High school classes
Yesterday my class got paperwork to register to go to high school (since my last year in middle school is almost over). It had the list of what classes we could take. I signed up for advance placement English, I picked geometry for math, for my elective I picked asb. What did you have for high school? And if you are in collage what are you taking now :)?

For my elective i picked Concert band and i picked geometry for my math also :P

This year I had English 2, AP US History, Honnors Algebra 2, Spanish 2, Biology, Health, Computer Graphics and a Study Hall. Next year I'm hoping to take Anatomy, Chemistry, AP Spanish, AP Government, Creative Writing (maybe, not really sure yet), Precalculus, Business and Computer Graphics again.
|
For my last two years of school I picked Advanced Maths, Advanced English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Software Design and Development.
|
Algebra II PAP, English II PAP, World History AP, Computer Science PAP, Chemistry PAP, Spanish IV AP (dropped, now it's Psychology AP), and Band.
|
This year I have:
Physics I Wilderness Survival College Pre-Calculus (With College Algebra) English IV Band/Chorus College Psychology Economics |
I dropped out of high school to pimp overweight African-American women. 'Nuff said.
|
Music Instrument (band class for others), Cooking 1, Digital Arts, English 3 & 4 (Decided to take both in one whole year), Spanish 2, Health 4 and Gym.
|
Geometry or Algebra II, depending if I can take computer Math in 10th grade along side of Algebra II.
English AP Jazz Band Earth Science German 3 Physical Education / Drivers Ed World History Resource I'm aiming for at least a 4.3 GPA and an advanced diploma. |
-AP ComputerScience A (java)
-AP Statistics -Calculus3 / DifferentialEquations (hell ya, highest math class offered) -Accounting (:/ buncha idiots in that class...) -Web II (ok i dropped this semester bc it was sooo boring) -college CompisitionII hm my previous high school years ive taken both US & World History, uh well every math class before Calc3, biology, AP Chemistry, englishenglishenglish, 2yrs of French, a couple othe computer classes, a few art classes... i hate picking electives at my school. my school has enough money to fund for a large variety of electives, but none of them really interest me... |
AP English/Lit
AP Biology/Chemistry AP US History and such ^ theses classes took up most of my time in high school. Wasn't in AP math classes though, wasn't very good at math. Last math class I took was Algebra 2. We had a CISCO class in the school, but it was impossible to get into... :( the closest thing we had to an accessible tech class was Typing. LOL. Really wish there were computer science classes, I would have enjoyed them. I took some art classes of course, but they sucked pretty bad. Took Spanish classes... did horrible. Failed it once then struggled to pass it(needed two Foreign credits to graduate). |
Should i feel bad that ive never heard of half these classes?

ADVICE FOR PREPARING FOR COLLEGE CLASSES
Screw taking "College Prep" or AP classes unless you KNOW they give you college credits or set you on a path to get college credits in future high school classes. And make sure the college you are getting credit for IS the college you are for sure going to. If not you're just doing harder work for no reason. Colleges look at ACT/SAT and GPA more than specific classes. Try to get into the highest math and science classes possible for your grade. Even if you're just taking the average class don't fail them. This pays off huge in the future and means less classes that you will have to pay for. Trust me, I know you're in high school and you think it's still a long time before you have to worry about college but it truly is worth it and you'll thank yourself when you get there. I'm currently playing catch up in math before I can even think of starting on my degree. PS: Geometry as a freshman is a great start, I hope you do well. Quote:

Planning on taking these classes next year:
- AP Literature - AP Gov/Econ. - Physics - Calculus Maybe Computer Science for an elective. |
GCSE Art
GCSE Business Studies GCSE Graphic Design And anything compulsory.. i.e English, Maths etc. I'm from England, we don't use this AP system for classes you guys have, so im just curious, is AP the classes you take when you get older, everyone takes them, or are they the classes that those who are very good at the subject take? |
Yeah, this AP or number system is weird, they just restrict the harder classes to the smarter kids (ie the sciences are hard to get into with the smarter kids taking priority) and have tiered maths/english (advanced being the highest)
That's backwards Australia, anyway. |

They were a crapton of work, at least for me personally. I know in my english/lit classes I was writing an essay every week in class, in an hour, and constantly reading books and such. I learned a lot though, and my teachers were nice(and involved). |
