There are issues that need to be sorted out that are quite substantial(right now it's overlapping all the gui elements for example). Even if it was fleshed out, Android is currently suffering the most from it, though Android has framerate issues all around. Graal really needs to lower the display resolution for high-dpi devices as it's rendering at 2560×1440 for my Nexus 6 even though it's visually unplayable zoomed out at 100% anyways.
And there needs to be actual substance to a day/night system other than just looking pretty. |

1. Shops are open 2. You can catch butterflies, bees 3. You can catch certain types of fish 4. Guards are around to protect more, less areas are pk enabled Night 1. Shops are closed, maybe you need to pay a small fee to enter or you pick the lock, but are then wanted, and the player who puts you down is rewarded. 2. You need a lantern to see where you are/going 3. You can catch fireflies, and spiders (if you spot with lantern) 4. Bars are open, all the dance/club places are open 5. There are less guards around, so certain areas are now pk enabled 6. Huge Spider spawns/other types of bosses are possible 7. Other types of fish are able to be caught, maybe a little more mysterious Maybe even other gameplay mechanics could be added 1. You need to carry certain types of clothes/skaarf to keep warm during the night. 2. You need a lantern to go outside of the cities. If you are without a lantern at night, then you get warped to an Inn saying: "something hurt you and you are now here Example, you should really carry a lantern with you, it's not safe at night out there." 3. Maybe you lose a little gralats before being brought to the inn. (Bandits maybe), which give you the option to have quests like, "Get your money back from those bandits." Which you are then given the location to their whereabouts. 4. Players can probably be a good Samaritan, and light some of the pillars with their lanterns and provide a light source for those who are carrying torches. Explained in the next point. 5. Players will have to buy oil from shops to refuel their lanterns, the amount of light emitted from a lantern will let you know if it's full/almost empty (almost completely faded away). 6. For those who don't have the gralats to buy lanterns, you can pick up some sticks/torches for a measly 5-10g. Other players can use their lanterns to keep your torch lit, it helps if you bring a friend on your adventure. 7. Lantern shops could be added, helping out graal's economy by providing a lot of varieties for lanterns, and maybe some lanterns could last more than others, while others can emit more light providing you more vision. I might add some more stuff later on, but for now that's all I can think of. As to key points on why you want to go out during the day/night. The light of day gives you the safety you need to do simple tasks. The night gives you the sense of survivability, letting you do things only available at night (A totally different environment) Once these are stable, you can later add other weather effects such as rain, lighting, fog (which has already been used for Halloween, but caused a lot of lag on PC), sandstorms, wind (like how destiny uses the gravity areas). |
Wouldnt the gaurds be more active in the night when danger actually approaches.
Bosses.. um prob not happening, its classic. Buying oil for lanterns, please god no, thatd be a pain. What happens when everyone wants a single tor h? There is a lantern shop, id say they should just make it bigger like they did the railcarts. That warping to the inn thing sounds cool but id feel restricted so how about, "you need a guild to go out unprotected in the night" You dont exactly need a lantern, you still have your field of visions light. Rain and lightning I'd love or breezy days, but it might lag out the server. We can actually use that scarf finally. Lock picking is cool butidk how thatd work out tbh. And again that guard thing, I kinda dont wanna be restricted to less areas in the Day |
Wasn't bug activity somehow tied to day and night... or planned to be?

You are less visible in the dark, so guards don't have 100% vision of the environment + the guards need to sleep, there is a night shift, but it's more like people watching the "borders". "it's classic, so you know"... that point is getting old. It can happen. Plus they already made a Giant Lizardon, Pumpkin Blob, Giant Slime, I think there was one at deadwood. How would that be a pain? You aren't buying it every 30 mins, and it won't be that high of a price. What do you mean "single torch"? Needing a guild sounds like even more of a "restriction", lmao. Weather effects don't cause device lag, if your device can actually handle it. PC was lagging, only when you aren't zoomed in during the fog. Other than that zoomed in, and game runs fine. Lock picking, maybe a arrow/key shows up on screen like an action that you have to press/tap. Guard thing? Less areas in the day? You have more areas in the day... |

When I said single torch I mean, theres always gonna be that moment someones gonna want the same torch (the torch idea you offered for light) and there could be a possible crowd of pking. Needing a lantern literally sounds like a restriction just as much as the guild idea is except you dont have to pay gralats if you dont have it and just wear a tag, any tag, so its less of an restriction. I still sort of think the weather would lag people out, I do remember lagging out a bunch with a few snow crystals being on. The lock picking sounds decent I suppose but I think itd be cool for a quest rather than it being a daily thing. And what I meant by the guard thing is, I feel pretty restricted to not be able to pk anywhere I want and seeing how in the day less areas can allow pking, thats basically no PK at all. I still wish graal city was pk-able. |

Someone is going to want the same torch? A guild costs 2,000. Lantern? Plus, you can use a torch (5-15g). You already have a lantern, so I don't know what the problem is? Day = same areas available right now. Night = more areas available.. there is no restriction with the day, it would be the same as right now. |
These are all great ideas, but we have to take 'Lag' into consideration as it is a major problem even without all of these fancy ideas.
|
Whether or not something will lag really should be determined by devs, not players.
