When is a noob not a noob?
 

It seems that new players get the picked on all the time and called noob by older players, and it kinda sucks for them cause there just trying the game for the first time, and the first impression is always the time when you say to your self, am i going to keep playing this game or is it a big waste of time like all the other crappy apps in the app store? so to get an idea and maybe help others with this info, when is a noob not a noob???

I think that hours aren't a reliable way of telling if people are 'Noobs'. I've been playing iClassic on/off for two years and I've just recently hit 1k online time.

Noob means new player, there is no time limit until you are not a noob. Any noob can enter graal city and not explore just to talk to people other then play the game and will have a few hundred hours

People don't really use noob for new players anymore. Just for anyone they don't like.

Ya, I agree that hours may not be the best way to measure 'noobness' but I say generally around 200-300 hours most players are out of that 'noob' stage and pretty much know what's going on. Of course as with anything, there are exceptions. If you pick up games quick you might leave noob status at 50 hours.. Or the opposite it could be even 400 hours. These are just my observations from playing and dealing with people.

No, one is a noob on here. It's a simple game to play.

I don't necessarily would call someone a 'noob' based on their hours, but more of their actions. Ignorance is what defines a 'noob'. Ignorant filth that refuses to change their mindset. They've chosen how they are. They've chosen to be stupid. Still, there is one good thing about them. They're easily swayed by any radical blather that appeals to them.

I use the word "newb", ot "choob" way more than "noob/n00b", but I call nearly everyone a newb who just annoys me lol.

i dont think people get my point when i call them noob..i just use the word fagot, its more direct and less icky.

I must say i like the way you guys are responding to this thread. And judging by what i am reading, i love the vibe you guys have on this subject. The point of this post is to give me an idea on how people take the word noob and also how they feel on the subject. Now i just wish i could find out how the other 7654765365436543765 players feel :)

Not really true 'noobs' but if there were it would be determined on who they know and what they have contributed to the community.

i feel sad and annoyed that i get called a noob..most times i handle it quite well by just ignoring people but sometimes i just rage at them by throwing a few comments about their stats fallowed by a your momma joke

Well when i first started i was dealing with the same thing. hate from all angles and no matter were you go every one would call you a noob! its a sad thing to have to deal with when you love the game so much... At first it don't bother you, but after hearing them say it over and over and over again can get rather annoying after a while cause when it comes down to it that's how they feel about you with out taking the time to get to know the person, its sad but true i hope this post changes at least some peoples minds about calling others noobs :)

I mainly play Team fortress 2 now, so I people "f2p", "M1 pyro", or "Gibus heavy" instead.

I think it's just a matter of how much do you know about this game.

When you look at one's profile you can just tell from certain things (not sure what) that someone is a noob.

That's more of a 'newb' than a noob. Noobs are more based on how they act. But if it's newbs this thread is about, then the title is a bit misleading. The difference between a newb and a noob is a new player that is inexperienced can easily apply themself and not be considered a newb in no time by learning about the game and all. A noob on the other hand, is filth. They know they're stupid. They know they can change and act more civilized. They just don't care or are willing to do anything about it. Example: Trolls, Dirty RPers, Bigots, Scammers, and all those types of people. So if this is the case, yes we've all been both at one point in our time but the more you act like a noob, the more you become one. As for newbs, it all depends on how fast the person figures out the game. I've seen people with 1k, 2k hours that are still clueless about graal. So there really isn't a set amount of time.

some people would argue that doing this in itself would make someone a noob. (unless it’s your friends profile that you’re looking at) looking at random peoples profile is just to nooby for me.
