Of course it's not dynamic :)

Flowers are possible, but not sure if the benefit is quite worth the effort right now. Tileset space isn't that bad since I have cleaned up the tileset and removed most of the worthless tiles(lava and such).

Isn't there lava in one of the player houses? And how can you hate on lava?

Because the tiles are hideous and lava is mostly unused. No point in wasting a good quarter of the tileset for something that is ugly and hardly used. Lava itself will most likely remain, but the other tiles will not.

Lava does look quite crap... I await the day Graal gets a default unified lighting system (glow from lava anyone?) plus the ability to create a TShowImg and designate it as an openGL context. High quality animated textures with the ability to properly react to lighting situations. With this, I'd be happy walking across a bridge over bubbling lava, putting a real time dynamic glow on all nearby objects :)

Of course, attempting real time lighting ATM just destroys Graal since it's relying solely on the CPU which can cripple even a high end CPU for the most basic scenes without even beginning to think of providing features standard for openGL/DirectX.

Do it, Stefan!

The iOS/Flash version of Graal doesn't even support default tile animation(flowers), probably because of the cpu usage it would require. So I highly doubt any of that will ever happen.

2013 game that barely looked different in 1998 can barely support animated flowers. that's real promising. i think the early 90's link to the past had better graphics or so x-x

How would a 16 by 16 pixel 4 frame animation cause high CPU usage? Is it trying to put the whole tileset into each frame or what?

I'm guessing because of the method he uses for tile animation, which is a loop that constantly swaps out tiles.

Looks nice! :)

It will be funny because new players won't know how the old tile set looked liked.
With the winter one on right now the trees look way different.

He could just change it to a better method. I guess it's not that important. Visually appealing stuff should be possible on the iOS devices. If they can render 3D, there should be no issue to render some cool lighting effects on 2D. Just saying.

Scripting it would cause the CPU to work overtime, but making it a built-in function should work better.
