) punishments should be given out so the player learns his mistakes and not continue.

This would double the rate of racism already localized.

Harsh Punishments, updated swear filter and i recommend something like an announcer that sends a message to everyone about racism and other things and results of doing so.
Or like a rulebook item you can read and cannot be deleted. Thats all i have as in ideas

"improving" the swear filter does nothing. The filter itself, is already flawed as is, including spaces for swear words.

I know if you report someone on iZone, it includes the reported players current client chat. This is helpful in depicting if someone is saying something, dunno if iEra has this same system.

Harassment will always take place on anything that is online. It won't just go away. I am glad people are taking this more seriously, but I also think players should keep in mind there is a block button for a reason.

To build off of that, blocking someone should also block their client chat as well, including PM's. Classic had/has the system, so I don't see why iEra cannot.

If a player I warned/ jailed too many times as a result or racism/ vulgarity etc. Said player should be limited to prewritten responses, 'Hello, How are you' Nice weather we're having!' 'Wanna spar?' 'Can I join your gang?' And you can buy more responses for gralats! If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it.

I believe with each offense the punishment should be increased first time jail for 12 hours. Second time Jail for a day, third time if they didn't learn the last two times, ban or jail for a week. Let it be known to those on the server of this. Let the word out that it's not ok to use racist comments for ones joy of it. Broadcast it ingame as well maybe once a week? I know many have graalians, but some don't read this.

You can't stop racism, just like you can't stop hackers. There will be loopholes. It's pointless to try to catch them all. The current system is fine, it's the Internet ffs. Stop being so butthurt, call the WAAmbulance, and log off.

I believe in action over sitting around and letting a known problem fester. You have a problem with players fighting vulgarity? Then get off the thread if you're not in support of this.

I don't see why it's so hard to prevent already, just log the last 20 or so chat messages or pms that a player sends, but only make it viewable by admins if the player on the receiving end reports them, so that it wouldn't be an invasion of privacy(by reporting a player it tends to mean I want it looked into, so it's not like admins will be able to spy on messages I sent to a friend unless he reports me for some reason)

IMO thread should be renamed to harassment instead of racism, since it is a broader category and racism can fall under it.

In terms of enforcment, I think you need a better way of documenting punishments and warnings of a player. For example, if some guy is throwing our racist or homophobic remarks at someone to try and offend them, and an admin warns them, they could put a note and date. For example:

This way admins will know if a player has been warned before by someone else, and can punish appropriately based on past actions rather than just their own experiences.

If anybody is being racist to you, or player(s) around you, message a staff member, aswell as reporting the player, until the staff arrives, please block the player, and ignore them, to prevent punishment on yourself. Thank you. :)

Most rude players only do it for attention. They think they're "cooler" by saying mean things. They can tease you, but the moral high-ground is yours.

give them the 3 strike rule. 3 times being caught and they lose all their precious items and a lengthy ban.

The full-on block and prewritten responses would both be very effective against all harassment. Good ideas guys. I'd love to see these.

You realize people will rebel and say bad things about races in the area..

I like this, add a criminal record to someone so punishment can be made easier to decide the lengh of time needed.

Racism is very controversial, it's often used by PRs to pick on people they don't like or to defend friends with ease. There shouldn't be any set rules, a PR should seek guidance from a PRA and players should have the right to object to an unfair judgement if they're not an obvious moron...

I like the one warning idea and ghetto's instant jail idea. Racism has been the cause of almost every war in history and should not be tolerated

I like the old punishment idea of digging an amount of shells an admin jailing a player sets, and you need to dig that amount to get out of jail.

I only meant that racism has been a problem throughout history, not that it would actually cause a war on a game..

Actually I agree with him (DragonRider). This is something that the community cannot stop. Racism like a lot of other bad things in this world will always remain. Sadly things like this are more prominent on the Internet due to the anonymity of being behind a screen. Censoring players will do nothing.

And this is just in 15min of online time, in the reports only... Feedback is worse lol.

Reports do get checked, shame 95% of it is spam.

Ill agree children behind the screen of their device will be racist. The point of the thread is to stop what happens faster, not censor it although jesters total block idea would work perfectly. I've watched this go on long enough to sit around and am speaking out dragon can be a **** over the Internet all he wants. The fact his trolling doesn't benefit the thread is obvious.

Just ban them for a week if found guilty. I dont care about a soft 1 hour ban be harsh with it because it will lower it down alot

Seeing how John has posted what people report, you guys need to buckle down on these unneeded reports.
1. They're getting in the way of the real reports
2. Make a punishment for false reports, where they can't use it for an amount of time? Or something else, not sure.

Ya I know numerous people use the report system when unneeded, so I don't know how you'd get to solve that problem.

For the racism - no matter where you go it's always there. Because of the false reports, I'm sure staff won't be able to get to the racist person on time, letting them get away with it. People always find a way to avoid the swear filter, which means if people keep limiting it, it will just turn into phrased chat. Someone had already said that, can't remember who/where, but I agree.

For now Im liking a complete block of chat and messaging if needed.

I also like the idea of a crime history on an individual. So that admins who deal a punishment don't have to do it based on their firsthand experience with them.

I'm all for a harsh punishment. An example should be made and a message sent out. A one week ban is something that can be tried.
