Minecraft - Expired - Server Donations

Hello Graalians,

If you enjoy playing on the Graalians Minecraft Server and would like to keep it online we need your donations!

Our current server package costs $30 USD per month so numerous small ($1-2) donations will go a long way to help pay the bills.

Donation Goal: $90 - REACHED

Current Donations Total: $90

Generous (>$5) donators will receive special benefits on the server. We'll update the post when the benefits have been sorted out.

For such a small amount of money I don't think Kickstarter would be right for this nor is it really a 'creative project' that they seem to require.

Scaal 10-08-2011 06:36 PM

is there a way to donate with your cellphone? i dont have any credit cards or anything :(

Beholder 10-08-2011 07:04 PM

I'm normally not the donating type, but technically I already gave to charity today so what the hell.

-$8.00

Most of these services have fees attached to them and strict requirements and would require me to link my bank account to them.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to provide a donate by SMS option.

Vudu 10-09-2011 04:07 AM

May I suggest asking Graal for some help with donations I know they make at least $400 in 1 day.
Also I am considering donating but not sure how much to donate

A Minecraft server is not their busines. If they donīt even pay some hard working admins on the iServers, I donīt think that they will donate.

Everything counts.

fp4 10-09-2011 04:32 AM

If you want to ensure the server will be around next month. Donate $22.

Vudu 10-09-2011 04:44 AM

By the end of next week I will see how much I can donate.
Because I enjoy the server and I don't need it going down:)

I donated some, that number should be lower.

Higbey 10-09-2011 06:22 AM

Is this gonna turn into one of those "donate to build" worlds? :/ I wish I could pay for stuff with cash. I dont have a credit card and I cant convert my cash into money on my paypal

LavaClaw 10-09-2011 06:27 AM

On another server i play on, they do this way to get money where you pay, for example $10 and you would get the title 'Iron Donor' and you would get some cool commands and if you payed $5 more you would go to the next rank (Gold Donor) which had a few more commands and it got better until the titles hit Diamond Donor which had a lot of nice commands and a customisable prefix.

Higbey 10-09-2011 06:39 AM

Basically the "I'm better than you and more qualified to use these commands than you just because I had a payment option that worked" system?

No, more of a "I helped out the server so you can continue to play!" system.

Vendetta 10-09-2011 08:23 AM

Hm, I really want to donate.

Codez12 10-09-2011 11:24 AM

to get bonuses for donating is not a good idea. some people like me for example, just don't have access to money sometimes. so for the more fortunate people to boast and show about having money is not on
just donate because you want to keep playing

LavaClaw 10-09-2011 11:32 AM

The bonuses encourages the players to pay though, most wont donate for nothing. Also, the bonuses didn't give the donators that much of an advantage over the average joe, they got cool commands like mob disguises and this one called choptree which if you destroyed one block from the trunk of a tree, the whole tree would be destroyed. Stuff like that, its fun,it helps but you don't gain too much of an advantage.

Higbey 10-09-2011 12:54 PM

No bonuses. Knowing you donated should be enough. It's not my fault I can't donate with actual paper cash

Beholder 10-09-2011 05:15 PM

Haha I don't care for bonuses / extra mods. MobDisguise and ChopTree sound halarious though.

The TreeChop is mildly spoiling and would be a clear advantage over other players- The donators wouldn't be the ones expected to leave dozens of floating trees in the first place as well. (It also makes mining seem like a royal pain in the ass by comparison.)

Disguise would be just, funny. You'd be damn right I'd be spying on everyone as a chicken.

Yeah we don't need an "item shop" based donation system, we already have a tiered player system which I'm sure already seems like a spit into people's faces (Yellows lacking /tpa and setnick; Greys lacking access to basic building to prove they're good enough to stay).

kilik 10-09-2011 10:18 PM

the work that has been put into the server for all of us to use is greatly appreciated love the server, and all of the people in it get along great. thanks again! -50.00$

Fireenn 10-10-2011 08:05 AM

aww man i only have $4 left on my paypal account

LavaClaw 10-10-2011 11:10 AM

At least with the ChopTree command you don't have random leaves floating around everywhere.

Vendetta 10-10-2011 04:45 PM

*waits until benefits have been sorted out*

Lumbering is one of the major types or resource hunting a builder will do. Even building a relatively small house will probably force someone to go cut down quite a few amount of trees.

