Auctions

I recently returned from a holiday and i went on graal to c what was new, i saw about7-15 ppl holding umbrellas and other auction rares in the start area

why must admins host auctions so god damn much?

Ash* 01-03-2013 12:53 AM

Maybe cuz people actually like them so it gives them a good rep also they dont host them alot only like during holidays they do

Myst 01-03-2013 12:54 AM

yes im so jelous cause i dont have pixels :'(

I don't mind occasional auctions, but for the past few months (in exclusion to the holiday shops, quests, etc) the only new items have pretty much been auction-only. Sure, rare items are cool and all, but having only rare, expensive things being produced will ruin the server for new people trying it out

Rockstar 01-03-2013 12:59 AM

Why make a thread about auctions then?
Stop complaining, build a bridge and get over it.

Myst 01-03-2013 01:01 AM

to discuss the matter at hand

I don't think there's really an issue here. Some might argue that there aren't enough auctions. Either way, there's always going to be plenty of auctions as it's where a large part of the income comes from.

cky2013 01-04-2013 03:37 AM

can anyone tech me tip of auction bid:D?

i always fail...:(

fsh 01-04-2013 03:39 AM

usually people get ready and use countdown timers which is complete bullsh¡t I think.

poorface 01-04-2013 03:40 AM

Either have a timer or spam the crap out of that bid button. I wouldn't listen to me though, I've never won an auction

fsh 01-04-2013 03:43 AM

i thought you have a souizen

cky2013 01-04-2013 03:43 AM

becuz i saw some people always win bid so i think maybe it have tips?

Ghettoicedtea 01-04-2013 04:53 AM

i have try that before but never won one ~ . ~

poorface 01-07-2013 03:42 PM

You can also type in a crazy number like 4473466643 even if you have only 10000. It will automatically make your bid the next highest, and you won't be able to go over your limit. I usually add two random digits to the number that was given when I clicked the button.
And no fsh, I don't have a souizen :(

i have 100k but after i bid the number of bid will back to same price of the item:(

poorface 01-07-2013 05:06 PM

So it goes up by increments of ten right? Heres a hypothetical situation: Say it's at 23730 when you hit the button. Then you type in 2374089 (23740 is the number it gave you when you hit the button) even though you only have 35000 and hit enter. By then, multiple people have already bid and it's at 25830, and your bid goes to 25840, because it is the next number in the increment cycle of 10. They do this by time instead of letting us choose the amount because things would be much more expensive and people would complain.

ÈXØD¡ÄX* 01-09-2013 01:50 PM

What I do is only add 0(zero) each time I type the bid price and it automatically going to highest bid

failure 01-10-2013 10:42 PM

I add like 8 zeros and wait until my timer hits 15 seconds remaining. Then I hit bid, then add 3 zeros then bid, and repeat. That's how I won a souizen.
Or you can just add like 20 zeros and wait until like 1 second left and bid. But that's risky, as your timer may be off.

What do you mean by timer, I have never seen One in the auction rooms.

Wolfy 01-11-2013 01:56 AM

stupid everyones like to buy gralat packs to out compete everyone showing off a crap ass recolor of an umbrella. everyone who bids on auctions is a scrub and i will automatically lose respect for you if you do. thanks

poorface 01-11-2013 01:57 AM

You get another device, say a stop watch or a phone, and hit a stop watch when you see the auctioneer say ":host_item-item_4-2" and wait until it says the amount of time in minutes that corresponds to a number in the sentence stated earlier. One of the numbers is the number of items hosted (like 2 gold Uzis for example) and the other is the time. I'm not very sure which is which though. Also, I'm not sure if everything punctuation and content wise in that example is accurate, it's just a gist: you see two numbers. One of them is usually 1 so look at the other

I still don't get it so if an admin that's hosting says :host_item-burger_4-2 should it be 4 minutes or 2 minutes?

bobo 01-11-2013 02:33 AM

I think the command is something along the lines of:
:host item_melee-umbrella 1 5
The first number, in this case 1, is the quantity of the item. Usually it is 1, but sometimes it's 2 for water pistols, golden Uzis, or something like that.
The second number, in this case 5, is the duration of the auction in minutes. This auction will end exactly 5 minutes after the command is processed. If you set a timer, I would bid at around 4:59 or sooner depending on your reaction time and Internet connection.

I wasn't sure, so I said to use the one that isn't a 1. Bobo explained it better than I did :P

JakeRage 01-11-2013 04:58 AM

How long do you set the timer for and should you start the timer right when the auctions first bid starts?

poorface 01-11-2013 12:37 PM

Do a stop watch so you don't have to scramble to set the right time and count how far off you are. I think you do it as soon as you see the staff member say the command

Auctions are a source of income for EuroCenter who hosts the Graal Servers for iDevice. The admins don't really collect any income for themselves but send it to the unknown big bosses at EuroCenter.

The more auctions, the more people will be gralat packs, the more money for EuroCenter.

So, if it isn't already clear, there will be many auctions because it makes money for EuroCenter.
And if snk can keep EuroCenter happy, he keeps clear from sh*t.

Geeze 01-15-2013 05:51 PM

Stop complaining there is too many auctions and the items arnt ganna be rare... All they need to do is make more auction items..
