Is anyone getting this? I preordered it for the 360 yesterday and it's coming out on the 6th. I'm going to game out with a couple of my friends. I read somewhere that it's kind of like the Fallout series but with zombies. (I've never played Fallout)

I've been looking forward to it for about a year now, I'm trying not to get my hopes up for it though, a lot of games that came out recently and should have been really good have disappointed me.

Dead island finally Lol (have Xbox,Ps3)

This game looks very good, and I'd love to buy it personnaly.

Hmm... any idea how big it'll be in terms of players?

There is four main characters, so pretty much a co-op Fallout is what the game will be like, I'm assuming.

It's going to be up 4 multiplayer, I do believe, it's like Borderlands and Dead Rising had a baby.

It was announced in 2007, teaser in 2007 and release date erly 2009. They dont release after everyone waitts and finally 2011 and now theyre gonna release. Waited to long... idk yet.

Waited 6 years for skyrim... And it's gonna boss. Nufsed.

Dead Island seems like it's going to be good but im not getting it. All about that BATTLE FIELD 3!

I recommend everyone watches it fullscreen, in HD, and the whole thing.

It was a good trailer, ironic it has nothing to do with the actual storyline, though.

Skyrim wasn't announced to be released then randomly wasn't and the company who made it didn't just stop talking about it like Dead Island was.

Apparently they didn't remove a developer feature, and if you press Y after you finish the prologue you can fly anywhere around the world.

Horrible, horrible character models. Just downright horrible. L4D got slack for showing that the "Source engine is past its prime" but the characters in that look leagues better than the ones in Dead Island.

I've been playing with my friends for a few days now.. it's so addicting.

dead island=Bugs, bugs, bugs.
The story starts u r going out of ur room. stealing money out of bags and stuff. Makes no sense at the begining xD

lmao its so buggy, the devs aparently did no testing and released it before its been finished, on several boards everything is in mirror writing because a dev screwed up and made it backwards, you can apparently just use no clip, and its possible to get hit by the crashing plane if you use no clip. plus there is pretty funny crap, like a porno set with a infected woman in bondage with the cameras still rolling, and everyone is in shorts and bikinis. the weapon crafting a exploring and repairing is great, the driving is fun with the hitting zombies and stuff, if you look past the horrible blank look and hyperextended elbows of the character driving, and the fact that during a cutscene a player can kill the npc you are talking to.

i like the melee fighting style, its more physical and fun than just spamming bullets, and lots of stuff can be used as a weapon, and many hilarious ways to kill zombies, one of my favorites is setting up a bunch of canisters, driving a car toward the canisters with the zombies there, then getting out using the exit car glitch and watch the still driving car hit the canisters blowing everything up.

First thing my friends and I did was charge towards a single zombie in a bathing suit and kick the **** out of it. Quite the funny (and stereotypical) image. :]

Beat the game. Was really fun, but really buggy.

So I've played it and it almost feels like it's Fallout 3 with zombies. I'm not talking about the gameplay though, I'm talking about the engine and basic functionality. Everything down to looting every container you find and the horrible animation(mostly human animation). Even the way the camera zooms in on the NPCs when you initiate a conversation and the grating voice overs.

Still seems like it's going to be fun however(open world + zombies? Hell ya!)

Also it took a little while to figure out how to actually start the game. It kept telling me I had to be connected to Xbox Live(I cancelled it) and I thought it was online only until I finally figured out the settings. They should have at least detected your connection and adjusted that automatically.

Dusty play analog controls. Made the experience ten times better. Hit start menu and change it under options.

The game is awesome but something happened when I was %80 into the game and I had tO start all over again :(

Honestly i think it was a rather good game, it seriously reminded me of the Fallout 3 engine too.

Is it worth buying?

I'd say only if you have friends actually willing to play with you. The problem on top of that though is that enemies scale to levels, so it's ideal to play with friends at the same level as you. It can be pretty hard to organize play with others(ideally you'll all want to start a new file together and then schedule times to play afterwards).

It's not really a pick-up-and-play type of co-op.

But if you're not looking for online you might enjoy it still; I got pretty bored of it after I got to the city. After you get to the city it becomes way too dangerous to just casually explore anything so you tend to just start grinding missions. Take a mission, go exactly where you need to, complete objective and get reward. At least in the first part of the game you could go wherever you want with the only resistance being stray walkers. Once you get to the city though you have infected/zombies EVERYWHERE and the main challenge becomes actually getting to the objectives without dying. If you enjoyed Fallout you may like it on its own, though imo it's a bit dumbed down and doesn't have lasting appeal.

I personally loved the story line. The ending shocked me, as well.

When I read reviews a lot of it is around bugs and the cut scenes being stiff x-x It honestly sounds like a good game concept, I just don't wanna go spend some cash on a big fat buggy game lol

Never played Borderlands, but the co-op is basically where one person hosts and your load your character into their world. This includes their current storyline progress, mission status and so on.


It is pretty glitchy, and imo combat is very clunky. Cutscenes are horrible(most of the game implies you are on your own, then one or two cutscenes show the entire cast appear out of nowhere) and just poorly done. To top it off the voice acting actually made me cringe. I hated listening to even the main characters talk.

The redeeming factor here is that it's literally just a miniature sort of Fallout-type RPG where they shove you in a world with lots of people that have favors to ask of you... with zombies everywhere. There's cars which are fun to drive, but kills from using a car get little XP and eventually zombies get so strong you can't even kill the normal walkers with a car(which is stupid, I think).

If you're curious and have a console, rent it or something I guess. It's a game that had a ton of potential I feel, but was just shoddily executed. Worth a rent though.
