Graalians Minecraft Anniversary!
 

A couple of weeks ago marked the anniversary of the Graalians Minecraft Server. There sure has been a lot going on over the past year, and Minecraft itself has evolved into something much greater than what we started with. In the spirit of this, we have decorated the world with a carnival-style theme and have decided to host a series of both familiar events from Graalians history and some new ones. This time there will be actual prizes to win!

Opening Party
Friday, October 5th @ 7:30 PM EST

• We will host some rounds of CTF to celebrate.
• There will be wool giveaways on the night to prepare you for the pixel art contest.
• Other surprises are planned!

Apocalypse
Saturday, October 13 @ 7:30 PM EST

• There will be a zombie invasion in Graal City!
• Do you have what it takes to be the last man standing?
• The winners of each round will receive an end portal for their home.
• You do not need to RSVP.

The Hunger Games
Saturday, October 20 @ 7:30 PM EST

• Because of the high turn-out of previous Hunger Games events in the Graalians Community, we've decided to host another round of this classic fight to the death. May the odds be ever in your favor.
• The last man/woman standing will receive a $15 gift card to purchase thing(s) from Jinx.com!
• There will be a practice round at 5:00 if you wish to join us.

Closing Night of Events
Saturday, October 27 @ 7:00 PM EST

• We'll start out the night with a round of Boat Wars.
• All pirates will receive free sponges, and the winner a chest from Davy Jonus's locker.
• Additionally, we will host a diamond lottery. Each diamond surrendered will count as an entry. The winner will receive twice the total number of diamonds entered.
• Lastly, we will host the long-anticipated Spleef Tournament. Spleef has always been a part of our server's history and we are finally hosting an organized event to quench the community's thirst for competition. (If you haven't played Spleef on a Minecraft server before, click here for the basic idea.)
• The ultimate champion will receive a $15 gift card to purchase thing(s) from Jinx.com!

Wool Art Contest and 25x25x25 Contest
Both contests will conclude by 6:00 AM on Sunday, October 28

• Members of the 1.8 server may remember the wool art contest that was held around the beginning of the server. As it was part of our history, we're bringing it back this month, hoping to see some unique and creative art designs.
• A new event that we are going to introduce is the 25x25x25 contest. Basically, design the most creative and unique house in a 25x25x25 area.
• Both events will be judged by operators on the server.
• The winner of each event will receive a $15 gift card to purchase thing(s) from Jinx.com!

The only event that we ask you to RSVP for is the Spleef Tournament so that we may prepare rosters. If you are not yet whitelisted on the server, please feel free to post your account here and an operator will add you. We'd love to have you on the server! :)

Those who have been banned for a minor reason lately, you can contact an operator and see about being unbanned for these events. Serious offenders will not be pardoned. Do not read this thread with the intention of cheating or disrupting the events. Such actions will not be tolerated, and at the end of the day it is your own loss. For everybody else, we hope to see you there!

Well last year is was made by some people. You could make teams. The chests were filled by the gamemaker(the guy that calls the shots of what happens like.... an enderdragon).

Are command blocks in 1.3?

Um.... No. That's from the 1.4 snapshots.

I thought so, I haven't been caught up on the snapshots recently, all I know is there's potatoes and a new lighting engine. That's all I care about.

The map has been in the works since a couple weeks ago. It's rigged with all sorts of, erm, catastrophes for me to launch at people. It won't actually be rigged against certain people like it is in the actual thing. I'll basically send out disasters that affect everybody throughout the game.

There won't be teams. I'll be watching for people who are teamed up and try to split them up using some pre-rigged stuff at every corner of the arena.

There will only be chests in the cornucopia. The initial goods won't really make you invincible, but they might give you a little but of a run. Eventually there will be a feast which will have the good items. I don't think I'm going to hide chests throughout the arena.

I don't expect to use command blocks because they're not out yet. Notch or somebody tweeted that the 1.4 update would come out on or after Halloween so we'll see.

Will there be a time of invulnerability or is it start and fight?

