Maybe you can keep the damage the same up close but the more the range, the more the damage falls.

hi all,

We are testing the PBP with damage as people say it's OP

If this isn't a good solution (i.e. changing the damage) we will be trying sot thomething else such as the first bullet will do 7 damage, 2nd bullet will do 3damage, 3rd bullet will do 5 damage and so on

Why was no thread like this posted about the light saber, i spent three months of saving event coins for something that got nerfed because other player thought it wasnt fair... Yet no thread was posted about that for us to get a say in what would happen to a weapon that you actually had to work for and couldnt just use daddys money to get the thing we wanted...

I think the damage reduction but I guess the other one would work just as well.

The PBP was released before a major update to shotguns was applied. Before the update, only one bullet was able to hit someone. Damage per bullet was reduced to counter the new change, but it's entirely possible that the gun is still overpowered. So it's definitely a good idea to try some changes to it.

Yes, players may have bought it only because it's so powerful. However, iEra's currency is not a real form of legal tender, and we reserve the right to change the game as we see fit. The changes we make are for the benefit of the majority of players. If you feel you are entitled to an overpowered weapon just because you bought it while it was overpowered, I'm sorry, but it's not possible. Refunds cannot be given either.

I wish we could always release things in a balanced way, but unfortunately for everyone, we are volunteers, not paid professional game devs. We make mistakes, and we hate messing up the game just as much as you hate it when we do that.

Every time you shoot, a bullet should do a random damage (4-8)

In any job, you can learn from your mistakes. Why hasn't there been a testing procol made for guns, by type?

If anything, experience from era PC would be enough to develop weapons, balance them and be consistent. I'm not saying the staff of today consists of PC devs, but I feel those mistakes must have been made before... Back in 2005 or whenever era came out. (not sure really.) It seems that these "mistakes" are being made on a game that is on it's second release. Or, third if you count PC, iPhone and FB.

Snk, I'd like to front a gun testing project before you release guns. Invite random players to an off map spot and have a battle royale. I'm not saying you can't do it yourselves, but if you get a sample of the community to test the guns, who arent complete morons, then you can get an idea of strength VS price. Gun balancing won't go away if you don't test out the guns properly. I'm prepared to give feedback from the community in a low profile fashion.

I agree with shock and maybe you could also make it so the damage decreases by 1 per tile it passes through.

I don't know what the case is for previous problems regarding balancing. I would say that this case is unique. Before I became staff on iEra, the shotguns were already released. They were absolutely terrible because the damage behavior was unlike shotguns at all. I developed an update which would improve the damage behavior. At that time, I think most people saw the update as a great improvement. However, even though a nerf was done at that time, apparently it wasn't enough.

We do test weapons before releasing, and we usually do a decent balancing job. In this case, it was a post-release update which pushed the weapon to be OP.

I would like to make it clear that if it was my decision, refunds or compensation would definitely be made. I've only posted saying that it won't happen because I have doubts that such a large scale refund would be approved by Stefan.