That's not something I'd like to see a bonus given to.

Beholder 10-10-2011 07:05 PM

Yeah thats more of something that should be given to everyone (to avoid floating trees), or no one (because its unfair).

Chaotic 10-11-2011 05:18 AM

ill donate 8 bucks tomorrow so thats 90

Codez12 10-11-2011 08:09 AM

well, thats almost enough

82 dollars so far

I think though that people should get a job. $5 isn't that much. Even if your still young its not that hard.

DragonRider 10-16-2011 10:29 AM

I really wanna donate but I'm broke at the moment.

Yephenpeace 10-18-2011 09:12 PM

Lol, I was unaware you even had to pay for a minecraft server.

A minecraft server needs to be hosted. Hosting a server takes up more bandwidth than most sites.

MattKan 10-18-2011 10:31 PM

Well Rufus told me that the next three months had been paid for, so I would say we are way over $90...

I've came up with the difference for the time being, I'd prefer if the community at least donated to meet the goal. We'll see if Minecraft is still relevant in the next few months.

Mafukie 10-18-2011 10:42 PM

What's the current total? If I may suggest if this were to continue be regulated by donation script that keeps track.

fp4 10-18-2011 10:46 PM

It hasn't changed since I last updated the first post.

Edit: Thanks for the donation.

Mafukie 10-18-2011 10:53 PM

np, that should be it. I don't play MC, but ill message you if I do

We're good until February. We are currently implementing BuyCraft so you'll be able to donate in-game/by website soon.

Eski Adoot 01-08-2012 06:48 PM

Not if you host it yourself ^_^.

(Also If you are in the donating mood I would suggest the humble bundle http://www.humblebundle.com/
7 games and you get to split up how much you donate to certain organizations and developers.)

I haven't been on this server much but I'll think about donating.

damn you paypal. you make one mistake and you find it impossible to use any sort of online payment option.

Exactly what Rufus said. It'll still take a lot of bandwidth, but it'd be coming out of your internet connection. 1) to host a server for a decent amount of players is usually out the capabilities of the average home connection. 2) You'd need a decent dedicated computer to host the server, hosting it on a machine that is actively used will drain away from the very cpu intensive server. 3) Most ISPs don't like people hosting servers very much. They might bottleneck your connection.

Virus 01-09-2012 01:25 AM

Here is what the server that I normally play on's policy:

(We have iConomy and the Chest Shop plugins, so that's what the money is for)

Donator:
~$5/month~
20k ingame
Special donator kit (60 minute cooldown)
MagicCarpet
Ability to wear blocks as hats
The Donator title in game

SuperDonator:
~$10/month~
All Donator powers
30k ingame
Special donator kit (30 minute cooldown)
Can change your display name
The SuperDonator title in game

EliteDonator:
~$25 once~
All SuperDonator powers
50k in game
Special donator kit (15 minute cooldown)
Ability to fly with your own client mod
Ability to change time
Never take fall damage
The EliteDonator title in game

UberDonator:
~$50 once~
All EliteDonator powers
75k in game
Special donator kit (10 minute cooldown)
Never lose money on death
Ability to change time/weather.
Custom rank title of your choice
The UberDonator title in game

The Donator Kit is a kit of Diamond tools (Pick, Axe, and Shovel)
This may seem like a lot, but a lot of people donate.
The best part about this is that the owners don't have to give you the powers, it's just that they trust that you are trusting enough to pay money to people you don't know in real life.

I am all for donators getting benefits, but if they misuse them they get them taken away.

Dusty 01-09-2012 01:32 AM

I'm not for donators getting benefits. People should not be able to buy their way into a game. Cosmetic and mostly harmless benefits? Sure. Giving them money and items and other gameplay benefits? No way. We're all a pretty cool little community here, and people seem to be willing to help out regardless.

Higbey 01-09-2012 01:39 AM

Donation perks shouldn't effect gameplay. I remember a server I played we're you got access to fly and /spawn commands for donating a lot, and I've seen "free" servers that require donating to be able to set home or leave the main area.

Kinda reminds me of how "free" iclassic is.

fp4 02-20-2012 06:43 PM

I'm letting the server subscription expire unless people want to pool together for the full 90 USD again to keep it up for another 3 months.
