Need a gaming laptop.
So my birthday is around and my desktop is bad now and It can't even run a simple game like minecraft. My budget is $350-$550. I know what you're thinking,I probably can't get **** for that. But at least something that can run steam games and minecraft, not flawlessly but bearable. If anyone can help me out that with this,I would appreciate it.

Build a gaming computer
|
Like a desktop or a laptop?I mean,I'm a computer guy,but not a genius,I've never built my own. Also is it within my budget,if so you'll have to link me to the parts.

A new Mac desktop... Amazing... For PC Era.

1) he asked for a laptop 2) the fact you mentioned Mac was amazing Also, just go with what Shawn (Doctor) said, go build one. Gaming laptops are in the $800+ range. |
$800 is a lot,is there any laptops in my budget that runs games smoothly as long as you manage your memory/games?

At the end of the day, a budget laptop is not going to play any games, not even flash games or Minecraft(at a decent framerate). Gaming laptops are a very specialized build and will be very expensive(it all comes down to dedicated graphics card, and laptops tend to have integrated). If you're working with a very limited budget and want to game, you will need to go desktop, and if you really want to get your bang for your buck, build it yourself. |
Buy a used one at GameStop.
|
Alienware laptops are 100% best place to go. They range around 2000--1000$ but its worth it . I would not recommend getting a toshiba or a dell . Don't get a laptop notebook . That's all I have to say

@ dusty my 2 year old laptop i got for $400 runs gw2 and tera on lowest settings smoothly, and less graphically intensive games like HoN and LoL on high settings at 60 fps. It can also run tf2 and vindictus maxed out at 30 fps. |
I have an alienware laptop. Honestly, you are pretty much paying for the light-up keyboard. It is a good computer and all, but for the price you pay for it you can get a much better laptop
|
Laptops in general have bad price-performance ratios, let alone gaming brand laptops. I would go for a custom-built desktop computer - you can build a decent one in the $500-$600 range. It wouldn't be playing games like Crysis 3 at full setting at a clean, uninterrupted framerate, but it will perform most games well with acceptable performance - far, far better than a laptop.
|
Okay! So i can build a gaming desktop for around $300-$550?! That sounds great. I shall do that, but I'll need some help.
|
Well, Talon's definitely your guy.
|
ASUS Republic of Gamers series.
...way out of your budget though |
-Gaming
-Mobility Choose one. |
AlienWare.
|
OMFG scratch the word Gaming.. Just a computer that doesn't frame rape within my budget!
|
What game is it that you're wanting to play?
|
Go for desktop. Laptops are freaking expensive.
You probably don't need a new computer. Just a new video card. |
For $500, it is almost impossible to purchase a laptop that can't run a game like minecraft at 60fps or higher. Just wait for a good sale at bestbuy, better yet wait until a time of the year where sales are more noticeable (back to school, christmas, boxing day).
I'm currently on a desktop I bought around 3 years ago for 399$, and it runs almost every single game I would want it to run fine. Even came with onboard GFX. |

Any GPU around the $100-$120 range should work fine for those games, and the remaining $400 could probably complete the rig efficiently.

Anyways, budget laptops aren't going to cut it if you're trying to get the best experience on a laptop. If its not $800+ then you're not spending enough. |

Go get your desktop then. |

http://deals.woot.com/ But you will need to upgrade more than just your graphics card. You'll probably need to upgrade the PSU as well. |

I built my last gaming laptop from xoticpc.com. I chose Sager and built a laptop 2 years ago that still can play all the games out today without issue. It was cheaper for me to import the laptop from USA than to buy it locally :x |
Okay bud first of all laptops shouldnt be used for gaming .. well thats what i believe.
you should build a pc its not that hard and you get the best preformance for cheap now lets start with the basics you will need a case. now this is important beacuse you do not want a small case nor a big one for no reason so lets find some hmm.. CASES You dont need to worry about how the case looks as long as its good i guess mid towers are fine but it can sometimes get cramped mini towers maybe way to small to fit the good **** and full towers are down right expensive and not that much needed unless youre building a beast as gaming pc with freaking 5d :P so mid tower http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-...computer+cases seems nice. you can fine anything that suits you. PSU now a psu(power supply ) i suggest a 500w psu since thats the need for most graphic cards. psu is where you do not want to go cheap on.i had a 160wat psu and a nvidia 8400gs and the minimum requirements was a 300w and i ended up frying my graphics card ;(.. most trusted brands are antec, crosair, xfx, coolmaster, seasonic a 500w is typically about 50-60 http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Builde...s=power+supply motherboard the mother board is crucial this determines what processor you can put the ram etc..http://www.amazon.com/LGA1155-CrossF...ds=motherboard this is an expensive one but good maybe for dual graphics card but i would choose something like this http://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-GA-97...ds=motherboard which is all you need. cpu now you can get intel or amd. nvidia cards run well on intel processors and radeon runs better on amd. i suggest amd well cause i have that. modern games look for dual core at at least 3.0GHz remeber the motherboard up top has a am3+ socket so the cpu has to be am3+ http://www.amazon.com/AMD-4-Core-Pro...ords=processor BOOM! graphics card okay now that that's out the way.. you will need a graphics card. any graphics card works on a mother board as long as its in the right place pci express of course. if the card says 2.1, 2.0.,3.0 pci express it can still work in a 1.0 x 16 slot but not on it maximum performance. now graphic cards can vary it depends. for high quality settings for all modern games i suggest the radeon 6770 http://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-677...&keywords=6770 memory. make sure your motherboard can handle it. buy two of these http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-CT2566...ds=ddr3+memory im not sure if the can work on that gigabtye motherboard but do some research Harddrive now 1tb is good but you can go lower if you want http://www.amazon.com/WD-Blue-Deskto...rds=hard+drive cd drive something basic http://www.amazon.com/Asus-24xDVD-RW...s=cd+rom+drive others the cords you need dvi, vga,or hdmi what ever you want or need. theres not much more you can get except tools i guess and that will be about 20-30 so lets calculate. case-50$ motherboard-100 $max psu-60$ processor-100$ ram chips depends on the size 30-40$max graphics card-120$ harddrive-40$ cd rom-20$ accessories-10$ total- 510 with those items i think they will be cheaper :P i just kinda rounded them a bit more. |
He's not building one.
Yeah, if you're not building one, you're not going to find any (good) desktops - let alone laptops - tailored for gaming in your price range, unless you're fine with integrated onboard graphics which can only run low settings at 40-50 FPS. |