In regards to the apocalypse I think we should use a map back-up so with PVP on, and no protected things.

There will be a brief time of 2 or so minutes to exit the launch room with no PVP. However, the Cornucopia will not be opened until after those two minutes are up. It will be interesting to see how many people hang around the cornucopia instead of using the safe-time to flee.

It will be a giant zombie battle and not a competition to see who can blow up the most stuff. :P

Please put hidden chests around the hunger games map. If theyre all in the middle you are not likely to get alot of supplies and youre then a goner if theres no other chests you can find

I wish I had minecraft.... But like I've said before in the gaming forum mom has something against me downloading things :/ have fun, anyway. Sounds like something pretty big.

Why did the Server just close?

that was a bit chaotic.... no one knew who was on whos team and people were able to just parkour over stuff..

You could've parkoured over stuff too.

Server is down because, you know it was really laggy, Matt wants to get a paid server host. So eh.. save up some money and donate to keep the server to stay alive.

Right now you can access the server at 198.12.123.213... the redirect for mc.graalians.com should be working soon :/

I agreed to let him use my host, it can hold >50 players and should be up 24/7 for the next 3 months, if you want it out long, use your wallet :)

Graal City has been captured by the minions of the Zombie King! He is planning an attack on our humble three-building town at exactly 7:30 PM EST this Saturday! To encourage the civilians to come to our defense, the royal kingdom of graal... er... something or other is giving away three End Portals to the three most courageous, ferocious, and victorious people during the attack. These End Portals will be magically delivered to any place on the map that you wish! Good luck to our soldiers! Please be there to support our nation!

We have fortified the bank to serve as a base during the zombie attack. Please be online to help us defend Graal City! (We'll be giving out End Portals to those who are the strongest!)

so, basically we were fooling around while mattkan was afk, and we found a way out of the bank which was locked, here we were, in the sewers under the city, no items, no commands, and pvp on
we searched for a way out, luckily i remembered a exit i made incase anyone got glitched down there.... i ran out and climbed out, escaped from the wall..

i saw ijasom, and attacked, he fled, and i made some crude tools,
i made a stone sword and doubled back, killing trev as he escaped from the bedrock box, the blood on my blade,i ran through buneary with my sword, the looks of shock frozen on her pixely face, i darted back and killed a skeleton attacking, i felt alive, free...

i ran around, getting string and arrows, then made a bow, buneary escaped into avonelea, and i turned back to head towards it, i killed trev as he came out of the tunnel, and continued cutting down monsters as i ran to avonlea.

i ran up the bridge, and trev told buneary to make a sword. i had to kill her before she did..

i chased after her, she went into a house, my heart sank, and i perpared myself for a battle that could be my end..

she foolishly let her stomachs hunger guide her, and went into the back to collect food from the farm, i cornered and killed her, her blood staining the farmland red...

i saw someone coming, trev. i wasnt ready for another fight, i needed more... i parkoured into a house, setting my home at a bed, and ran out, into the desert, where i collected more and explored, finally heading back without the iron blade i craved.

i wasnt able to make it back, ijasom, in iron armor, intercepted and chased me, i headed for the water. he was gaining, i had a few arrows, i made them count, driving one into his head, he turned back and fled, i swam on, he called for the others, i was outnumbered...

i swam for the islands, it was time to finish this. i went through a portal to the nether... i would die where none would claim my gear.. i would die in my home.. i jumped... i felt the hot burning air as i hurtled towards the bedrock below... i hit.

i woke up, in the bank, with nothing... and they doubled back, i felt the most extreme fear... i was trapped, they were at all exits, my bed spawn failed, trapped in the bank, doomed.....

then mattkan got back on. realized what the hell happened, and started summoning us all back, killed us, and i went on about how great it was, kept trying to escape as he plugged up the hole trying to get out again... then a disconnect, then i relogged, laughed, then bam, banned for "no respect for anybody on the server".

anyway, all in all, that was the best event we have had, even if it wasnt intended or wanted by mattkan, pity that it ended the way it did, but all in good fun.
