Hat Descriptions/Names
I've noticed that admins don't bother giving descriptions/names to match the majority of hats. Onnet was recently stocked with Cinco De Mayo hats, and none of them have descriptions. Hell, I don't even think Onnet festive hats are ever given a description. Aside from that, the names are very bland as well. Cinco De Mayo Hat, Cinco De Mayo Mask, Skull Mask/Hat, you probably get the gist. The furniture hold descriptions, but they're bland as can be. Cinco De Mayo Chair: "A festive chair".
This is the exact opposite of The World of Mirth. If you take your time to check that place out, you'll find that all the hats are equipped with witty descriptions and fitting titles. Why should descriptions and names matter? They're interesting, and make the hat hold some sort of value. Descriptions of hats should also be shown when equipping a hat. tl;dr all hats should have cool descriptions and names. What are your thoughts? |
does it really matter, your just gonna buy the hat.
|
I feel warm inside when they do...
|
sure you do.
because Thats very believable |

People buy hats for the look, not the description. Sure, if they invested 10-20 seconds in creating a one sentence description, it may increase the appeal, but they couldn't care less.

a description is pointless/ a waist of time+ admins are too lazy to do it anyway |
How about just delete the description part? I never read them.
|
Yeah - I really like it when hats have nice names/descriptions.

Just continue doing what you're doing. There's really no good reason to be against them. |
Y'all ain't got eyes??

Myst why post on this thread? if you don't like the idea don't bother talking, instead of shoving your ideas about how it doesn't matter down people's throats.
|
I've seen some hat/item descriptions that have made me chuckle/laugh from a witty pun, and I've gotta say it sure is more appealing than "A nice hat.".
|
i like the descriptions..i actually thought of this the other day when i bought the Green hat from nexus. The name was so lammeeeeeeeee "Nexus Exclusive Hat"...they could have at least called it a genie turban |:
edit: on second thought rofl, i wouldnt mind not having a description for hats. They'd probably hire another set of noobs to manage the descriptions or they'd probably get the events team to do it...no one in the ET staff can spell. All of their broadcasts are so bland and repetitive "I WILL BE DOING SUMO. FIND THE WARPER AND YOU GET THIS HAT"...its like they have a template which they copy and paste every time they hold an event. If thats the case, then why not just make an automated bot to do events? |
I do agree, and have always thought that hat descriptions are getting bland. I'm not sure if I would be tempted to buy these hats, but I do like reading descriptions.
I remember when Revolution items had a clever description. Quote:

A bit off topic here but the best event host is Spyke. The way he broadcasts his messages is pretty sweet, and you can tell that he doesn't just use the standard copy and paste template.

Using the same words over and over again shows that you have low vocabulary.. technically you cant spell any other words other than ones you use. I don't have the best vocab but i give things ago, even if it doesn't make sense. I only brought up spelling because I said that I wouldn't want the ET to be in charge of the hat descriptions..imagine how repetitive and boring the descriptions will be: "this is a black hat" or "A hat with a cat on top". edit: they dont even bother to use any of the smiley faces..:dazed: i feel like that they're doing events because they are forced to..not because they enjoy doing it. |

Of course titles and descriptions matter. Especially if you slap the word "rare" on an item. It makes people want it even more. It's also nice to have a little background on the item you're buying. For example, "Forged in the greatest depths of darkness, this mask was created from shadows of the wicked." with a title like "Eternal Chaos Mask".

I think specific, accurate descriptions are necessary for people who dont know exactly what it is... Ya know, when you walk into Nafet's and think, "mm cool hat... that ones overpriced... this hats pretty... OMFG WTH IS THAT?!"

i felt awful for some of the Canvas members, last halloween, seems as if the writers for the description didn't even read the title card, for i.e the bat cap someone made, was named "Monster cap, made by _____." only mine, and some of pharaohs had a proper description, e.x "Graal-O-Ween Cap, made by Yami" -- i've noticed that quite often (with the exceptions of some.), having the title and descriptions not even coming close to the title card.
|
sometimes they edit out the title card for using file space.
