Sonic: Lost world

The gameplay has just debuted. It looks sort of like Super Sonic Galaxy. I really like the art style and the level designs look great.

i don't really see any gameplay, just cinematics and pre-defined sequences.

sonic team doesn't remember how to make a decent sonic game, so don't hold your breath.

Generations was pretty darn good and colors was decent, so that statement isn't really relevant anymore. I'm pretty sure the shots that were similar to the gif that I posted were indeed actual gameplay, but the camera was just fixed in certain positions due to to the sake of the trailer. At least, that is what it most likely seems like.

I love sonic, but I prefer the old gameplay they had on all the Gamecube Sonic games. As well as the voices and personalities. Sonic has been geared towards a younger audience as of Sonic Colors in my opinion. It's not as serious as Sonic Adventure/Sonic Adventure 2 and seems silly. Sonic Generations was good, but it lacked some features. This is also going to be exclusively for Nintendo systems like the WiiU and 3DS since they partnered with Nintendo.

The serious tones and modern setting of the sonic games in the early 2000's were actually a negative to most fans. Sonic has always been about a lighthearted and "cool" force of nature that is helping nature from being hurt by industrial evil.

This game seems to be focusing on the Classic sonic games of the 90's and really seems to embody the spirit of them as well. In my opinion, I could care less if it is silly or not very serious.

A lot of people loved the old Sonic games. Fun fact though, I hate the Sonic fan base. Impossible to please them.

Doesn't look like much!?!? It's oozing with style. Look at the screenshots I posted, not the trailer.

Generations wasn't a real Sonic game imo, it was more of a tribute to the series. As a game, it sucked. The hub world was nothing compared to the original Sonic Adventure and the story/boss was complete and absolute ass. The only good thing they did was revisit + reimagine the better times and remix the tunes.

I'm still waiting for a Sonic Adventure 3 that follows Sonic Adventure's footsteps. That game had some pretty horrid flaws (Big the Cat campaign, lmfao) but the other bits were decent. The storyline was actually somewhat interesting, and it was nice to see everyone's campaigns blend together. Gameplay was fast paced and iirc the platforming was toned down. The hub world was also neat, I want to see it come back on modern consoles.

I suppose they're trying to go back to Sonic's roots, but it really looks like they're trying too hard.

Sonic's always been a good casual game, I haven't really thought of it as anything more. I'm not really even a hardcore sonic fan, but I'll be sure to check this game out. Still looking for a game unique yet popular enough to get my channel a head start.

I think you're being a little over critical. I can't see how they're trying to hard considering they are actually injecting some new ideas into the series and making it more different than it ever has been. If you're referring to the style, the style seems to be looking great in my opinion. It looks to me as if its the first true 3D representation of the 2D games from the 90's. I honestly hated the realistic approach that sonic has been taking over the last decade. The reason I hate realistic sonic games like that is because it further proves that 3D sonic games dont have a standard style, or a set universe. They don't feel like sonic. Lost Words seems to finally be going back to a universe that feels more like "Sonic".

If you think the Adventure series had better gameplay than Generations, I don't think I should be arguing with you because your opinion is so wildly different than mine I could never even comprehend what was going in your head. The reason I said that Generations and colors were great was because they finally nailed the core gameplay down in those games. Adventure was a mess. I could care less about the hub world, the story, or whatever. That isn't what makes a sonic game, and it never has been.

Oh yeah, and here's the box art:

The game looks nice but for me at least, the way the running has felt in the last few sonic games hasn't been all that great. They can't seem to get down the old feel.

I don't mind the universe it's set in, it just looks like they're trying to use the nostalgia factor and Sonic's history to pull this off, where it should be the gameplay that they need to focus on. I didn't mind the modern Sonic style, and I thought Sonic X kind of pulled it off (only saw a couple of episodes).

I'm not comparing anything to Generations, because I don't consider Generations to be a true Sonic game. It's just a tribute to Sonic. The thing about Adventure that stands out is its speed. Sonic is supposed to be all about the flow and speed. I thought the storyline, hubworld, etc were all nice additions, but the core gameplay was fast paced. Sonic had fresh moves that he didn't have before and we got to explore a lot of areas in 3D while not being weighed down by ****ty controls or awkward platforms. It's the camera that always ruined the earlier 3D Sonic games. I've never played Color, so I can't judge that one.

With all that said, we really need to ask ourselves...was Sonic actually ever a good game? Were the first 3 ever really...good? I was a Sonic fanboy when I was young, but having gone back and played them multiple times I can't help but feel it was overrated. The only bits of the game that were speedy and flowed well were all pre-defined (by that I mean you just ran into bumpers for 20 seconds and then got thrown onto a platform section). The thing that set Adventure apart from that was that it was fast paced and you were actually controlling Sonic. Adventure 2 ****ed it up by slowing the character down and adding more platforms everywhere. Heroes was just...yeah...and let's not talk about Shadow the Hedgehog.

Generations is a good start, but it still has some of the classic Sonic flaws. I'm hoping this new Sonic flows well rather than stutter itself like the other Sonic games.

Sometimes I swear Mario is faster in terms of gameplay and flow. ._.
