I'm going to be honest, I haven't read most of the thread at all. But I have some advice for you since I am an American who is <18.

Firstly, I just want you to take everything that you've been told about the USA in your homeland and flush it. From my experience with meeting those who only 'hear' about what happens here, they have it mixed up worse than my cable management. It's not THAT bad here.

To go along with that part about it not being bad here: Your local news station is going to have something I call "the fifteen minutes of unwanted fame." Basically it's all the crimes and deaths that happened overnight. Don't worry about any of that. Unless you are a gang member or drug dealer you won't get killed. Oh, that sandy hook stuff that happened, yeah that doesn't happen very much here. Even if it did, after something happens here they make sure it isn't nearly as bad.

You also are worried about bullies, for some reason. I have no idea what goes on in your homeland, but you shouldn't have an issue at all. Even if you speak in broken-English you won't have much of a problem. This is because you're not from the USA, people respect you a lot more.

You should also familiarize yourself with thinking before you speak. It's very easy to get in a ****pickle when your words don't come out right. Everyone has their opinion and can speak freely. Often times I feel getting involved in topics of politics and race is not worth my time.

Most importantly, don't be scared. You're going to start to realize everything you were worried about is completely bull****. That "fifteen minutes of unwanted fame" starts to become funny and boring after a while.

I don't live in Tennessee but I've known a few who do. They aren't to the level of Alabama, so you don't have to deal with any racist folk.

I wish you luck and I hope you will use it to your advantage. It's very hard to actually become a citizen here due to the massive waiting list. Just wait for the Trumpet to sound and then we might get in you in faster.

Don't come to Canada

economy sucks and the only thing going up is our unemployment rate

also, don't try too hard to make friends that's how you get bullied, just let it naturally happen, bullying isn't nearly as bad as TV makes it out to be nobody is going to target you for no reason and if they do the problem is them not you, don't act like someone you aren't because then you'll end up hanging out with people the real you wouldn't normally hangout with

another note, Canada is filled with a-holes trust me the whole "everyone is so polite" is pretty false so moving here because you think we are all nice majestical creatures is a bad idea

I agree with the bullying part.

I guess it depends where you live, everywhere is different in Canada. Not everyone is polite, but on the whole, people from Canada are nicer NGL, at least where I live

This notion that homeschooling won't let you get into a decent college is a sham; this is all misinformation. Life after high school is nothing like you think it is. In fact, it's starting to make a lot of sense to me why some of the people around here are difficult to explain reality to; so many youngin's … 16, 18, 14 … My gaawd.

Okay, in the real world there is no such thing as a permanent record; also, any normal college will do. A community college is good for a 2 year degree while a university is good for a bachelor's. You may have to finish a PhD at a specialized unit nearby, which is a branch of your university.

Literally, any college will do. In fact the "better college" myth usually is just centered around some idea about people "moving on to be rich and awesome". You can go this route, but you'll end up paying a fortune in student loans and wishing you had just picked something like a community college with credits that transfer to start.

Filing for bankruptcy won't even remove your student loan debt. I know people with $250,000 in student loan debt and they are struggling to pay for a car, a house payment, and their student loan's monthly payment. It's a mess. Literally they're paying $1600 a month in student loans. It isn't funny.

As for standing up for yourself: Just speak your truth, be yourself, and don't start ****. Don't try to be bigger & badder than you are, and keep the peace.

Peace, and love <3
