I was originally obsessed with Sword Art. Not really willing to give this one a try. Looks like it sucks.

It's funny how bad the first season was, but you adore that.

Except the only reason they make second series is due to the first being popular you seem to have forgotten that people have different opinions so i would like to know what factor of sao you think should stop anyone watching it

Why do you think I'm denying its popularity? How many times do I have to say all because it's popular, doesn't make it good?

It doesn't matter what peoples opinions were on the first season, the story was bad, how it progressed was bad, the characters were horrible and cliched (Asuna being the huge point of this, started off amazing, fell into helpless girl).

He stated he liked the first series you responded saying it was bad and that he shouldnt have that opinion and no popularity doesnt make things good but it shows things are enjoyed and therefore good

As for the characters they werent cliche presuming you just mean asuna and kirito as they seem to be the only ones who seem stereotypical they were relatable for the watchers sake which is a good factor for leading charcters

As for asuna becoming reliant on others in the second arc the theme was about some things not being in our control kirito learns that there are some things he cannot do like pull off long hair suguha learns that she cant do anything about fullfilling her desires so it makes sense asuna cant control being trapped and she does escape which i bet is something you couldnt before you start saying she is weak

But if u mean before the second ark asuna didnt change she finnaly got he chance to open herself up due to kirito

He says the second season looks bad, but absolutely loved the first season. It's ironic and I was pointing that out, nothing more. I never said he shouldn't like it, nor anything else other than the irony.

Yes, they were. Characters don't have to he cliche for them to relatable.

Kirito; Ultimate badass who can never lose, or die even though he died. Shiro Emiya would be confused, as people die if they're killed.

Asuna; Helpful in the first couple of episodes, became the standard "I'm the main characters GF

Yui; Literally, Navi.

The three other girls that were randomly thrown into the story because harem; Three other girls that were randomly thrown into the story because harem.

Asuna became reliant on others after the first couple of episodes. She became useless. She didn't progress the story at all past those episodes unless it was "Damnit, Kirito, I'm in another castle."

What's with the bolded part? What are you trying to accomplish? It has nothing to do this discussion at all, and you're just simply trying to insult because everything you're trying to say, is simply not factual.

To be on topic, before this turns into another why S1 sucked discussion, The story progression in SAO 2 is way better than it was from the previous season.

I cant exactly post facts on a anime storyline kirito can die though very simply only reason he was aloud to live was because of his display in skills besides how often do you see an anime where the main character dies and doesnt return as fir the rest of the stuff you posted i would just have to say thats wrong as for the bold part it was some method of humour and it came across as "you shouldnt be allowed to have this opinion!

Uhh, what. Yeah you can, you can't with this anime because I already posted them.

Plenty of anime where main characters die and never come back. Everything I posted was right, and you can't dispute that, so you're just going to sum it all up to "You're just wrong because reasons".

I cant help but notice that GGO's currency is abbreviated by "G."

Gave this show a quick run-through. Not terribly impressed, but there are a few things about it I like more than the first season.

wall of text inc

Bad things first. Writers are still sticking to forced devices for plot development and pacing. Twice now it's happened, that they skip the entire entry phase of the game (earning money, levels, equipment) for the sake of plot acceleration. First in ALfheim, they just decide to throw all of Kirito's money from SAO into ALO (but not ALO into GGO?), and in GGO, a very conveniently placed activity catered towards Kirito's skillset which makes him the $$$cashmoney$$$. In SAO they just skipped it altogether and decided he should just be level 28 from episode 2. Then, the forced "silly fanservice" for lack of a better term. For some undisclosed reason, Kirito becomes a girl which serves only to open the pathway for a Shinon fanservice scene where she has to undress to equip her armor (even though it's been shown in SAO that the engine supports equipping without un-equipping like 99% of MMOs, whatever, just analytic nitpicking). Reminds me of DAL2 where Shido crossdresses just to talk to a girl (lol). Also, the whole Shinon's "toggle PTSD" which turns off in GGO has a pretty silly reason. Because of the fact that the game isn't very connected to the world due to sketchy GGO currency -> ¥ makes her a "different person" (this is actually explicitly stated in ep5) means she has lost all fear of guns and her visibly potent PTSD is non-existent? Okay. Also, the whole "death in game = death in life" murder-mystery plot structure is getting old.

On the second hand, there are some things I like about GGO that are much better than SAO/ALO. First off, character development. Shinon (シノン in Katakana, what a neat-looking name) has a lot stronger and more interesting foundation than both Kirito and Asuna, and seems to have an actual purpose to play GGO, something that felt really lacking in the first season. The action scenes in the show are still great, and I feel like his whole energy sword-deflect saber thing can make for some nice action scenes in the future. Shinon's trickshotting was neat too. Element of suspense was handled nicely in Shinon's flashback and panic attacks too. Art still looks great, love how Shinon looks (signature time?) and the setting and animation for the guns and energy sword look very nice. Music is still pretty nice, Eir Aoi is a great band and the ED fits Shinon very nicely.

Can't really say anything about plot, doesn't really stick out as unique or interesting after the SAO fiasco. Way too predictable, even the method of Death Gun's murders I'm pretty sure I can guess with good accuracy after only seeing the episodes that are out as of now (5).

Depending on how long they drag out this arc and how much development they can throw in for the Kirito-Shinon relationship, could be bad, could be decent. Guess I'll have to wait.

i started watching all episodes. i liked dem. i wanted to see what shinos voice sounded like in english though. asuna sounds like a bitch in season two though. i think im the only one who thinks that. for u fighters there are people who hate season one and possibly two of sword art online, like my brother. he hates bleach. way different than me.he said only the first two episodes were good, then they were ****. :( yes, i watched in with english sub, since the dubs werent out yet.the thingy that made kirito a girl body, is like the old dudes. its related somewhat but not completly recognizable. shino has the same haircut, but in a different color. its a M-900 so it knows its a male, but with female looking hair and eyes and stuff.

Hadzz 08-05-2014 10:11 AM

Why does everyone call her shinnon its sinnon and i think the reason he looks like a girl is because a lot females on mmos tend to ignore male players due to the stereotype perverts which is expressed in thee most recent episode i saw a shot were kirito looked baguely male yay!
