Isn't that the whole point of "Online interactions are not rated" though?

That has nothing to do with what I just said.

Also, could anyone in support of disabling the swear filter give me a legit argument as to why they need/want to see or say blocked words so badly, especially if as it has been said they are "just words". Also explain why it would not be better to just broaden your vocabulary and use words that are considered less offensive by most people.

I believe that the swear filter is in place to reduce the amount of bullying or harassment you may see out there, instead of trying to protect anyone from harsh language for the sake of protecting it. In this regard, I believe it will be very successful! However, I also feel like bullying will happen regardless, so to restrict a wide variety of swear words would ultimately feel a bit pointless.

Still, if it lessened a harassing encounter even by a little, it's worth it. People must be kind to one another!

Nice attempt at an insult, but experiencing some form of adult entertainment is extremely normal for kids around that age.

So please, step up your game with actual facts before you try me.

It wasn't serious, but okay bruh.

How does it not have relevance in that discussion? It's literally about online interactions since, you know, you are interacting with other people through an network that's online.

Choice would be the best argument here. Perhaps they don't want to see * and would rather see the word rather than some game babysit them, It would be better if they expanded their vocab, but that's a choice that they made. Swear filters are dumb in this day and age.

It is relevant to the whole discussion, but it has no relevance to what you quoted me saying.

It does to that specific part of the conversation too. Parents should know that online interactions are not rated, which means they're going to be exposed to things that they may not want their kids, such as offensive words.

If the parents don't like how a game handles those words (with or without swear filter, toggle option), then they can make sure their child doesn't play that game.

Yes, I was saying generally parents don't like that, I think that most parents could hardly care about the rating. But the point here isn't to lose players, even if they are like 5 or something.

If you keep using that model, you'll lose even more players.

I'm sure I don't have to explain that you can't make everyone happy and that everyone stops playing for any number of reason. Quit holding on to what you've got and aim for more. If a decision loses players, so be it.

I can understand that argument under different circumstances. But when it is about something as dumb as a swear filter and the people arguing against it really need to just grow up and realize there are circumstances where certain words shouldn't be used I can't.

I'll say this again though, no matter the outcome of this argument it really doesn't matter. Its up to Stefan to remove it, and he won't.

Said let's take a base in squad chat and it said Please Don't Use Rude Words, lol.

Yeah but you should know that Stefan makes the most ******ed judgements on a lot of things.

So I got up against a tree in the start area right, and I say shiver, so it looks like I'm humping the tree, than I said "I'm gonna sexually reproduce with this tree and make tree babies", and then it tells me not to use rude words. What, Zone has a problem with Science!

We think there is nothing wrong about the mature use of the word sex, especially in mature cases such as your own. However there are some people who think it is okay to beg players to have sex with them, so the word is blocked. Really sucks that its ruined for people like you by a bunch of kids.

i dnk liek da filter, it maked zun nt fn k
I'm not a fan of the filter, while they have let you say some words there are some sentences that you can't say that don't even make sense.

GenoIndeed 07-01-2014 01:36 PM

The only thing the filter should block is the cuss word itself and common replacements for certain cuss words.
